The Bite
(So I did a Colin and Justin one shot last time. This time, why not get some sibling love with Cordelia and Michael? And hopefully, this DOES happen if Cordelia ever got bitten.)
Cordelia sat on the ground, a jagged knife in her hand she was throwing up into the air. Podrick tried over a million times to stop her, but none prevailed and she continued putting her entire life in danger.
Michael was in a small room by himself. He was sitting down on a chair as he examined a map in front of him. A click read 10:24 PM in the corner. Michael slammed his fists into the table once again. He was furious. He lead his little troupe (Xylo, Nicoline, Pod-Bot, Cordelia) into a school they all couldn't pronounce. And now they were resting in classrooms and were planning on leaving tomorrow morning. They were gonna rest in the Home Economics classroom, while Xylo and Nicoline took the Science Lab.
Michael sighed, walked out of the Geography classroom and into the Home Economics class. Their sleeping mats were set up perfectly. All they needed to do was sleep. Something Michael could never do, but oh well.
Thud!
A small wooden plank fell onto the ground. And another. And another. Before long, 10 had fallen. And three zombies fell in, one of them carrying a gun. Podrick immediately shielded Cordelia, who in response, pushed kin away and grabbed her pillow from her sleeping mat. Podrick shook his head and grabbed his gun. He aimed it right at the other zombie with the gun.
After a few minutes of fighting, the zombies were down. Cordelia decided to sneak up in the last one and strangle it to death. As soon as it had fallen onto the ground, Cordelia did too. She was exhausted. They trudged millions of miles and now they just finished a fight? And they have to do more walking tomorrow? Horrible!!
Thud!
A wooden plank had fallen right into Cordelia's torso. She was too weak and exhausted to removed it, as a zombie fell on top of the plank. With the zombie on top of her, Cordelia panicked. She grabbed her pillow and hit the zombie on the side of his head with it. The zombie did nothing but turn around. They looked at each other, eye to eye. For a moment, Cordelia could've sworn she saw a boy about her age frightened for life. However, a gunshot came from Podrick's gun and the zombie just laid on top of Cordelia. Her brother and Podrick came over to help the zombie off as she stood. She owed them a lot.
However, as soon as she stood, she fell. Her knee hit the ground roughly and a gasp escaped from her mouth. Her tongue felt dry, as well as her eyes. Michael rushed over, and helped her into a comfortable position. Pod ran off to get Xylo and Nicoline.
When Podrick returned with the other two, Xylo approached Cordelia and examined her wound: a scar that was deeply etched into her skin. And a scar that ran along her arm. The huge scar looked old, so he payed attention to the other one. He then connected the dots from what Podrick told them. He then realized that these were the final moments of Cordelia's life, before she turned into a zombie. Xylo turned to Michael with a sour expression and just nodded. Michael banged his fist into the table so hard, it was likely to cause an earthquake. He forced everyone out. As soon as Nicoline left, she slammed the door shut. He approached Cordelia and told her the news. Surprisingly, she didn't panic. Instead, she nodded with a solemn expression. "It was my time, was it," She just asked. "It was my time to just up and leave."
"D-don't day that!" Michael screamed. He threw his pencil at a wall. He denied every bit of what she said. "Maybe we can get you to Mitch! Doctor Mitch can save your life! He-he'll have the cure and-" he was quickly cut off with Cordelia shaking her head. Then, Cordelia outstretched her arms. Michael walked right into them and hugged her. He hugged her tighter than he ever had, just crying for what felt like hours. But as he pulled away, he saw Cordelia face a certain object and just nod.
Podrick's gun.
Michael couldn't do it. He begged and begged for her to just become a zombie and bite him, but she said she couldn't. "It would be better if you just killed me before I make this wave of zombies even bigger than what it already is." She muttered.
"Cookie.. I love you too much, y'know? I don't want you to ever be alone. But if you want me to do this, I'll do it. But I will never forgive myself ever again." Michael said with a shaky voice. Cordelia only heard this side of him twice. She knew it was serious.
"Michael.. I'll be your guardian angel when I go to Heaven. When you need me, just pray and I'll be right here, see?" Cordelia pointed to his right chest, or more descriptively, his heart. Tears began to well up on both sides of her face. "I will make sure that everyone in our group are protected, including you. I promise that." Cordelia said. Michael didn't know what to do. But he knew he had to kill her.
It took all of his will for Michael to even pick up the gun. He trudged as slow as possible to Cordelia, who now looked paper than usual. The bite was taking effect quickly. Soon, she'll be a zombie, if he can't kill her.
"Cookie.."
"Michael."
Cordelia gave him one last smile. And then, she nodded her head.
Bang!
