Shackles
Yeet im back
~·~·~·~
Years and years of not meeting her, you felt so... unsafe... and... So uncertain... you should be happy, shouldn't you? Normal children get happy when they see their parents after years and years of not meeting each other. So why couldn't you?
"Look, you look absolutely wonderful!" Your mother cheered, her hand gently brushing through your long hair. Her eyes were trained on your reflection on the mirror, all dolled up for a special occasion. "Look at you, so beautiful. Like mother, as they say, isn't that right?"
"..." You went to open your mouth to answer, but you immediately shut it close as a flash from oh so long ago crossed your mind. You turned your head away from her, your eyes glancing over to her bag on the corner where your phone was currently held in.
She took your phone and limited your contact with people. You haven't even seen your uncle and grandparents this past three days. Just the whole three days with her in her hotel. You two spent most of the time outside, shopping, and going out to eat at high-end restaurants.
'It's so annoying.' You thought. You wanted to say it out loud, say it to the woman in front of you. But you didn't have the courage nor the heart to do it. What kind would you be if you were to break your dear mother's heart? 'I want to get out... I want to go to Teru... but I can't...'
"Look at this, (Y/N)," (M/N) called, walking back to the mirror and showing you a small box. A red velvet box. She opened it to reveal a set of expensive jewelry. Silver and diamonds. "Come here, mother bought this gift for you. You'll be wearing this to tonight's banquet, understand?"
You nodded without much choice as she began to put the necklace on your neck. You lowered your head, letting her lock it behind. Or maybe... you just wanted to avoid her gaze... so that she doesn't see you...
So that she doesn't see the tear that was forming on your eyes... 'I just... want to go back... to everyone...'

You stood to the side, ignoring the people's gazes and their urge to speak with you. It was the banquet held at every end of the festival, it was an invitation only party and it was very hard to get an invite to. Of course, you naturally get one every year, not like you ever went in the first place.
But today, you weren't there with your win invitation, you were here with your dear old mother...
And all around you were just another set of people wanting to get close to your family, make connections, try and win favors. And all that shit.
But you weren't interested in that. None of those people interested you.
'Teru... where are you...' You looked around the hall filled with money hungry people, basically a bunch of Eizan's, ugh, what a nightmare. 'You should be here... you won first place overall...'
If you were going to see him, this was your only chance. You weren't going to have another chance if you were to miss it today.
"My, my, you must be the young miss of the (L/N) family," A cold and bone chilling voice asked. You could feel nails clawing at a board with his voice, it was so annoying and scary at the same time. "It is my pleasure to meet such a young talent, I believe that there's no need for any introductions?"
You knew this man. This man was one of the reasons that you did not attend school for the past three days. Nakiri Azami. The one who took the place as director of the school thanks to the majority of the elite ten.
"You seem awfully busy. Your mother has been chatting it up with a lot of people that I believe that you're familiar with?" He asked, a coy smile on his face as he gestured his drink to where your mother was speaking to a lot of people you recognized. They were some of your business partners. "Being cooped up in this corner is lonely. Why don't you join some... of your friends?"
You narrowed your eyes at him, giving him a scowl as you turned your head, making sure that your hair flipped on his face as you walked off, leaving the most likely pissed off headmaster.
You weren't someone who followed. You were someone who led. And you can tell exactly what that man wanted from you just by a look. A look that you've seen so many times already.
A look that... even your own mother had when she looked at you...
You took a deep sigh as you walked along the empty hall of one of the hotels in the Yamamoto area, it was eerily quiet here, unlike back in the hall where it was used or be used.
You hated those kinds of places. Despite what you've shown people, you would rather prefer places where you can relax and be at ease... a place like...
"(Y/N)." A soft voice whispered as you felt someone's body engulfing your own. "I'm so glad to see you again..."
You left out a soft gasp as the familiar scent of spice came rushing through your nose. The scent you've been so familiar with for the past... well, since the start of the school year.
"How have you been, my empress?" Terunori asked with a slight chuckle, his smile illuminated by the moonlight as you two stood by the window. Despite his best attempts, you could see that he's been crying. "Did you miss me? Cause I totally-"
Terunori couldn't finish his sentence as he nearly toppled over to the ground when you jumped at him, wrapping your arm around his neck and burying your head, holding him close, not wanting to let go and return to reality.
"(Y/N)?" Terunori called, placing his hand on your head, patting you gently. "(Y/N), come on now, it's not like I haven't seen you for years-"
"Shut it." You cut him off, your voice higher than what intended, tightening your arm around him. "Just shut up, Terunori... just let me enjoy this... please..."
Terunori's brows furrowed as he glanced down at you. He can tell that you've had some shitty days, your voice was sore and tired, your back looked tense and your eyes had a slight puffiness on them.
He felt so useless seeing you shackled down with your mother and not knowing what to do to help. He has no idea what you're feeling, he's someone who grew up with all the love his parents can give. You were someone who grew burdened with the hatred of your mother. But at the very least, he can tell just how much you're suffering and he wants to reduce that stress and fear... even if it's a little...
"(Y/N)? Do you want... to get away from her?" He asked, carefully removing your hands away from him, cupping your face with his hands, gently caressing your cheeks. "I can take you away, away from here."
"I... I..." You stuttered as thoughts ran through your head. What were you going to say? Would you actually take his hand and run off... or stay here... with your mother...
Would she be sad if you were to leave? Would she blame you for leaving her alone? Do you really want to leave? Who would you choose...
But can you even choose?
Do you even have that choice?
You don't. You can't. You didn't want to.
Not for the two of them.
With much regret...
You let go of your boyfriend's hand and took a step back...
"...(Y/N)..." He breathed out, his eyes widened in surprise as he watched you step back away from him. He took a step to you, but you backed off. "(Y/N)?"
He tried to get you to look at him, but you just wouldn't. You were ignoring him. And it hurt like a bitch doing it. It wasn't that you didn't want to go with him. You would within a heartbeat... but not right now...
Not while she was standing right behind him.
'I'm sorry...' You bite your tongue as you walk past Terunori, walking straight to the darkness within the hallway where the devil awaits. 'I'm sorry...'
Terunori could feel his heart shatter as you walked past him, disappearing into the distance, leaving him alone once again.
"You bitch." He clicked his tongue, glaring at the woman's figure that was following where you had run off. He was quiet of course, making sure that she didn't hear him. 'Hmph, so you think you can keep me away, you're talking to Kuga Terunori. I always get what I want.'
