After the Apocalypse

(Note that the people who survived were just picked from a random generator and weren't picked out of favorites, etc. It's also good to note that this takes place at least a year after the apocalypse and that the misfits went on to becoming an actual gang. EDIT: misfits are dead. Of course, in future events, such as if Brick is allowed to stay and be eight he misfits, or if Kaylee ever joins the misfits, this can be modified later.)

Michael is at a loss for words.
One year ago, he had to shoot his sister. The very person he had rescued from the ward. The sister he swore to protect. She's gone. Pod-bot, the cyborg Michael built a year ago, put an arm around Michael's back. He understood human emotion since he had a human brain. Him and Michael remained silent for a few minutes, before Michael rested his head onto Pod-bot. Pod sighed and helped Michael into a resting position: Michael just placing his head onto Pod's legs and taking a nap on this bright evening.

Xylo moves around the graveyard, not saying a word. He approached a grave, bent down, and gave the grave a soft kiss. The graveyard read in bold letters:
Nicoline
???-2035
Xylo's girlfriend
May she forever Rest In Peace.

Xylo couldn't bring himself to accept her death. He wanted to believe she was still alive, but didn't want to move on. It was simple denial. Maybe in a different universe, things were different. Because all Xylo wanted to do was replace her grave with his.

Ritchie was surprised he lived, despite being mostly a zombie. He was deeply saddened by the doc's sacrifice however. How he gave up so others could trudge in. Ritchie remembered the scene clearly: Mitch finally creating the cure, not realizing there was a zombie right behind him. But not just any zombie.. Sophie. The person Mitch was always talking about. No wonder he didn't want to reveal his name.
Ritchie slipped a pistol into his pocket. Despite the zombie population being close to nothing, they still roamed around in mostly suburban areas of the country. And Ritchie wanted to show them what they did to his life.

Kayla finished tending to her mother's needs. She knew Mitch could accomplish it. She was surprised he did. How he managed to do what was right and save everyone. Thinking of him forced her into a couple minutes of grief. The two of them were best friends, and Kayla went through some of the most grief when he died to his own sister. However, what truly got her was Mario. He died protecting her. Not against zombies, but against the Misfits. After the apocalypse, they all went crazy. They became a gang and began robbing banks. It wasn't until Kayla was attacked that Mario realized what he had to do. After the battle, Mario died kissing Kayla. The wound in his chest was just bleeding out. Kayla knee she couldn't save him, like how Mitch couldn't save Sophie.

Brick sat around Justin's old room, eating a box of pizza. Even though he wasn't Justin's half- brother, he was still allowed to stay. However, Brick saw himself as more of a roommate than an actual Misfit. While the others would hunt zombies or do stuff, Brick would just sit around. So when he learned they all died from a single person protecting his loved one, Brick just chuckled and was like "damn right" to his friends. But deep down, he was in denial. Everyday, he'd look down the balcony and see Justin and Colin's figure, skipping inside to play Overwatch with him. And then, he's remember they're gone and they'd never do that stuff again.

Kaylee punched a wall again. She was furious with Mitch's death. She kicked the same wall, her feet already bloody. She didn't care. She just wanted to get her anger out.
"Hello?"
Kaylee turned around. A man with red hair, a brown jacket, some khakis, and a green shirt stood before her. He took out a journal. "May I please ask what you're doing?" He asked calmly.
Kaylee had enough. She took out her gun, a revolver, and pointed it at his chest. In return, he quickly pulled out his pistol and aimed it at her. They were silent for a few minutes, as if they were communicating through eye contact. But slowly, Kaylee lowered her weapon. The guy followed.
"A friend of mine passed away." Kaylee said at last. The man understood this and just nodded. "Same."
"His name was Mitch. He was a doctor who had just gotten out of med school. I volunteered to help him develop a cure. And even though we weren't exactly friends, we weren't enemies either. I was helping a friend with her horses when I heard about his death." She said. She kicked the wall again. Kaylee didn't notice the man's eyebrows dart up.
"I know who you're talking about." The man said. "My name's Ritchie. And you must be Kaylee, aren't you?"
Kaylee turned around and actually studied him. At last, she nodded and shook his hand. The doc must've talked a lot about them while the other was gone.
"I'm hunting down some remaining zombies. You wanna help?"
Kaylee just nodded. Together, they backed out of the alley and talked about Mitch as they trudged in, the sun looming above them.
