Not a big deal -Lucy's POV
Lucy's POV-
I was fidgeting nervously as I got ready to leave the hospital. Doc had made me stay overnight to make sure that I was okay. After staying there overnight, though, I was way too antsy in my anticipation to leave. It wasn't that I didn't like Doc or Hannah, I really did like both, but very few people liked the hospital. Least of all, me. I didn't like to be cooped up in a small room attached to too many machines. I liked being free.
"Can we pleeeease leave?!" I annoyed Sam again.
"No, Kale said that he wanted to be here with you when you left. We need to wait."
"But Doc released me to leave like twenty minutes ago. Kale probably isn't even awake yet! He came back from interrogation after six this morning before I made him go back to his room to get some rest."
Sam sighed at me and looked over at me with an annoyed expression. I was sure that he was bored of the same argument that I've been spouting since I was told I could leave.
"Fine, you stay. I'm leaving." Before he could react, I walked through the hospital room door and made my way outside.
"Lucine!" He called frustratedly while catching up to me. "You can't just make anything easy for me, can you?"
"Obviously not, where would the fun be in that?" I said with a sweet smile as I continued walking back to the packhouse. I patted Sam's arm and kept walking. "I'm sorry you've been stuck babysitting me since last night."
He snorted and shook his head. "I'd much rather be babysitting you than her."
I laughed. "At least I have one person on my side. Well, two... because Nat hates her too. Well, I guess I can count that as three because Cory does whatever Nat says."
Sam laughed at that and agreed. "
What makes you hate her so much anyways?"
"I don't know... She gives off a bad vibe and I don't like it," he said shortly and pretended to shiver. "I bet she's a witch."
"I don't know what she is... Whatever she is, is bad news though. My visions can't see around her, so I'm half blinded by her. The Moon Goddess didn't even see her coming. I can already see that Kale is getting wrapped up in her charm though. When he came to see me last night after being with her to interrogate her, he was... different. I don't know, but I don't like it."
"Agreed... don't worry, you are his true mate. He'll see that we just need to figure out what she wants and how to stop it. At least this will prove to him, after it's done, that you are real," Sam said and put a comforting arm around my shoulders.
"Or that I'm not who he wants and rejects me," I said slowly.
"Kale loves you. Kale fights hard for the ones he loves. I wouldn't count on him just throwing that away for this girl. No matter what enchantment she has on him, you have a real mate-bond with him. Nothing can compare to that." Sam smiled at me after our talking died down and ushered me up to my room.
The moment I got to my floor, it smelled off. I didn't like the stench. I scrunched up my nose as I walked to my door.
"Don't worry, I'll tell Kale that you didn't have a choice in waiting for him. I made us leave," I assured.
"Thank you, Lucy. I'll see you later." Sam bowed to me, but instead of walking away like I figured, he stayed standing there.
I tilted my head in confusion at him.
"I smell her all around. I know that her room is across from yours, but there's no way that I'm going to leave you before I know you are safe in your room without her in there. The last thing I want is for her to somehow harm our true Luna, especially by me not being thorough enough in protection."
I smiled at the big Beta male in front of me and hugged him tightly. "Thank you, Sam. You are such a good Beta... and friend."
He beamed with pride at me and opened the door to my room for me. The very second that the door was even cracked, her scent wafted out of my room strongly making me want to gag at her stink. I had never smelled a scent that I immediately truly hated. Not even Fleming's was that awful at first, but this girl's smell made my eyes water and stomach churn.
Sam pulled me backwards quickly and entered the room before I could. He spent a few moments looking around the room and checking to be sure that she was surely not in there before he let me come in.
"She's not in here anymore, but her scent is all around. She certainly was in here."
I took a single step in and looked at the mess that she had left. My whole room looked disheveled and torn apart. Clothes were strewn everywhere, my bed was unmade, and covers were on the ground. Being someone who had nothing before I got there; I kept my things nice and tidy in respect for the things that I had been given. What the hell was the crazy lady looking for?
I angrily took a step back out of my room and marched across the hall, banging on her door. No one answered. I took a sharp angry breath out and crossed back over to my side of the hallway and knocked on Kale's door.
Kale opened the door after the third knock and his eyes widened. "Luce! You're out of the hospital!"
The aroma from his room was not a good one because her scent was in there strongly making me aware that she was in there. I forced my wolf-side's reaction back down; I had to play this smartly. I didn't want a repeat of the previous day.
