Faction Lore #3 - Mion Jungle Tribe
Known (Researchable In-Book)
The Mion Jungle Tribe is a Tribe of either humans who got turned into cheetah hybrids, or cheetahs who got turned into human hybrids. It's current ruler is of the latter, having been a cheetah-dominant-born. Myrkr is the former, having been a human-dominant-born. They all have emerald green eyes due to the process of becoming a hybrid, or their parent's genetics of such.
They were created by cheetah-esque chimaera taking humans and creating the new species, and then the intermixing of the two species. From the cheetah chimaera, the Cí'mehia learned quick close combat techniques to take down their foes.
Very few of the actual Cí'mehia can change their form into both human and cheetah, most only being able to shift into what they used to be or what they were born as (dominant-born), cheetah or human. However, some, like Myrkr, can change into cheetah and human forms, marking them as nobility or even royalty since the ability is genetic and rare, representing a deep resistance to normal rules.
If two Cí'mehia wish to have offspring, and they are different types, the offspring will be what their gender parent is, such as a son would be what the father is, and the daughter would be what the mother is. On the off chance that one of the nobility--since royalty has to be with a noble, so nobility only--wish to be with on of the common Cí'mehia, their offspring will be that of the common parent, since the nobility can change to either animal or human form.
It is suspected that if a noble was human or cheetah first, however, and if they have offspring with a former cheetah, their children will be subject to the Same Gender Parent rule, though not proven. It has been noted that such offspring would have a half and half chance to be of noble blood, marking them as strong.
Cheetahs or humans are taken when orphaned and young to be mutated. Those who were former humans go to towns to get seeds, cloth, and other basic materials. Some live away from the Tribe with permission of their ruler to get money to buy these materials. Former cheetahs are typically the best hunters, but each stereotypical role has those rule breakers.
Offspring of those who are already physically part of the Tribe have the mutations to make them whichever type of mutant they are. Very little 'racial' discrimination occurs, mainly it is between nobility and commoners.
Mionians have a knack for alechemy, and have made a way to create emeralds through this talent. The recipe is a jealously guarded secret, and is said to have come from their god, Ysmí.
The Mionian religion has an awe of emeralds, that each piece was from their god, and use them in special rituals, healing, warding, and omens, though only Myrkr can 'engineer' the emeralds into weapons or tools.
This Tribe outwardly seem to be neutral in the war between the Revak Feykro and the Ziix, though they have their own interests at heart when their queen finds one of their own in the world, away from their home.
Unknown (Not Researchable In-Book)
There are special kinds of dragons who live with the Mionians, known as amazonite dragons. These come from similar means as the Mionians themselves, only with forest dragon orphans. These dragons look like pale emerald dragons, and are pretty much the same, but they are stronger while in a jungle or place of nature magic, such as the Jewel Dragon Clan base, the Mion Jungle Tribe, and Revak Feykro. No amazonite dragon comes from emerald dragon since those are considered to be blessed by their god, and a good omen.
♢ ♢ ♢ ♢ ♢
The race of Mion was inspired by Myrkr, who was in turn inspired but the Elder Scroll's Khajiit race and my favoring of cheetahs.
The Tribe idea came from Warriors and the mythical(?) Amazon warriors.
The mutation idea came from watching a ton of The Witcher gameplay.
Any questions or plotholes? If so, ask! I'd love to make this something I can make solid lore out of for my book!
