《Knights Of Favonius》
Act I: The Outlander Who Caught the Wind

✦ • * * • · . °

"Travelers under the protection of the Knights of Favonius..... Welcome to Mondstadt!" Amber proudly told, gesturing to the huge city of wind, Mondstadt. Well crafted cobblestone covered the ground and several windmills surrounded the entire city by a large castle wall made out of stone. A statue of the Anemo Archon can be faintly seen in their background, where the Favonius Cathedral was.

"Finally, no more having to camp outdoors!" Paimon cheered as she look back at the two with excitement. Back then, the three would always be sleeping underneat the stars with only a makeshift tent that the Traveler attempted to build, and a warm campfire that (Y/n) would often cook their meals on while teaching the traveler, the writings and words that Teyvat use. Basic knowledge he should know while travelling through this world.

"Somehow... It felt like the city folks aren't that enthusiastic than usual..." (Y/n) frowned seeing how tense the people around her are. She can almost sense their fear.

"You're right about that..." Amber sighed, before explaining. "Everyone's been put out of place by Stormterror recently. But don't worry, everything will turn out fine as long as Jean's with us!"

"Jean?" Paimon tilted her head in confusion.

"Acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius, Jean, Defender of Mondstadt." Amber seems really proud of the currend head of the Knights, seeing how fond she was talking about her. "With Jean on our side, surely even the vicious Stormterror will be no match for us."

"Oh, Oh! Just like us with (Y/n)!" Paimon grinned eagerly, proudly bringing her hands up and gestured to the quite shocked and flustered adeptus disguised as a human. "Our very own (Y/n)! Protector of our hungry stomach! Paimon never goes hungry when (Y/n) is around!"

The blonde outlander facepalmed yet he couldn't help but mentally agree. The hydro user infact, kept them all fed and alive these past three months. She was really caring and would always worry for his and Paimon's wellbeing.

"It seems that you guys are really fond of each other." Amber laughed as the floating white haired girl quickly hugged the (h/c) haired female without any hesistation, cuddling for her warmth. Their male companion merely smiled at the two and nodded towards the Outrider.

"But before I take you guys to the Knights of Favonius headquarters, I have a present for you, Travelers." Amber told the blonde catching both (Y/n) and Paimon's attention. "It's your reward for helping me clear out that hilichurl camp."

Quickly getting out of her suppose 'mother' figure, Paimon stared at Amber with a slightly betrayed expression. "He-hey! Why doesn't Paimon get a reward?"

"Ahh...Because this reward is useless to you, Paimon." Amber tried to explain, seeing her floating. But with a slight tug of her guilty heart, she decided to say. "But how about this, I'll treat you to a traditional Mondstadt delicacy, Sticky Honey Roast."

Paimon cheered, giving (Y/n) an eager look as if asking for permission. The hydro user nodded, giving her a smile.

Amber then began leading them to the higher ground of the city, where the huge statue of the Anemo Archon, Barbatos was. Along the way, the brunnette would try to make small talks about the blonde's twin sister after agreeing to put up missing person posters. The traveler replied with short discription, quite directly to the point.

As soon as the Outrider reached the location she told them about, she faced the three, mainly to both the blonde and the (h/c) haired female with "So, the present I want to give you is a wind glider. Outriders use them to ride the wind, and the people of Mondstadt love using them too. I brought you guys here to give to you so that both of you can experience it right away!"

She trailed off, realizing something as she looked at the two as soon as she took the glider out from her inventory. "But I only have one glider with me... My old one actually..."

"....(Y/n), how about you take it?" As sweet as a gentleman that the Traveler is, insisted on giving the current wind glider to his hydro companion with a soft smile on his face as if he was fine with it.

"Glide?...You mean like flying..?" (Y/n) asked as she recalled her earlier days. In her adepti beast form, running through the sky with Moon Carver as he taught her the ways of a proper adeptus should act.

It brought back bittersweet memories, with her adepti family that she no longer with. 'They maybe perhaps still harbor bitter grudges after I broke off my contract...' She thought. "Perhaps, you should just give the glider to the Traveler. I'm sure he will use it much better than I would."

"Are you sure...?" The blonde asked her again. The former adeptus only nodded.

"Well, if she insisted then here you go, traveler." Amber placed the folded glider on the startled male's hand who looks somehow bewildered. "Come on, try it!"

"You're really excited about these wind gliders, huh.." Paimon looked at Amber who folded her arms to her chest.

"Well that's because the wind is the heart and soul of Mondstadt!" She proudly told, before gesturing towards the wind glider on the blonde's arms. "Alrighty then, enough talk! Let's give it a whirl! It's easy to use, but you still need to pay attention to my instructions."

