Thick Cracks and Broken Dreams
(I like this formatting. So I'mma use it.)
(This takes place approximately 2 years into the apocalypse, in which we get to explore the mind of our beloved character: Colin! Colin has a flashback of when him and Justin were younger and at Justin's house, before some unexpected things turn about.)
"Justin! Wait up!" Colin called after Justin as he teared through the crowd of people. Justin waited patiently until Colin could catch up, before he smirked. "I thought it was gonna take you forever to catch up!" Justin called out. Colin huffed out air, grabbed Justin's coat and began walking, causing him to drag Justin. The two boys began walking towards another roller coaster, this one with many falls, intervals, and shifts. Justin faced Colin, a small hint of worry in his face. Colin turned to face Justin before he grinned. "We'll sit together!" He exclaimed, gleaming brightly. During the ride, Colin would turn his head often to face Justin. He would see the fear spike in him and elbow him, letting him know he was there. At the end of the ride, Colin stretched. By now, the sun was almost completely out of the sky. Colin began to put on his jacket when he saw Justin looking down at his phone. He saw worry splash through Justin's face. What could have possibly happen? Colin grabbed Justin's hand and began heading to Justin's house. The entire time, the two seventh grade boys exchanged no words.
At the house, Colin watched as Justin headed up stairs towards his father's room. Colin sat at the couch and began reading a magazine with a woman in a bikini on the cover. As he heard Justin's footsteps, he quickly closed the magazine and put it back onto the table. Colin turned to face Justin, showing Justin he was there for him. Colin held Justin's hand, something they've always done. "What's wrong, bestie?" Colin asked quietly. Justin took off his glasses and began sobbing quietly. Colin placed a hand on his shoulder, before embracing Justin. He heard Justin try to speak. All he could get out was "Heart disease" and "Not going to make it." Colin began to pat Justin's back. Death was something you really can't plan for. You can know that you're dying and start making amends, but what about when it happens? How do you leave? What are your final words? Who's with you? Colin could almost hear those thoughts come out of Justin's mind. Colin rested his hand on Justin's back. Colin heard Bubba J through the door. He heard him silently curse to himself. He must've also received the news.
Justin takes off his glasses for a moment to wipe the tears draining from his eyes. He hung his head down and stood in-front of Colin. Colin heard his quiet sobs, as he slowly embraces Justin. He trusted Bubba J with Justin, and knew that in a way, him and Justin would grow a close and tight bond. That's what Colin wanted. But what about Justin? Colin knee Justin would probably want his father around as well, but knew that life had its chaotic moments. This was one of them. Justin sighed. "I'mma play a song for him." Justin muttered, moving away from Colin. Colin desperately wanted to continue hugging Justin, but reluctantly pulled away, as he nodded to Bubba J. Bubba nods back, before he follows Justin upstairs. Feeing like a stranger, Colin packs up his stuff and leaves.
(Yeah, it's pretty short and stupid. However, I don't have a lot of motivation at the moment. I also want to note that the 1649 series is cancelled, and I may delete the stories. However, I may not so new readers can read one of the worst things I have made. I kinda want to move away from the stories and make a couple more lists. There's gonna be one posted.. soon. Not going to say much of anything about it though, so yeah.)
