Hurt
I run into the DX to see Sodapop with a group of girls flirting with him and for the first time in my life, I'm jealous. I walk over trying to get his attention, but I fail. "Ugh!" I groan as I walk off.
"What's wrong Lucy?" Steve asks.
"Sodapop is completly ignoring me," I sigh as I look away.
"He ain't ignoring you, he's just busy," Steve says.
"Can you get his attention?" I ask him hopefully.
"Sorry, but those girl are mean," he shutters making me laugh.
"I know what to do," I smile. I walk into the back room that has my extra bag. I grab the DX shirt and tie it right under my chest than I put on booty shorts and way to much make-up. I tease my hair so it has the poof and put on my stilletoes before walking back into the DX. I walk over to Steve, "how do I look?"
"Like a slutty Soc trying to get Soda's attention," he laughs. "You're only missing one thing."
"What?" I ask cocking my head to the side.
He grabs a pack of gum opening it and giving me a peice, "there ya go Lucy."
He hands me a mirror and I look at myself and burst into laughter, "I look riducluous."
"Go get him tiger," Steve purrs as he pushes me into the group of girls. He starts laughing his butt off immediatly.
I walk through the crowd with ease now, "hey love," I say in a bitchy flirty tone.
He sighs, "hi."
"Wanna go to the Dingo and get a shake with me?" I ask trying not to laugh, but of course big mouth Steve is dying of laughter.
"No thanks, I'm working," he says not looking.
"Well I know a lot about cars," I smirk winking at Steve. "I've been here a few times before and I've seen you work on cars. Maybe you can take me to a drag race."
"There ain't one for a while," he says not looking up. "Can you please just go, I'm working?"
"Okay," I say going back to my normal voice.
He looks up, "woah, you look-"
"Like a slutty Soc trying to get your attention," I laugh.
"Yea," he chuckles and god I just melt. Wait! No, what am I saying? He's my best friend. I am NOT falling for him. "Why?"
"It was the only way to get your attention," I giggle. "Wanna go to the Dingo and get some food?"
"Sure, I'm off in five," he smiles.
"Okay," I smile back. "I have to get re-ready anyway."
I walk through the crowd and all the girls give me dirty looks. When I get to Steve he just laughs out, "oh...my....god....that....was....great!"
"Thanks," I wink as I walk off into the back room getting dressed back into my normal, taking off all this extra make-up, rebrushing my hair than because, it's all starigh and firzzy so I do a french braid. I walk out of the back room to see Soda standing there wiping grease off his face looking hotter than ever. No! Bad Lucy! Get those thoughts out of your mind! "Ready?" He asks walking over to me.
I grab the towel from him, "you missed a spot."
"Where?" He asks.
I put the rag to right over his lip and wipe as our eyes lock, "right here." I feel our lips are like magnets pulling closer and closer.
Our lips are right about to touch as he pulls away, "I can't do this, I'm with Sandy."
I look away in embarassment, "oh yea, I'm sorry. I've been cheating on before and I wouldn't wish that on anybody."
"Not your fault," he smiles as he grabs my hand. "Lets go."
I smile as I we walk. I look over at him and all I can do is smile. I feel like we're meant to be and nothing else matters. No! I am not allowed to think that! When we get to the Dingo we sit down and of course our waitress is Sandy. She walks over wearing a tube top that is way to small for her and a mini skirt, "hey love."
Soda looks up and smiles. He stands up and pecks her lips which makes me want to cry, but I don't, "hey baby. I didn't know you were working today."
"I got called in last minute," she smiles.
"I'm happy you did," he says as he sits back down.
She looks over at me giving me a dirty look, but covering it up when Soda looks at her, "hey Lucy. How are you? I heard about the break-up."
"I'm fine thanks," I roll my eyes.
"Two Pepsis?" She asks looking at us.
"Yea thanks," Soda smiles.
As she walks away I turn to Sodapop, "you told her!"
"I didn't know it was a secret," he explains.
"Well it was," I roll my eyes.
"I'm sorry, but please don't be mad," he begs.
"Don't be mad! She-" I stop right there before I say anything I regret.
"She what?" Soda asks angerily.
I stand up slamming my hands down on the table, "she hates me and she cheats on you! How do I know this because, she slept with Bob! You are just like me though! You're too stupid to release that she doesn't love you!"
"She does love me!" Soda yells. "You're lying to me. Just because you got dumped doesn't mean you have to drag me down with you. I thought best friends were supposed to build each other up not tear them down. I'm sorry you got dumped, but I never expected that from anybody, especially you!"
I look at him hurt evident in my eyes as tears make their way down my cheeks, "wow Sodapop. I never knew you thought that little of me. You know what, don't bother me anymore and I won't bother you anymore."
He stands up, "Lucy wait!" I ignore him and keep running until he grabs my wrist spinning me around, "Lucy!"
"What?" I ask as I wipe away tears with the hand he's not holding.
"Why did you tell me all of that?" He asks. "I know it's not true."
"Believe what you want Sodapop," I sigh as I rip away my hand out of his grasp. "Just don't pull me down with you." I walk away as I cry silently.
***************************************************
The next morning when I get down stairs to see Sodapop glaring at me. "What?" I snap angerily.
"Nothing," he rolls his eyes.
"Can you stop looking at me then?" I ask trying not to sound as pissed as I really am.
"Nope," he replies. I roll my eyes and try to ignore it, but he keeps mumbling something under his breath. I wait until I hear what he says, "bitchy slut!"
I look at him with hurt in my eyes and the whole gang turns to him surprised. I run out of the house as I sob and he chases after me. I turn to look at him, "what the hell do you want?"
"I'm sorry," he apolagises. "I don't know what I was thinking. I didn't mean it Lucy."
"I've said a lot of mean things in my life that I wish I never said, but I've never said something I didn't mean," I cry. "I don't know if I can keep doing this Sodapop."
"What are you saying?" He croaks.
"I'm saying I need time to think," I let out a sob.
"Are we stil best friends?" He asks.
"I don't know Sodapop," I shake my head miserably.
"Friends?" He asks.
"I wish I could tell you," I cry. "I love you Sodapop, like a brother."
"I love you too Lucy, like a sister," he sobs loudly. "Where are you gonna stay?"
"At Bucks," I shurg as I walk away.
Soda's P.O.V.
I watch as she walks away counting every step she takes. I can't loose her. I run after her once more grabbing her by her waist. I pick her up and spin her around making her laugh. I put her down and she hits me playfully, "don't make me laugh, I'm mad at you."
"You can't be mad at me forever. I'm your best friend," I remind her poking her sides making her laugh even more.
"Stooooop," she whines like a five year.
"Are we good?" I ask her.
"As long as you give me a piggy back ride," she smirks.
I bend down, "hop on."
She smiles as she jumps on my back, "I love my Peps-Cola, like a brother."
"I love my doll, like a sister," I smile even though she can't see it as we run back to my house.
Thank god they made up, but Soda was acting weird. Why was he acting so weird? Did he just release how easy it is to lose Lucy? Will her ever lose Lucy? Why did her hurt her so much? Is he to be trusted? Stay gold. Do it for Johnny!
