*Third Person's POV*

'Thank God Suki choose some decent clothing for ONCE in her life...'

"Oh Deku!" Mai turned towards the voice she saw Ochako, wearing a pink helmet with a clear pink visor.

"Your outfit looks very cool and down to earth!" She told him making Mai glance at Izuku. His costume was green, he wore bunny ears and a smile seemed to be stitched on the place where the mask was.

'The bunny ears look... Adorable...'

"I should've have written what I wanted..." Ochako rubbed the back of her head from embarrassment.
"Mine ended up being a skin tight bodysuit."

"The hero course is the best." Mai looked down to see Mineta looking at Ochako in an interested manner before a perverted smile formed on his lips.

"S-saito-San, how can you cover yourself with such clothing? You have a really nice figure-"

Before the short boy could finish his sentence, a piece of paper covered his mouth. While trying to peel the paper off, Mineta's eyes widened when the piece got stuck on his lips.

Looking at Mai, Ochako and Izuku looked closer at the blue-haired girl. Mai wore a long-sleeved, high-collared white blouse with maroon edges. On her left hand she wore a black fingerless glove. She wore maroon, puffy hakama-styled pants with black boots that reached her knee.

"You guys look very nice." Mai complemented while trying to distract the two from eyeing her choice of costume.

"Mai-Chan, how come you are wearing such clothes? I-I mean don't think anything wrong but I don't know if your quirk would fit with this costume..." Ochako scratched her pink cheek while averting her gaze towards the ground.

'Well at least she is being honest...'

Mai's smile never faltered as she moved her eyes on Izuki. "Oh don't worry Uraraka-Chan. You see, my original idea was always to specialise in close ranged combat. And this type of clothing is very easy for me to move in and quite comfortable."

Ochako's eyes widened in realisation before another question popped in her mind.

"What exactly do you mean by 'original'?"

"Well... You see..."

She averted her gaze from the brunette before giving a 'help-me' look to Izuku. At first, the dark-haired boy stared at Mai with the same confusion before a memory hit him.

*flashback*

"Oh Saito-San!" Izuku ran up to the slow-walking bluenette who smiled at the sight of the boy.

"Hey Izuku, how come you're going to school so early?"

Sweat-dropping, Izuku looked at the time on his phone before showing it to Mai.

"Saito-San, y-you do realise it's five minutes before the bell?" Izuku was fiddling with his fingers, there was a thought stuck on his mind and he wanted to ask something the girl for a while now.

Humming in response Mai noticed the stiff posture of her friend. Placing a hand on his shoulder she kindly smiled.

"Is everything alright, Deku-kun?"

Squirting his eyes, the nervous boy lowered his head while bowing in front of the confused girl.

"I-I wanted to thank you for showing support t-towards me during the physical examination!" His cheeks were burning red, while sweat rolled down his forehead.

"But if you don't mind, I wanted to ask you...Why?" He peeked one eye at Mai, noticing a blush of embarrassment flush on her cheeks as she awkwardly patted him on the back.

"Don't worry Deku-kun, I did it as your friend. And I made a promise to help someone with the same issue I had to face..."

She trailed off, sparking Izuku's curiosity he leaned in, waiting for her to continue.

"W-what exactly do you mean by 'same issue'...?" Tilting his head in confusion, he noticed how Mai averted her gaze on her right hand.

"Well..."

"I-I mean if you are not comfortable talking about it!!-"

"No, it's fine... Well I noted that Aizawa-sensei said that you can't control your quirk properly, right?"
She continued to look straight ahead as the two walked side-by-side.

"Y-yeah..." Izuku trailed off, he didn't exactly know if he could trust Mai with a secret about his quirk, since All Might forbidden him to he just waited to hear what the bluenette had to say.

"If you can't control your quirk at such age it means that you probably developed it quite late..."

Izuku's eyes widened, it wasn't exactly like that but he did receive One For All just before the entrance exam, but what interested him was how Mai could understand such things.

"You see I also suffered from such problem..."

He stopped dead in tracks. "Saito-San, but your quirk is amazing! You look like a complete professional when using it!" It was true, the way Mai used her quirk made it seem like she had been trained from a very young age.

"Well... You know I didn't always want to be a hero, but when it actually became my dream I kinda found out that I was... Quirkless."

Choking on his own spit, the boy looked at her with an unbelievable expression. No way. How could someone like her be quirckless? He listened to her carefully while Mai started to tug her sleeves slightly.

"You were Quirkless?! But how were you planning to became a hero?!"

