Missing
"Is that everything Lucy?" Darry asks.
"Yea," I say. I would normally smile, but since the break-up over a year ago I never found my smile. "I'm gonna go into my old room and figure out where everything goes."
"Hey Lucy!" Darry calls as I start to walk away. I turn around as if asking, 'yea' and he says, "it ain't your old room, it's your room. Always have been. We haven't touched anything in there."
"Thanks," I smile as I limp upstairs into my old room. I walk into my old room and the first thing I do is pull down the box of all my pictures as the memories flood through my mind. I hear a light knock on the door, "come in!"
Two-bit sits on the end of my bed, "want anything to eat?"
"No thanks," I smile weakly.
"C'mon," he urges. "You look like a skeleton Lucy. You have to eat something. He's just making soup."
I sigh loudly as I give in, "fine."
"Are you okay?" He asks as we walk down the stairs. "You don't seem like yourself."
"I'm okay," I say simply. It's such a lie though. I'm not okay. I'm anything, but okay.
"No you're not," he sighs. "The Lucy I knew would be running down stairs with a smile on her face laughing and making jokes. She would be all over Sodapop right now laughing at Dally calling you princess making bets on Steve with me because we all know he's way stronger then Sodapop. You'd be pulling pranks on Ponyboy with Johnny as the middle man. You'd be out eating the gang then laughing about it. You'd be threatening Socs as they pass laughing smiling not shedding a single tear even if your heart is broken. What happened to you and more importantly are you ever gonna be Lucy again? I miss her... a lot. We all do Lucy. Please just come back."
"I said I'm okay," I say as I walk away.
"Four words!" He yells after me. "That's all I get! The Lucy I know would fight me to the death on it! What happened to her?"
I turn around with tears streaming down my face, "I don't know what happened to her, but she's gone. Get over it Keith!"
I storm outside sitting on the porch as I sob. "Hey Lucy," Pony says as he sits next to me.
"What do you want?" I snap.
"I saw the fight," he sighs. "Are you okay?"
"God why is everybody asking if I'm okay! I'm great!" I yell. "I'm gonna go to the DX....Wait no Sodapop works there!"
"I thought you moved in to be friends with Sodapop," he says obviously confused.
"Yea, but that's not gonna happen. I don't think we're gonna be as close as we were before," I sigh. "He ruined everything."
"Just go to the DX and talk to him," he advises.
"How?" I ask as tears stream down my cheeks. "How do I walk in like nothing ever happened between us like yesterday we were running through grass laughing as he tickled me? How do I walk in and just say hey Sodapop what's up?"
"Just walk in and sit on the counter saying hey," he wiped my tears away.
"I miss him Pone. I miss the way things used to be, the times we have to have, the laughs, the jokes, the smiles, and the memories that I'll never forget. I miss it all Pone," I sob.
"Then just talk to him!" He says a little to dramatically.
"I guess I have to," I sigh. "Thanks Pony" Oh yea and have I been acting different since the break-up?"
"A little bit," he frowns. "I miss my Lucy."
I smile weakly, "thanks Pony."
Will Lucy talk to Sodapop? Will she ever be the same? How will the conversation go? Will they be friends? Will they date again? Will they try a date? What's next? Stay gold. Do it for Johnny!
