19: Do you like her?

These words may be wrong...I can't speak Korean, I'm using some translator app...

Y/n POV

"Its a very subtle difference, but its still there." Mark explains, pointing on the paper.

"How can you tell the difference? You can't hear it!" I ask.

"You don't have to worry about that right now, we'll focus on pronunciation later."

I was over at Mark's today. He was teaching me Korean again. Even though I'm grounded, I still came over. I don't care what my mom will do, I'm completely done with my family.

"Try to read this." Mark says, pushing a piece of paper in front of me with '죄송합니다' written on it in blue ink.

"Choesonghamnida?" I read aloud after looking at it for a while.

"Yes!" Mark nods happily. "That means sorry."

Mark takes the paper back and begins writing something else. While I wait, I decide to break the silence with the question I didn't want to think about.

"So, how was last night with Madison?" I ask.

"Good," he nods, scribbling off what he just wrote and began writing something different. "It wasn't anything big or but it was fun."

"Thats good." I nod.

The paper slid back in front of me with different writing on it. Sloppily, it had '기타' written.

"Kit-a," I nod, sure of myself.

"Good," Mark nods. "that one was kinda easy, I guess."

"What does it mean?" I ask, propping my head up on my hand.

"Guitar," Mark says. "sorry, I forgot to say."

"So are you two official or anything?" I smirk, poking his arm.

"No," Mark chuckles, running a hand through his hair. "I don't know what we are."

"You should ask her to be your girlfriend, and soon." I nod, pretending to be excited.

"Why soon?" He asks, looking at me for the first time in this conversation.

"So she doesn't get scooped up by some other dude!"

He slides the paper back over to me, arms crossed. I look at it confusedly then raise a brow, looking at Mark.

"Well, that just tells me how to say it." I point at the paper.

"You're not saying it this time. You have to say what the word means." Mark smirks.

"I can't do that!" My eyes widen, staring down at the paper.

"Yes you can," Mark nods. "you had this word earlier."

Staring at the paper, I read it over and over again. It sounds familiar but I don't remember what it means.

"환영," (Pronounced: hwanyeong) Mark speaks.

"Thank you?" I guess, staring at Mark. Instead of answering with yes or no he repeats it again. "That helps a lot." I roll my eyes.

He chuckles. "It means welcome." He smiles.

"Okay," Mark grabs the paper and pen. As he is about to write something, he stops. He sets the pen down and slides the paper over to me. "Try to write something." Mark smiles.

"Like what?" I ask.

"Anything you remember." Mark leans over and covers the top half where he has written on. "Do not look at this!" He laughs.

"Okay," I smile, trying to remember anything. One pops in my head but I can't remember what it means. He never said I had to know what it meant.

"아니," (Pronounced: Ani) Mark reads. "and that means?"

"I don't fucking know!" I laugh. He smiles at my reply.

"No, it means no." He chuckles.

He thinks of other things he could do, leaving us in silence. I sigh, propping my head up again.

"Do you like her?" I ask, faking a smile.

"Do you ever let this subject go?" He smiles down at me.

"I'm sorry!" I say. "I'm just excited for you!"

"Well, I mean," Mark thinks. "I guess?"

"Its a yes or no question, there is none of this 'I guess' shit." I push, wanting an actual answer.

He thinks to himself for a moment before answering. "Yeah, sure. Shes cool, she gets me more than most people." He shrugs then looks at me with a half smirk, half smile. "She doesn't ask what every word I say means." He speaks, referring to what I do to him all the time. Another reason why he'll never like me.

"Well, I'm sorry I'm not as smart as you!" I roll my eyes, pretending like that didn't feel like a bullet to the stomach.

"Quick, what is sorry in Korean?" Mark asks quickly.

Instead of saying an actual word in Korean, I make a bunch of random noises. I didn't mean to, he just scared me. A jump scare mixed with trying to say a word in a different language is never good.  We both burst out laughing. Why is it so easy to laugh around him?

"What was that?" Mark laughs.

"I don't know!" I giggle, running a hand through my hair.

"Do you remember what it is, though?" He asks, pushing his glasses up.

"Uh," I think. "죄송합니다?" (Pronounced: Choesonghamnida)

"Yes!" Mark smiles happily.

"I actually remembered something!" I throw my fists in the air in victory. "Now, the rest of the language to remember!" I giggle.

"That will take a very long time." Mark chuckles.

I don't have a problem with that.

"Eh, hopefully it'll be worth it." I shrug.

Just a lil chapter because I can't sleep...yaaay...its 3am on a school night. I'll definitely have fun tomorrow...