"Paimon and I will wait by that store over there..." (Y/n) told them pointing towards the said store by the name, Good Hunter's as she held the floating kid to her arms, Paimon was quite eager and snuggled closer to her chest, feeling the warm and gentleness that (Y/n) aura produced.

Much to Amber's suprise, a puddle of water like portal appeared below the (H/c) haired female, allowing her and Paimon to fall right into it and disappeared.

The portal re appeared right from above startling a local as (Y/n) fell through. Landing on her feet infront of the fountain, Paimon still comfortably in her arms. The two decided to watch from below as Amber gave the Traveler instructions, before getting her own wind glider out. She then jumped off from the stone railings and opened the set of wings, gliding down as she demonstrated the use of the glider.

The male carefully watched, trying to memorize what the brunnette had told him before doing the same. As soon as he jumped, the glider opened, revealing a brown and black set of wings. The feeling of the wind on his face somehow gave him nostalgia. He remembered his own set of golden wings right before the unknown god took his powers and his twin sister away.

Passing through the buildings, he found himself slowly close to landing. Amber and (Y/n) then approached him as soon as his feet touched the ground. Paimon floating right behind them.

"That was great! You're a natural for your first time!" Amber complimented him, patting him on th back as if congratulating him. Paimon was about to say something along with (Y/n) until they suddenly felt a sudden shift in the air.

The sky slowly darkened as the wind around them slowly began turning harsh. Amber glance at her surroundings and muttered.

"The sky..."

A huge shadow flew pass them, looking upward, they were met with the very dragon that the trio encountered in the forest.

The people around them all started running away in fear, The dragon known as Stormterror flew around the city at a rapid pace, delivering harsh and deadly wind that destroyed a few property. He then flew right up and glared at the city he once protected before letting out a fierce roar.

As soon as he did, a huge whirl of wind formed in the sky, stricking down the Anemo Archon's statue in a form of a twister. Several more formed all around the city, sending the people into panic.

Amber quickly lead the trio away from the approaching tornado. Unfortunately, both the Traveler and Paimon got caught, sending them up in the air.

"Traveler!" (Y/n) gasped, ready to go after them if it wasn't for Amber grabbing her arm and dragged her to safety. "Paimon!"

"No wait... Amber!" She could hear the Outlander's yelp and Paimon's screeches in the distance. Having to only watch in horror as the Outrider continues to pull her away. Despite her pleas, The outrider only gave her a stern yet concerned look. "Please, I can help them-"

"As a member of the Knights of Favonius, I can't simply let another person get swept away in danger "The brunnette shook her head, her grip on the Huli Jing's wrist didn't waver. "Let's hope for the best that the Anemo Archon will be protecting both The Traveler and Paimon."

(Y/n) avoided her gaze before looking up toward the storm in worry. Dvalin's piercing roar could be heard through the swirling tempest.

Unnoticed, Her once (e/c) fox eyes glew a slightly purpleish pink along her vision. Harnesing the power of Hydro with a mix of adepti energy. As soon as she had produced enough power, she quickly sent it to the direction where both of her companions are currently at.

From the sky, The Traveler continues to tumble with where the wind takes him, even reaching towards the dragon who knocked him out of his way. Paimon held on to his braid for dear life even after the traveler successfully opened his wind glider. The white haired girl gawked as soon as she saw what was happening. "Huh? How are you staying afloat like this with just a Wind Glider?!"

He could barely hear her voice through out the wind, especially when another mysterious voice guiding him. Telling him what to do much to Paimon's confusion and awe.

The outlander couldn't even barely see with the wind moving directly towards his eyes that he couldn't focus on the task on hand. As if his prayers were heard, he felt droplets of water hitting his cheeks and nose. 'Rain..?'

"Woah!" Hearing Paimon's voice quite clearly now, The blonde suddenly realized that he was surrounded by a slightly bluish shield almost like a bubble made out of water, with a symbol of the familiar flower that he once saw attached to his companion's hair. The bubble was protecting him from the harsh wind that he didn't even know that was slightly hurting him. Droplets of water continues to drip on him as soon as realization finally came to him.

'(Y/n)...' He thought. He can finally focus now. Harnessing the wind's energy he continues his mission with no more hindrance.

(Y/n) did promised that she will be there to aid him in his time of need. Despite not being presenr it look like she really is keeping that promise.

Right as soon as the storm dispelled, along with the dragon fleeing away from the city, (Y/n) quickly run towards the blonde traveler, who was gliding back down to the stone pavement with Amber in tow. The hydro shield that was protecting him soon disappeared, the moment he landed on the ground. Paimon, who was holding on to his braid, finally let go.

