She was it- Kale's POV
Kale's POV-
"D-daughter?" It left Lucy's mouth in a tremble making me completely shocked at the words too. Before anyone was able to speak again, Lucy stiffened up and let out a growl. "We need to leave," she ground out to me in anger with a huff.
I looked at her confused, but I could see the swirling colors in her eyes letting me know that she had a vision.
"It's time. They will attack soon. If we rush, we may be able to get there to help."
I growled at that revelation and turned to Sam. "Go with the Beta and help Trevor with everyone who is seeking refuge with us. Get back to our territory quickly."
Sam nodded obediently as Lucy turned to the older Beta from the Smith pack. "We must be going now... when we get our pack out of danger, I would love to hear about everything... my parents, brother, and home all included." She caressed the old man's hand and bowed respectfully to him.
She turned to the five warriors who stayed behind with us. "You five will come with us," she said in a gentle yet very commanding voice. I was sure that she didn't even realize that she was taking charge so easily. "We must hurry."
With those words, we all shifted into our wolf forms, Lucy settled on my back, and took off towards our home to defend our own pack from the traitor.
----
When we arrived on our lands, we all knew that the fight was already in full force. We all pushed ourselves that much harder to get to the main area to help defend our family.
As soon as we skidded to a stop at our own mainland, Lucy jumped off my back and ran inside of the main packhouse without even taking in the scene in front of her. I had no time to run after her because I quickly was surrounded by three ferocious warriors.
With ease, I fought them all off in minutes. Lucy and the pack's protection were the only things on my mind.
My eyes took in the fight, and I couldn't stop my fierce growl. There were not a lot of warriors that came to attack, but they were the high-ranking ones. I could tell by their skilled fighting. I rushed through the battles and aided my own warriors as I made my own way down the path that Lucy's scent went.
I made it inside the house and saw the few warriors that were left dead with stab wounds in their throats and claw marks across their faces. I knew that Lucy was on a mission if she killed them so quickly and harshly. Normally, she would have given them a chance to surrender. However, it was her own family and pack that were being attacked. No mercy was rewarded when someone attacked her own so unfair and violently.
I ran through the house as I sniffed out her scent and followed it into the library. I came to a stop as a very large wolf circled Lucy who was standing in front of the two young warriors from Cory's pack that had insulted her on their first day in the pack, they were both very injured. There were also two wolves from the attacking pack who were dead by the door of our shelter tunnels.
I snarled at the large wolf who was practically laughing at the small girl who was in front of him protecting the young men. He took a quick glance at me, but that glance proved to be fatal for him. Without waiting any longer, Lucy plunged a dagger into his throat and sliced it straight across as if it were butter. Blood splattered her and the ground that was beneath the wolf as he crumbled down in a heap, dead.
She glanced at me and then to the two boys. "Help me get them into the tunnels, they're too injured to fight," she said gently.
Both boys tried to protest, but I shut them up with a soft growl.
Lucy knocked on the door with the secret knock that Nat had come up with and Nat opened the door cautiously. She saw the injured boys from her own pack and rushed over to help.
Once we got them in the door, I gently pushed Lucy towards the door with my muzzle trying to get her into the door with the rest of them. She planted her feet on the ground and turned her golden eyes to me with a glare. I whined at her and tried to get her to go again.
"Absolutely not, I am a better asset out there," she said in a huff. "I am going to cover the doors now, Nat. Are you all good in here for a little longer?"
Natalie nodded and stepped back. "Protect our packs," Nat said with a nod.
"We will," Lucy confirmed as she shut the door and Natalie locked it from the inside.
We both moved the bookcases in front of the door hiding it again.
"Have you seen Raven?" Lucy asked with a snarl at the girl's name.
I shook my head at her in response.
"They need you out front to help with the fight. I will go look for the rat," she told me softly.
I whined at her.
"I'll be careful, my Alpha. Go on, we need you in order to win this fight. I'll try to find the traitor."
I nodded and nuzzled her neck for a quick second.
"Be careful, Kale," she whispered with a soft kiss on my nose.
Without further ado, I rushed off back outside to help defend my pack.
It was a grueling fight. I was glad that Lucy had warned us before we left to the other battle of this possibility because if we hadn't of left as many warriors as we did behind, my pack would likely all be dead. I pounced on another large wolf and broke its neck with no remorse. The killings were brutal, but it was either their pack or my own. I would kill a hundred times over for my pack.
The fighting was winding down; we were quickly overtaking their warriors. They hadn't expected as many defenders to be there, thanks to Lucy's brilliant plan. The traitor really had underestimated us. It was a silly mistake on her part.
My nose twitched as I felt power go through the air. Magic.
Witches usually steered clear of wolves and their conflicts. However, as I scanned the fighting, I saw a witch from other pack shooting magic around feverishly. I growled towards the girl and took off in a sprint, I was going to kill her for taking The North's side. I was even sure that the girl was a part of the dark magic that tied Raven to me.
I was almost to the witch when Lucy ran in front of me in between me and the witch. She threw herself towards me making me have to slow down and help her maneuver herself onto my back. I slightly growled at her because I was in quick pursuit of the witch and Lucy slowed me down, but she slightly pulled on my hair making me halt and give her my attention.
