Mark's POV

"I'm sorry," Y/n whispers in a weak voice, setting her hand on top of mine as she sent a half assed smile my way.

"For what?" I asks, concern growing in great amounts.

Another tear slides down her face. "For everything." She whispers, shaking her head and taking a step backwards.

"What do you mean everything?" My eyebrows furrow as my hands fall to my side.

"Annoying you, dragging you down, yelling at you for no reason, constantly arguing with Tyler, everything!" She speaks, her voice cracking as she drops onto her bed, her head in her hands.

"Annoying me? Not at all. Dragging me down? Who told you that?" I say, coming closer to her. "Arguing with Tyler? He deserves it."

I sit next to her, wrapping my arm around her shoulders, pulling her to my side.

"You shouldn't apologize for things you didn't do." I mumble. I couldn't stand to see her like this.

We sit in silence for a few moments. Her dark room matching with the sight outside. Light shone through the crack under her door from the hallway, slightly revealing the floor.

"I can't do this anymore." Y/n mumbles, her voice muffled by her hands.

"What?" My eyes land on her next to me.

"My own mother treats me like I'm the bird in the nest the can't fly," Her hands fall down in her lap. "everyone hates me-"

"Not true," I interrupt. "I don't hate you, you dad obviously doesn't hate you."

"My dad is forced to love me." She chuckles.

"But what about me?" I ask.

She stares at the floor in front of her. It takes a moment for her to answer but she eventually does.

"You just can't get rid of me." She mumbles.

"What?" Was all I could say. I was too shocked for any other words to come to mind.

"I'm not as smart as you, my behavior is terrible, I'm the reason your best friend punched you, all I do is annoy you." She says. "And I just can't take a hint and leave you alone."

"What are you talking about?" I whisper. "I don't care about how smart or obedient you are, you are not to blame for his actions, and you do not annoy me." I reassure.

"If I were trying to get rid of you, would I come over here, worried as hell for you?" I ask, staring at the side of her face.

"No," She mumbles, still focused on the floor.

"I don't hate you, I'm not trying to get rid of you." I say quietly. "If anything, I'm trying to keep you with me."

I hated seeing her like this. For every tear that fell, a single piece of my heart was ripped off. She doesn't deserve any of this.

Her gaze met mine for the first time since she sat down. "Trying to keep me with you?" She speaks weakly.

"Yeah," I nod. "you're way tougher than I am and you do anything you want. I'm just silently hoping you never notice you're too good for me to stick around."

"You think I'm too good?" She whispers.

"Absolutely." I nod.

"You're wrong." She chuckles to herself, setting her forehead on my shoulder.

"We're both wrong." I smile, leaning my head on hers. "And you can do this."

"What makes you think that?" She scoffs.

"You're the toughest person I know. You don't give a fuck what people say or think, you tell everyone what you wanna say no matter how rude, you can beat any guy in a fight in our grade, the list goes on." I slightly smile as I talk.

"It feels like its just easier to run away from everything so I don't have to deal with it." She says, turning her head to the side on my shoulder.

"I know how you feel." I agree. "But I know you can face any situation and win."

"Yeah, okay." She chuckles sarcastically.

"I'm serious!" I say. "You can beat any battle you're facing. No matter how tough it may seem, you're stronger. And if you ever need help, I'm always here."

"Thank you." She whispers.
