21: What else is there to say?
Y/n POV
"What were you two thinking?" The principal raises her voice, staring William and me down, causing me to roll my eyes. I've heard this lecture many times before, do I have to listen to it again? Its obviously not changing my mind.
"She punched me first!" William points at me.
"You were saying things to Mark!" I yell, anger flowing through me.
"I don't care who did what!" Mrs. Faye yelled. "You did it and you can't take it back! You're going to have people you don't like, that doesn't mean you can pick a fight!"
"I was standing up for someone who wasn't doing it themselves!" I defend myself, leaning towards the desk separating me from Mrs. Faye.
The cut on my cheek has stopped bleeding now. I don't know how big or deep it is but it hurts like hell. All they did was give us a paper towel for my cut and William's bloody nose and sent us to Mrs. Faye. My eye was feeling nothing but pure pain, it's probably swollen a little. It feels like it, at least. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the darkest shade of purple.
"You don't need to punch someone to do that, do you?" Mrs. Faye glares at me.
"Apparently I do!" I nod, leaning back in the small leather seat they had William and me sitting in.
"You could've told me to back off and I'd be on my way." William scoffs from next to me.
"Bullshit!" I yell.
"That's enough from you, miss L/n!" Mrs. Faye slams her fist on the desk.
Rolling my eyes, I lean back in my seat. I stared at the clock on the wall behind Mrs. Faye, wanting out of here. She rambles, saying things that I've heard a million times by now. All I was focused on was seeing Mark again. I was worried, to say the least.
Mrs. Faye held the school phone out to me, snapping me back to reality. I didn't have to ask what this was for, I already knew. Next to me, William looked terrified.
Mrs. Faye dialed in my mothers number as I held it up to my ear. It rang a few times before she picked up.
"I'll be there in twenty." My mother sighed, already understanding what was happening.
I nod even though she couldn't see me and hung up, setting the phone down in its spot.
"Did she not answer?" Mrs. Faye asks, brow raised.
"She'll be here." I nod.
Confused, Mrs. Faye shakes her head and hands William the phone. He told her his parents' number as he anxiously waited.
"Hey mom," William greets, voice shaking. "you have to come pick me up. I got in trouble."
I stifle a laugh at his oddly high pitched, shaking voice. Mrs. Faye glares at me, causing the eye roll that followed soon after.
"I-I got in a fight." William explains to his mother.
His mothers voice is heard, screaming at him through the phone. He apologizes multiple times, holding the phone a little away from his ear due to her screaming. He eventually gives the phone back, visibly shaking. Is he serious?
Mrs. Faye tells us to sit outside the office on a wooden bench once we're done filling out our major infraction paper.(Idk if you have those or not but we do and...its not really relevant so it doesn't matter if you don't know what it is...) The two of us walk through the glass door out of the office and sat on the bench, waiting for our parents. After a while in silence, William leans over to me.
"Why are you defending that loser?" William asks, staring through the glass wall to make sure no one sees him talking.
"Maybe because he's my friend?" I shrug, anger lacing my voice. "He's clearly not the loser here." I mumble.
"You're kidding, right?" He asks doubtfully.
"No, you dumbass!" I raise my voice but not loud enough to gain attention from the office.
"You seriously like him?" He asks in disgust. "He's weird."
"What weird is, is an opinion. Not everyone will agree to what is weird and what is normal." I speak, smiling as I think of that as something Mark would say.
"I swear, there is something wrong with you." William mumbles.
"Are you talking to yourself? Because I agree, there is something seriously messed up about you."
I hate making time skips but lets have another one... :D
"Another fight!" Mom yells, slamming the front door shut. "Another suspension!"
"Another lecture from my psycho mother!" I say, mocking her tone.
"What will make you stop? I've tried so many times that I can't even count, yet here we are again!" She yells, slapping the bar as she talks. "What will possibly make you behave like a normal teenager?"
"Many things such as, moving away from this dumbass family, leaving my annoying mother, and living with my dad." I answer, pulling a barstool out and sitting on it.
"What about that Mark kid?" She ignores me. "He is a well behaved, respectful kid. Maybe if he just looked over you at school."
"We're friends, you don't think we're already by each others side all day?" I roll my eyes. "Besides, I won't listen to him. He's tried to convince me, I never listened."
"What am I supposed to do then? What could I possibly do?" She yells, glaring at me.
"Why even try, nothing will work." I shrug, bored by this conversation.
"How about this," She leans on the bar. "You get in trouble one more time, you're out. You're not welcome in this house again."
"That sounds like a blessing!" I yell, trying to keep myself from running out that door and to my dads.
"Well then I don't know what to do, Y/n!" She yells, frustrated.
"You can't do anything, nothing you do will change the way I act!" I groan, beginning to walk away to the stairs.
"Get back over here Y/n, we're not done with this conversation!" She yells as I run up the stairs.
"What else is there to say?" I yell back, slamming my bedroom door shut, locking it.
