4: I didn't assume, I guessed

Mark's POV

"Why were you talking to Y/n L/n?" Tyler questions, his dislike for Y/n showing clearly.

"We have to work together for that project I was telling you about in Mr. Hallin's class." I explain.

"Yeah, but you were talking to each other as if you were friends or something." Tyler rolls his eyes at the thought.

"She's actually not that bad," I glance up at the taller male. "she just has a lack of interest in communicating and letting people in so she builds this wall to push people away."

"And how do you know all of this by two days of working together?" Tyler speaks doubtfully.

"Know is a strong word," I reply. "I simply guessed."

"So what happens when you find out your assumptions were wrong and shes just a bad person?"

"I didn't assume, I guessed," I corrected. "there is a difference. Assuming is supposing the case with no evidence, guessing is an estimate or conjecture."

"All right mister smarter-than-you," He holds up his hands. "I'm sorry I'm not as smart as you."

"You could be." I shrug "All you have to do is study."

Silence falls between us. As we walk down the sidewalk, cars speeding past and bells being rung from the opening of past doors, I began wondering why Y/n was out here in such a rush and obviously freezing. Was she okay, did something happen?

"But seriously, you pick Y/n L/n over Y/n Lighden?" Tyler looks down at me with a raised eyebrow.

"Its not like I got to pick my partner," I shrug. "Even if I were, I still wouldn't pick Y/n Lighden."

"Why?" He asks in disbelief.

"Why would I? She's picky, stuck up, never stops talking-" I began only to be interrupted by the one and only Tyler Scheid.

"And Y/n L/n doesn't? She's literally known for talking in the middle of class for no reason at all!"

"But don't you think theres a reason she acts out the way she does? It can't just be for no reason." I ask.

"Attention, yeah!" Tyler nods at his answer.

"Maybe, but there could be more to it. Just think about it Tyler," I say. "When have you ever seen her with someone? She has no one to talk to-"

"So you think she's doing this because she doesn't have friends?" Tyler cuts me off.

"Let me finish," I chuckle. "She has no one to talk to, therefore there is no one there for her to voice her feelings to. She puts up this tough-girl act to make it look like she doesn't need anyone to talk to, to make it look like she's fine."

"But Allen Trembly has tried multiple times to convince her to hang out with him and his friends. Has she ever agreed? Not once." Tyler folds his arms triumphantly.

"Don't act like you've won this argument yet, I still have an explanation for why she may do that." I grin. "Like I said, she acts like she doesn't need anyone so she seems fine. She may not want to make friends because she doesn't want anyone thinking she needed someone before or let them change her so people can see how big of an effect someone can be to her."

"You're thinking way too much into this, bud." Tyler laughs slightly.

"Perhaps you're not looking enough!" I smile.

"I like my idea better." Tyler nods.

"You always like your idea better." I roll my eyes.

"Thats cause mine are always the best!" He defends.

"Whats best is an opinion. Not everyone will agree on whats best."

"Do you have to correct everything I say?" Tyler laughs.

"I didn't correct you, I was just telling you that not everyone will agree that yours is the best!" I laugh along.

"You still corrected almost everything I say."

"And I plan to continue until you get everything correct." I smile.

"You don't get everything correct." Tyler points out.

"I know that, its impossible for someone to get everything correct."

"Then you'll be correcting me for a long time." Tyler chuckles.

"When I said everything, I didn't mean everything."

"Sure sounded like it." Tyler shrugs.

"Well duh, what else are you supposed to think when someone says everything?" I say.

"I don't know, everything?" Tyler jokes.

I softly elbow him with a smile. He giggles and another silence falls over us. He may be the only friend I have but who says you need multiple people to make you happy?

"How is she in your class anyway? She doesn't get as good as grades at you, or anyone in that class!" Tyler speaks, breaking the silence.

"You just can't let this subject go, can you?" I chuckle.

"I'm just curious! How did she even get in that class?"

"Well maybe she's smarter than she shows. Though, she knows she never turns anything in and has bad grades so I don't understand this one either." I stare at my feet as I walk.

Just a lil bit of Mark's point of view of things!...I'm sorry its short, please don't kill me!