"Don't! Kale, look!" She told me pointing towards the witch.
When I looked, I could clearly see the girl throwing her power to help us by hurting our opponents. The witch was against the wolves that had brought her there apparently against her own will. She wasn't trying to hurt my pack... She was helping us. I huffed and stood down at Lucy's revelation. Lucy's hand relaxed in my hair and she slid off me, running back the opposite way.
There were just a few opposing wolves left when I heard Lucy's snarl and deafening growl. I quickly snapped the wolf's neck that I had been dueling with and dropped it to the ground. I then rushed as fast as I could to where I heard her voice coming from.
I quickly skidded to a stop when I found her and Raven circling each other. I growled at the traitorous girl, but I knew that I couldn't jump in. The fight was between Lucy and Raven, Lucy had to show her dominance and power over the other girl. Not only because she needed show it to herself, but also because my pack needed to know that she is stronger than her. I knew that she could do it, but that didn't make me any less on edge.
"You hurt my pack," Lucy said to Raven who had already shifted into her wolf. "I told you that I would kill you for that."
By Ravens snap and growl full of smugness, there was no question in anyone's mind at that moment. She was the traitor.
Wes was on the other side and growled at the smug wolf. I had to force myself to not interfere in Lucy's fight... It was her fight, not mine. I wanted to kill the bitch though.
Raven quickly pounced at Lucy, but with Lucy's quick and heightened wolf reflexes she was out of the way before the girl even made it to her. Lucy then, despite how big the girl's wolf was compared to her already smaller human form, wrapped her arm around the girl's neck tightly from behind.
"You stole my story, you bitch, without my knowledge even!" She yelled at the girl and tightened her hold accordingly.
It was at that moment, seeing Raven struggling against Lucy's hold and Lucy snarling ferociously, that I saw Lucy's true Luna coming to the forefront. It was an amazing and beautiful thing to see. I couldn't believe that I had even felt a single thing for Raven before because right then, all I saw was Lucine. She was it for me. I knew it right then... she was everything.
"I am the daughter of William and Kara Smith!" Lucy snarled and tightened her hold onto the girl even more. "And you... you are a slimy traitor from The North."
Wes howled in surprise at Lucy's admission. Before anything else could be said, Raven whined at how tight Lucy was gripping her neck. Lucy held up her other hand before Raven could even swipe at her and blocked the hit. Without any remorse, Lucy gripped Raven's neck even tighter and slammed her down into the ground harshly. Raven cried and whined loudly.
Lucy placed her foot on her chest and kept her in place while she was lying on the ground crying and scratching at her foot. Lucy was completely unfazed at her puppy defense tactics of clawing her foot and dug her heel deeper into Raven's chest.
"I'm not going to kill you... YET. Simply only because Kale wants to question you. If you comply, I'll make your death quick and painless," Lucy's voice was powerful and animalistic as she spoke harshly to the crying girl on the ground. "If you don't comply, however, I'll make your death so long and drawn out that you will never be sure if you are truly dead or not."
In that moment, the girl finally quit struggling and gave up baring her neck to Lucy in submission then shifted back to her human form. Lucy let up off the girl's chest with a huff. I knew that she had wanted to kill her right then. The fact that she hadn't was amazing and showed how she genuinely cared about our pack.
I shifted back and snarled at Raven. She whined and tried to make me feel sorry for her, but I felt nothing but contempt and hate for the fucked-up girl.
I picked her up harshly and threw her at Wes' feet. "Take her underneath for questioning," I told him.
With no hesitance, he picked the girl up by her shirt and dragged her to the cell-like rooms that we had underneath our sheds for moments exactly like those. They had been built for traders and enemies alike. She certainly fell under both.
I finally turned around and found everyone gathered around the area that we were in. Some were back in human form while some were still too angry and stuck in their wolf forms.
"All enemies are dead," a warrior informed me while everyone else was interested in and watching Lucy.
Lucy was going around and checking over everyone for injuries. She seemed to be dividing people up into two groups: those with severe injuries and those with minor injuries. By the time she was done dividing them up, the people from the tunnels had been let out and Alpha Cory was standing next to me as well.
"No casualties on our side," Lucy informed everyone. "Quite a few injured, though. Those of you who are in the first group carry someone from group two with you to the healers. Doc and his staff are waiting for everyone." She then turned to Nat. "Is there anyway that you and I can get a few people together to go and help? I don't want Doc and Hannah to get overwhelmed along with their staff. We can form a triage unit as well."
"Yes, absolutely," Nat said sweetly.
Just then, everyone else that we had left behind to catch up with us at the other pack's land came running up to us all shifting back to human form just before they got to us.
"Wesley?" The beta from The Smiths questioned bewildered.
Wes stared dumbfounded between everyone as he came back from throwing Raven in the cells. Wes stopped right beside Lucy and stared between his lost pack and the girl who had been lost from their pack. Suddenly he was on his knees before Lucy and had his arms wrapped around her hips with his head rested on her stomach while crying hysterically.
"Thank you, sweet girl. I knew... I knew it was you!" He sobbed. "I knew that you were the hope that we all waited for!"
