10: She's a nice person

Mark's POV

"Tyler!" I yell, running up to him in the hallway.

"What?" He chuckles amusedly, pulling a geometry book out of his locker.

"I think I know why Y/n acts the way she does!" I state, excitedly. "And its not a guess this time, now I'm assuming."

"Okay," Tyler nods. "go on."

"Over the weekend, I met her family-" I began.

"Woah, wait!" Tyler interrupts. "Why did you meet her family?"

"Well, not really meet but-" I was interrupted once again.

"Whatever, why did you see her family?"

"She came over and my mom made me walk her home." I shrug.

"Why did she come over to your house?" He asks yet another question.

"Why are you asking so many questions?" I smile.

"Because Y/n L/n was at your house and I want to know why." Tyler speaks sternly. Sometimes he's like a strict father.

"We were working on the project," I roll my eyes. "anyway, her mom and her were arguing. Y/n brought up that her mom took her away from her dad. She's the oldest of three siblings, and trust me, they're insane. I have a feeling her and her mom never get along.

"All this could be building up in her with no one to talk to. She also brought up something about these thoughts of someone thinking they're befriending her over a dare or is going to make fun of her behind her back. She never said she had these thoughts, but she talked about it as if she did."

"Well sounds like you two are getting close." Tyler rolls his eyes. "Maybe she doesn't have those thoughts."

"Do you really hate her so much that you're seriously convinced she's doing this for attention?" I raise a brow.

"Absolutely." Tyler nods.

"Your evidence?" I ask, anger rising. I don't know why I'm getting mad about this.

"Her mother has three children. Do you really think she'd pay attention to the oldest one, the one who can take care of herself?" Tyler raises an eyebrow, pulled a blue folder out from his locker. "She's just acting out because she doesn't get enough attention at home."

"You're acting like its a fact!" I roll my eyes. "Maybe if you just met her-"

"I'm not talking to that asshole." Tyler slams his locker shut, turning his body to fully face me.

"Tyler!" I yell, disappointed and angered.

I was holding so much back at this point. There were so many things I wanted to say, so many things I could use against him, but I didn't say anything. I was so close to defending Y/n, like I probably should, but I didn't. There are people in the world who wont enjoy another's presence, and thats fine. Not everyone will like everyone. Thats just how it is.

"What?!" Tyler raised his free hand in defense. "I'm just saying! She's rude, she's inconsiderate, shes-"

"And how would you know all of this without meeting her?" I interrupt.

"So you're defending her? Dude, you used to be terrified of her!"

"She's a nice person," I shrug, a small smile on my face. "if you just talked to her, I think you'd become good friends."

"Well keep dreaming," Tyler rolls his eyes. "What I don't get, is how you like her."

"How come?" I raise a brow.

"You're the smartest and most obedient student here, and Y/n is the most feared, gets on every teachers' nerve, and most likely drinks and gets high for fun!" Tyler explains.

"Is that really what you think of her?" I squint my eyes in anger. "Just because she acts a certain way, you assume she drinks and does drugs?"

"I wouldn't be surprised the least." Tyler shrugs. "And honestly, I don't think you should be around her."

"Why?" I ask, louder than I meant to, gaining the attention of others.

"She just isn't a good influence! Do you even remember what she acts like? Or are you too blinded by your little crush?"

I wanted to say a million things. I wanted to scream at him. But too many were listening, I couldn't do that to him. I could easily embarrass him by saying things from years ago to use against him but I didn't. I held back.

I begin walking away, flipping up my middle finger up in Tyler's direction on my way off. Pushing through people, I passed faces of complete shock. I was titled as the perfect, obedient kid who does nothing wrong in this school. The goodie goodie. I knew what most thought of me. But I knew no one expected me to do that.