"Well I wasn't exactly quirkless, doctors said that I did inherit a quirk but there were never signs of it. So after a loss of a... Family member I decided to still become a hero no matter what..."

Izuku hung his head down, he knew what it felt like not to have a quirk and wish to become a hero.

"So I asked my father to help me with martial arts. He used to be a pro-hero who specialised in Muay Thai so he was my only solution.." Laughing nervously, Mai glanced at Izuku who was paying all of his attention to her words.

"And ten months before the entrance exam I got into an... Accident." She glances at her right arm with slight sadness which didn't get unnoticed by Izuku. He wanted to ask so badly, but then realised that the thoughts must not be the happiest if Mai doesn't feel like sharing them.

"I know what it feels like... To look down upon and have your classmates always against you..." His head flooded with memories as he stared at the girl near him with sympathy.

"I never got looked down upon by anyone." Her voice sounded more serious which caught him off guard, but then a sly smile grew on her lips.

"I simply beaten the crap of anyone who ever even tried to look down upon me." He stared at her with wide eyes, mouth open as he noticed that he was slightly behind.

"B-but that isn't exactly something a hero would do-"

"Maybe. But I just couldn't allow them to make fun of me. Despite beating them I never looked for anyone's approval... I knew who I was and what I wanted in life."

A kind smile grew on her lips as she offered her hand to Izuku. His cheeks flushed before he gave in with slight hesitation.

"As a friend I think you are a good guy, but I have respect for you because of the you didn't give up... I guess... Oh and please stop with the honourifics, you can just call me Mai..." 

Nodding happily, the two got closer towards the school gates. Before meeting the rest of they're classmates, Mai asked not to tell anyone the 'cheesy' story which caused the green-head to laugh slightly before agreeing on the promise.

*flashback end*

"U-ugh Uraraka, I think it's because Mai likes to combine her quirk with combat fighting...?" He didn't know what the heck he was saying but somehow it made sense in everyone's heads.

Smiling brightly, Ochako gave Mai a hug. "That's so cool Mai-Chan!" Patting her on the back, Mai just laughed it off while sending Izuki a thankful look.

"Sensei!" Iida shouted. "This is a battle centre from the entrance exam, so we will be conducting urban battles again?"

"No, we are going to move ahead two steps!" All Might explained. "Most of the time, fighting villains takes places outside but if you look at the total numbers, atrocious villains appear indoors at a higher rate. Imprisonment, house arrest, backroom deals, in this society filled with heroes truly intelligent villains hide in the shadows."

"For this, you'll split into villains and heroes and villains and fight two on two indoor battles!" He announced.

"Without basic training?" Tsuyu chipped in.

People started to throw questions at All Might, who was unable to respond so many at a time. So he took a small 'cheat' sheet from his sleeve making Mai twitch her eyebrow.

"The situation is that the villains have hidden a nuclear weapon somewhere in their hideout. The heroes are trying to dispose of that. The heroes need to catch the villains or get the nuclear weapon back in the allotted time given. The villains need to protect the weapon the whole time or catch the heroes."

'Seems quite organised...' Mai thought about all the possibilities of who will the teacher combine to work together.

"Teams and opponents will be determined by drawing lots!" All Might finished.

'Oh, I take my words back then.'

"Pros often have to crest makeshift teams with heroes from other agencies so maybe that's why?" Izuki replied.

"Now let's do this very quickly!" After everyone was paired up by lottery, Mai looked at the parson she was paired up with.

'Ojiro... Oh well.'

Walking up towards the tall male, she stuck her hand out while a small smile formed on her face.

"Lets win this together, alright?"

"S-sure." Asking her out stretched hand, Ojiro gave the girl a friendly smile.

The first team to go was A versus team D which would play the role of villains. Everyone observed the fight between Izuku and Bakugou as Ochako was against Iida near the nuclear weapon.

Yet the results surprised quite a few of them. Even though the hero team won the battle, the winning point went to Iida, which Mai didn't argue about to say at least.

In fact, she seemed the only one in her class watching from the cameras on the other side of the room. While most people assured she was commuting slacking, she paid attention towards them from different view.

"Saito-San, we are going next." Ojiro interrupted Mai, who was staring into space like an idiot.

"Oh, right. Come on then..." She trailed off while walking near him.

"I wanted to fight you for a while now, Saito." Shoto's voice caught the attention of both.

Smiling in return, Mai proceeded to to grab Ojiro's hand while walking faster, with Shoto and Shouji not far behind.

"Well... Give it your best shot then."