"Yeah, you would know that if you would have been able to be reached via mind-link," I said sassily making Kale's eyebrows furrow together. "Sam said that you wanted to be there when I was released, but yet you didn't make yourself available for that, now did you?"
Sam took a sharp breath in when he heard my words and stiffened up at Kale's black eyes. I was saying nothing untrue though, so I didn't give shit how mad Kale got... Sometimes the truth hurts.
Kale opened his mouth to speak, but I didn't give him a chance. I forced my way past him and threw his door open harshly.
"You," I said with force pointing my finger at the girl who was sitting on Kale's bed silently. "Get your ass in my room and fix it back the way I had it," I said it loudly and powerfully.
The girl's eyes widened, and she cowered back slightly.
"I don't give a shit who you think you are or what right you thought you had to go into my personal space and mess up my personal things, but you will go in there and clean it up..." The girl didn't move a single inch. "...or so help me Goddess, I will make you wish that you had never come here to this pack. Do you understand me?!"
Kale grabbed me from behind and hauled me away from the girl that I was towering over due to her being in a sitting position. After he got me a safe distance away from her, he put me down and stood in front of me. I tried to walk around him, but he grabbed me and held me there while trying to shush me.
"You fix this, or I will," I said in a hard voice with my teeth bared. I was so angry that this stupid woman had the audacity to disrespect me and my things the way she had.
He took a deep breath and turned around to the girl giving me his back. The only thing that kept me even semi calm were his two gentle hands that were sitting at the small of my waist holding me loosely in my spot.
"You went into Lucy's room?!" Kale bellowed angrily at the girl who was now standing from the bed and weeping.
"I-I..."
"Why? What did you want to find?" He asked.
"I-I, I don't know!" She cried over dramatically. "I wanted to find out who she is and why she was here. I wanted to find something that would prove that I'm your mate, not her!"
"And..." I said evenly. Kale's grip tightened on my waist, probably trying to tell me to shut up. "What did you find?" I ignored his cue.
"Nothing. Nothing but new clothes and an empty bed," she replied bitterly.
"Because I'm his mate," I said with just as much bitterness in my voice.
"What exactly made you think that you had the right to do that?" Kale asked her in an even tone.
"I was just trying to protect you," she spoke while moving forward to Kale.
I grabbed onto the back of Kale's shirt tightly as she moved towards him. He backed up from her, not letting her touch him by moving me in front of him in one fluid motion, standing as far away from her as possible as his back touched the wall. His hands stayed on my waist in our new position, and she narrowed her eyes at me.
"It wasn't that big of a deal," she spoke darkly as her eyes stayed on Kale's hands that were touching me.
I backed up into Kale as she looked ready to attack. He wrapped an arm around my front in protection, letting her know that he would defend me from her. I smirked in victory at the girl.
"I don't know why you had to come in here, where you weren't needed, and interrupt us over such a trivial thing. Clean it up, it's not like I destroyed anything."
My stance stiffened and Kale went back to holding my waist to prevent me from lunging at her.
"Unless you do have something to hide," she added.
"You don't understand why it's such a big deal?" I enunciated every word precisely as I gauged her reaction. I pried Kale's hands off me and walked forward slightly showing her that I had no fear of her. "Let me show you," I stated nicely before walking out of the room past a bewildered Samuel.
I walked across the hall and hastily threw the door open to her room. I then grabbed the few bags that were sitting on the ground by the closet and opened them each, dumping the contents all over the floor of the room. I saw her try to run in and attack me, but Kale grabbed her by the arm before she could even pass the threshold of the room. I then grabbed the side of the mattress and tossed it off the frame making the blankets tangle and mattress flip over and land on the side of the bed. I stood in the now chaos of a room, breathing hard.
I walked out of the smelly room and stood less than a foot from her. Kale let go of her as he studied me and my angry face. He walked forward and checked me over for injuries.
"Do you understand now?" I asked darkly with a smirk after he was done looking me over.
She growled at me, but Kale cut her off with a glare.
"Now you have two rooms to clean," I said with a shrug moving past her and Kale who tried to reach out for me, but I side stepped him quickly. "Since you like to be in a room by yourself with her so much, maybe you can help her clean mine," I told him bitterly, making Sam gasp and Kale send me a hurt look.
"Now hurry up, I need you to be done as soon as possible so that I can air out the stink you'll leave behind." I walked away from the two of them knowing that I could find refuge in the kitchen with Rita helping prepare lunch for everybody. I needed to get away from them before I killed the stupid bitch of a she-wolf. Then again, maybe that wasn't such a bad idea.
