Time To be Dallas

I shyly walk into the DX to see Sodapop with a blonde sitting on the counter laughing. He bends kissing her cheek, "tonight?"

"At the Dingo," he sends her his million dollar he used to send me breaking my heart ever so slightly. This was a bad idea.

"How did I get so lucky?" She asks as she stares into his gold eyes that have always made me melt.

"Lucky Lucy," he winks at her not releasing he said my name which makes me smile.

"Lucy?" She asks. "My name is Charlotte."

"I meant lucky Charlie," he says smoothly.

"Who's Lucy?"

Soda sighs looking away, but not at me, "this girl who I'm madly in love with. She was my best friend and we went out. I made the biggest mistake of my life and cheated on her with another girl. I broke both their hearts. She was out of my life for a year and now she's back. I'm trying to get over her because, it's what I want, but I love her with all my heart. I used to call her lucky Lucy when she would ask how she got so lucky."

"Well she's a lucky girl," Charlie smiles. "I hope it works out for ya."

Soda's P.O.V.

"Hey," I hear a voice I've never forgotten.

I turn around to see Lucy standing there with a huge smile on her face. I flush red, "how long have you been standing there?"

she smiles. "I love you too Sodapop."

"Hey I know you said we'd start as friends, but we both wanna be more than friends," I send her my million dollar smile. "Maybe we can hit up a drag race just us two."

"Like a date?" She asks her angelic southern accent coming out in her voice as she walks over grabbing a pepsi.

"If you want it to be," I smile as I follow her closely.

She bites her lip smiling slightly, "I've missed you Sodapop and how everything used to be. I'd love for it to be a date and I know you want it too."

Lucy's P.O.V.

"Perfect," he sends me another million dollar smile. "A date."

I walk out of the DX smiling a real smile, a smile I haven't smiled since the day I caught him cheating. A date with Sodapop Curtis. Wait! I'm not ready for this, but what am I supposed to do now! I'm going on a date with the guy that broke me, the guy that cheated on me, the only guy that I've ever loved. My ex-best friend. The guy who took everything away from me.

I bump into something that feels like a brick wall and rub my head, "ow."

"Whoa," I hear a voice that I never wanted to hear again, but knew I would if I ever came back to Tulsa. I look up to see his curly hair and glassy brown eyes, "Lucy! Lucy Romeo? I never thought I'd see you again. What happened to you? Walking around clueless probably doesn't help ya much. What's on your mind pretty girl?"

"Nothing that concerns you Randell," I spit out angrily.

"Okay, your still mad and I understand why, but I thought you left Tulsa.I haven't seen you since the break-up," he sighs. "I love you Lucy."

"Aren't you with Marcia now?" I ask.

"How'd you know?" He asks.

"Word gets out fast in a small town," I say venom dripping from my voice.

"I heard your best friend cheated on ya," he says softly. "Just like I did."

"Shut up!" I yell as I feel my heart breaking in my chest.

"I regret hurting you Luce," he sighs as he looks into my eyes. "What we had was great and it was real. I promise you that much. I'm sorry Lucy."

"Whatever," I scoff.

"Listen Marcia should be here soon, but I hope to see ya 'round," he winks. "Maybe cheer leading at one of my games or walking around school studying your cute little ass off."

"I dropped out," I say coldly as Dallas words ring through my head Toughen up and nothing can touch you.

It's time for me to toughen up, to get cold, and emotionless. It's time to be Dallas.

"I'm sorry to hear that," he sighs.

"Yea, whatever," I roll my eyes. "Now get outta my sight you're making me sick." As I walk away I see Dally leaning against the wall with a frown on his face. I strut over to him smiling a wicked smile, "what gotcha so down Dallas?"

"Why ya acting all cold?" He asks.

"Toughen up and nothing can hurt you," I smirk evilly, and coldly letting him know I've gone hard. He stared into my eyes as I stare into his icy ones. "It's time to toughen up."

I spin around and go to walk away, but Dallas grabs my arm spinning me back around, "what the hell is wrong with you?"

"Will ya let go?" I ask coldly.

"What are you doing? This isn't you," he sighs. "Where's the Lucy we all love?"

"Why is everybody asking me that?" I yell. "This is me! The new me!"

"What happened to you?" He shakes his head in disgust.

"I went though depression worse than ever before," I say coldly, harshly, and slowly ignoring the hurt look that flashes through his eyes.

"Well get over yourself," he informs me. "We've all been through tough times and we can't stop living because of it."

"Look at you!" I yell as tears prick in my eyes, but I ignore them, fighting them back for the first time.

He turns away from me in shock with a hurt expression on his face, "well I guess it's too late. I don't even know how to get you back to who you once were. Congratulations Lucy....oh yea and have fun pushing everybody you love away because, that's what you're doing. I hope you enjoy your lonely life because, it's what you're asking for. Enjoy your life Lucy, because I'm done. I'm done with you and all the baggage that comes with it. Goodbye Lucy."

As he's out a hearing distance I scream on the top of my lungs sinking down, "why am I so stupid?"