"Traveler!" (Y/n) gasped, holding his cheeks with her hands in worry. Without any hesistation, she began inspecting him for any cuts or bruises.

"A-are any of you hurt..?" Amber looked at the blonde and the floating companion, before glancing at the worried Adeptus. "I had to stop (Y/n) from going after you two. She was worried sick!"

"It was so scary!" Paimon exclaimed, rushing towards the (h/c)ette and hugged her, clearly freaking out of what she had experienced in the sky. (Y/n) frowned, feeling the white haired girl shake. All she can do was gently pat her back with gentle whispers of comfort.

The trio and Amber then heard clapping along with footsteps approaching where they were. All looking to the source they were met with a rather handsome stranger with navy blue hair with streaks of lighter blue. His skin is tan and he wore a black eyepatch covering his right eye. The mysterious individual smirked, specifically towards the blonde traveler before landing on the small figure of (Y/n) with a slight interest. He glance back at the blonde who was cleary a little wary of him. "You've actually got the power to go up against the dragon. Are you a new ally... Or a new storm?"

The Traveler could only stared at him and frowned. With the slight tension between the two male, Amber decided to step up and focus on the crisis at hand. The brunnette introduced the taller male who was now known as Kaeya. One of the Calvary Captain of the Knights of Favonius and a cryo vision holder.

Soon, Amber began reporting the events that had happened, also explaining the trio's situation, this lessen the captain's suspicion for the three but he was quite curious of them, especially toward the blonde outlander. Kaeya nodded once Amber finished explaining.

"I see. Then welcome to Mondstadt." Kaeya stared at the three. "Though you haven't arrived at the best of times, I'm afraid. I understand the anguish of being separated from family. But I'm not really sure why you're looking for the Anemo God. But everyone has their secrets, right?"

(Y/n) noticed his tone. It seems like he know what it felt. She gave him a sympathetic look. After all, she too, was hiding her origin from her travelling companions.

"The situation seems to have gotten worst." (Y/n) said, feeling the harsh wind that Dvalin had left behind.

"Seems so, Stormterror never had gotten this close to the city before." Kaeya told her. "First and foremost, on the behalf of the Knights of Favonius, I would like to extend our thanks to you for your help just now."

"Well, we couldn't just leave the situation to fester. When we know we could have done something." The blonde shook his head as he talked.

"Yes. After all, Mondstadt needed all the help it could get." (Y/n) added. "But I wasn't able to do anything..."

"Yes you did! You gave us a shield!" Paimon stated. "You protected us! If it wasn't for you, Paimon would have been blown away by the wind!"

(Y/n) blushed, feeling embarrased at the sudden rain of compliments that came out of the floating companion's mouth. Kaeya and Amber watch her with a small smile. The Traveler on the other hand, couldn't help but feel a sudden warmth on his chest at the sight of her flustered cheeks..

"Anyways, your fight to defend the city against the dragon just now was witnessed by no small number of citizens." Kaeya cleared his throat, getting back to the reason why he was there. "The Acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius is also very interested in meeting you, and formally invites you three to our headquarters."

"Right now?!" Paimon asked, only for Kaeya to give her a closed eye smile.

"Ofcourse. We not want to keep her waiting, now wouldn't we?" Kaeya smirked, before leading them to the huge building with the Favonius crest.

"I haven't got the chance to say Thank you." A voice said, walking right next to the Fox Adeptus, startling. "It was you. The one who formed the shield, right?"

"I'm sorry..." (Y/n) sighed, turning to look at the blonde. "I was supposed to follow you, but Amber refused to listen. She just pulled me away."

He merely grabbed her hand and squeezed it gently, assuring her that it was alright. "Then I suppose I should thank Amber too. You would have put yourself in danger if you really did followed us. You don't have a wind glider with you."

'Yes...But I can run through the wind like the other adepti..' (Y/n) bit her lip and look away. Her conscience was feeling guilty.

"You really do keep promises." He added, smiling at her. "You said you would protect me and you did. That shield was proof so don't think about it much."

(Y/n) nodded before looking back ahead, now infront of the doors of the headquarters where Kaeya was suppose to take them.

Opening the door to the Acting Grandmaster, Kaeya was the first to enter, followed by Amber.

Inside the Grandmaster's Office are two women. The one who seems that she was about to leave the room, look at them and let out a relieved smile. She has grey blue eyes and gold blonde hair that was kept into a ponytail with a black bow. Kaeya greeted her with a small waved. "Jean, I've brought them."

"So that's Jean..." Paimon muttered. Kaeya began reporting. From the situation of the city, to what Amber had told him about the trio. The Acting Grandmaster was then silent, clearly taking everything what Kaeya had said in mind.

