TWENTY FOUR ; Not giving up.
My hand had been itching to type.

Fatimah's eyes tumbled in the holes of their sockets. Her teeth clenched, so that it tightened her jaw. If only Inna knew how much she despised Dr Muhseen she won't have obliged to her uncle's request.
"Now that you've successfully allured my uncle with a poshy car what next?" She snapped. She knew something was off since she saw her uncle in their house, she also did noticed the way Inna behaved. It were all a headlights which she ignored. Practically, Muhseen had been given the permission to be seeing her.
"Fatimah...please, listen up." He pinched his forehead.
"Listen up, so that you will unstitch my patched up heart? Nah." She turned to see her friends shamelessly staring at Dr Muhseen and his car. She could imagine them saying Fati tayi goshi. Or whatever. She doesn't care.
"Ya Allah. I came to apologize, that day... I was so... I don't even know the right word to use." His eyes were starting to water. If only she knew what exactly he went through...if only she knew how he was able to sum up things and let it sank; that something as big could happen to his life.
If only she will listen.
Fatimah let out a dry laughter. "How would you know? After all you and your family are a junk of wretched souls." She spat and faltered her way inside their house leaving Dr Muhseen standing like an ancient Egypt statue. He never knew she could be this fierce. Dr Muhseen brushed his palm against his face before he zoomed away like a flash
He actually thought she would excuse him.

Sometimes things go the way we want them as if we designed them ourselves. Sometimes, they take the other path and we feel like loosing it all. Maleekah had tried to forget about Sadiqu because it was obvious Mimi was the lady of his choice not her.
She had tried to make her self fall in love with Armaan but her heart was proving stubborn and hard.
When she finished with her lectures, she decided to go and see Mimi so that they will talk it out once and for all. She was really tired of everything.
School and one sided love.
As they sat on the well cut lawns, Maleekah lost her sense of speech. She opened her mouth many times but didn't know how to put her words even after revising them on her way.
What's happening to her?
Mimi jolted her out of her little stance. "Hey babe, something is itching you. Spill, let's crush it away." Mimi said, in a playful way.
Maleekah's lips spread into a smile that stopped right on one corner of her lips. She wished she can fake a grin but she couldn't. The small smile was enough, though painful.
If only Mimi could notice.
"School stress," she sighed, stretching her legs.
"And love?" Leek looked at her sharply. Which love? Last time she checked, she knew Mimi thought she love Armaan. Why was she talking about love?
"Which love? I'm okay and happy with Armaan. I'm just worried about you." She ended it with a lie. Maybe that would be a good start. She silently prayed it would serve as a foundation; something she would use to start up the conversation. The odd conversation.
"What happened to me?" Mimi beat her chest dramatically. This time around Leek laughed wholeheartedly.
"A beautiful lady like you, a graduate for that matter but you're not dating anyone. Are you planning on spending the rest of your life with Maama?" Leek didn't know how her voice sounded, she just knew she was feeling sickish on the inside.
"Ahh, I thought it's something big." Mimi briefly closed her eyes and smiled beautifully as if she found herself in the garden of bliss. Leek panicked at the sight.
"It's big mana, Maama will start talking very soon I'm telling you." Maleekah said in breathy voice.
"I have someone I love, it's just that i don't know if the feeling is mutual." She turned to look at Leek. Leek raised an eyebrow as if she was confused.
"Yes. Remember the farm guy?" Leek nodded.
"Remember the guy with the letter?" Leek's lip were thin. She brushed them with the tip of her tongue and managed to smile.
"The guy I almost hit?" Leek could swear she had never seen Mimi this happy and fulfilled. Why would she be the destroyer of her besty's happiness? No it's not going to happen.
"The one that came to my party?" Leek almost hissed at the suspense. She knew who Mimi was going to say but still she was hoping for miracle to happen so that it would be someone else not him. Please God.
"If you can remember all this then?" She stood up and twirled around.
"He stole my heart. I'm in love with him." She grinned dreamily. Maleekah wasn't shocked at the revelation because she had always thought of it. She found it difficult to raise a finger not to talk of congratulating Mimi.
"Do you think i made the right decision by falling in love with him?" Mimi was now sitting close to Leek.
"No, it's okay if you really love him and he loves you too." Maleekah's emotions were gone. She ought to be happy for Mimi.
"But don't you think I should beg father so that he will fly him abroad?" Mimi's sight lingered on Leek.
"Abroad for what?" She asked.
"For surgery. I don't like his leg, it will be embarrassing for me to be moving with him like that." Oh that? Leek often forget he had a disability.
"No, Mimi," Leek shook her head.
"Once you're in love with someone, you love them all. I mean you love the good, bad, flawless and flawed part of them. You love their character and looks. You love them when they are kind and when they are mad. In a nutshell, you love the whole them, body and soul." Leek didn't know how she wasn't able to control her tears. She quickly wiped it away before Mimi noticed.
"That's true but a little furnishing wouldn't hurt, huh?" She readjusted her scarf and took Leek's hand in hers.
"I love him but I think I need to upgrade the love. It's only him I love, I don't like his leg nor do I like his village. I think once he made it clear he loves me then I will let him know that he have to make some adjustments." Mimi smiled.
"Relationship is a team work. You don't expect him to leave his hometown just because of you. If it's true you love him, then I think you have to follow him wherever he's going to take you. Even if it's a thick forest."
What? No, and never. Mimi wanted to say but she wasn't ready for Leek's long sermon.
"Let's say for example I love Armaan and you love him too, can you leave him for me?" Maleekah's balance was fluctuating.
"As in can I should abandon and throw away all the love and leave him for you? No." Mimi laughed.
Leek knew she was going to take it as a joke but Mimi's answer at that moment was what she was dying to hear.
She decided to rephrased her sentence. "I saw a post earlier, that a friend sacrificed her boyfriend to her best friend. So I'm wondering if you could do the same for me." Leek laughed at the end to lessen the seriousness of her speech.
"I can sacrifice anything but not love honestly. Love is special, unique and rare. So, i can't sacrifice it to anyone. Especially now that I know it feels like to love something." Mimi huffed.
"Even if it's for me?" Leek was taken aback.
"I'm sorry. Even if it's you Leek." Mimi freely answered her.
Even if it's you. It resonated in her ears in such way that she thought she was dreaming.
"You're just saying. It's me your Leek." Maleekah decided to confirm.
"I mean it wallahi. That's why I said sorry. I can't sacrifice the person I love for you." Leek didn't expected it at all. When she was about to answer her, Mimi excused herself to answer a call.
That gave her some space to think alright. If Mimi can say that to her face, can she really give up her love for Sadiqu? Just for Mimi?
'Even if it's you Leek.' She repeated it in her mind several times. On the last repetition, she felt a strange energy seeping into her soul. She felt something strong bugging her. She felt the strong urge to fight for her love.
And so, she made a decision.
She wasn't letting Sadiqu go.
She was going to fight, to have him all by her self.