Looking back at the three, Jean offered them a kind smile. "Mondstadt welcomes you, windborne travelers" She introduced. "I am Jean, Acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius."

Gesturing to the last person in the room. The woman has light honey-brown hair and deep emerald green eyes. (Y/n) glance at her, seeing how she was dressed, the woman is a witch. "This is Lisa, our resident Librarian."

Giggling at the sight of trio's attention now on hers, Lisa couldn't help but fawn over at the outlander and adeptus's quite so innocent stares. "So are you sweeties here to help us out? You're both so adorable!"

"Sadly, the timing us regrettable." The purple witch sighed, as she began telling them the situation. "Stormterror has caused quite a ruckus in the region since its recent resurgence. Simply put, Mondstadt's elemental sphere and ley lines are now akin to a yarn ball in the paws of a kitten. For a mage, it couldn't get much worse. My skin is one elemental particle away from a full blown breakout."

"If it weren't for this interference, the Knights of Favonius would have better ways to help you than just putting up missing person posters." Jean sighed, she couldn't help but give the traveler an apologetic look. "We simply ask that you repose in Mondstadt while we help you seek out your sister."

The Traveler glance at (Y/n) as if asking for her judgement. The Huli Jing thought for a moment before nodding, seeing the determination on the blonde's golden hues. "We both thank you for your help, Jean..."

"But we couldn't just rest here and let the Knights do all the work, when we could do something." She told her.

"We really should help out as well." The Traveler added.

"Paimon will help too!" The floating companion declared.

"Good. In that case we need a plan." Kaeya nodded at the three, appreciating their sudden will to aid them.

"With Stormterror now directly attacking Mondstadt, we may have an opportunity to cut this problem off at the source." Jean started, now explaining the mission they were about to do. "Lisa has revealed the source of Stormterror's power with her detection magic."

"Is that so?" Kaeya listened.

"They're located in the abandoned Four Winds' Temples." Lisa informed, making the Cavalry captain's attention to shift towards her. "Stormterror's ability to whip up these kind of storms can be attributed to it drawing power from the temples."

"Our objective is to deal with three of the four temples. I trust everyone understands why we are only dealing with three." Jean said, mainly to the members of the knights.

"Paimon doesn't." Paimon shrugged. (Y/n) sighed as Aether look at the white haired companion, telling her that he'll ask later.

"Knights of Favonius, time is against us. The storm is rampant. There is no point in maintaining a defensive position." Jean said. "Alright. We need to take initiative and act before the situation escalates."

With that, the blonde woman dismissed them. The three members of the Knights began moving, off to the temple they were assigned to raid.

"Come on, we need to go there too." The outlander tugged on (Y/n)'s clothes gesturing her to follow.

"Where are we going first?" Paimon asked. "There's three temples in total, we can't do them all at once."

"I think it's better if we split up." Their male companion finally spoke up. But his suggestion made (Y/n) shake her head. She didn't want to part ways with the blonde, not even if it is only temporary. "That way, we would finish the mission a lot more faster."

"Traveler..." Golden eyes met with stern (E/c.) "I refused."

"Eh?! Why?!" Paimon stared at the female in disbelief. "Did you hear what the Traveler said? If we split up, we can finish faster."

"I told you, I would want to be there to protect you." (Y/n) told. "I promised you after all. How can I fullfill my promise to you if I'm further away from you?"

"We're doing this for Mondstadt, (Y/n). Please understand." The said male was persistent. He really do think that they need to split for things to be much faster. That way, they won't be able to waste more time.

But with (Y/n) being a little stubborn, how could they stop wasting time. "It won't be long. We'll see you again on the third temple."

"I suppose..." The Huli jing sighed, finally giving in. If The Traveler wished to, then who she was to object. "Then I will be assisting Lisa for the time being. I believe she was assigned to the Temple of Lion."

"Then Paimon and I will be with Amber. She was assigned on the Temple of the Falcon" He nodded, giving her hand a small squeezed. "Be careful okay? Let's meet up by the Temple of the Wolf. We still need to help out Kaeya too."

"Yes. You too..." (Y/n) gave him a weak smile. "Stay safe. Watch out for danger now."

The traveler assured her that he will be fine, after all, he was a skilled fighter himself, even more skilled that she could ever have knowing some fragments of his history from his sister herself. But she couldn't help but worry.

As soon as they left the gates of the city, they both split up, going to different directions. (Y/n) glance back to see his figure and Paimon's going further amd further away from her. Watching their form, her (e/c) eyes glew a purpleish pink, casting an adepti art protection spell on the two.

She won't take any risk, especially if it's for the two's well being.
