Chapter Five

He ordered the solders back, following them a few minutes after they padded away.
__________

Dream arrived home, fully aware of the fact he was slowly freaking out on the inside. Would he go with George? He needed to leave. He told George they were leaving- what would he even be leaving behind? An abusive father?

Now people would be fully expecting him to backstab George somehow- the news was probably already spreading throughout the Kingdom.

Dream could feel his heart beating in his chest. It didn't matter. He was leaving.

He swallowed, walking up a long tower of steps. His feet tapped as he went up, going at a fairly fast pace.

Dream arrived at the top, brushing his hair out of his face. George had his mask- he hadn't given it back in the excitement.

Dream told himself to calm down, taking in a deep breath before letting it escape. Okay. Everything was okay.

He opened the door to his sisters room, his gaze flicking around. He hadn't visited her in a while.

She was reading a book in a nook at the corner of the room. Her gaze slid up, surprised when it landed on Dream. "Clay?" She asked, blinking. "What are you doing here? Is everything alright?"

Dream closed her door, leaning back against it. "Is anyone else in here?" He asked. She shook her head.

"I'm leaving, Drista. I'm leaving forever." He gulped, telling himself he needed to tell her. She was the only person who would understand.

She took in the bomb of information, closing her book. "What? Why?" She asked. "Were you sent on a mission?"

Dream shook his head. Despite his best efforts he could still feel his heart beating loudly. "I've fallen in love, Drista, and it's not with a Princess."

Understanding came into her gaze. "Is that why you've been nicer lately?"

He nodded.

"You can't just- I don't know, leave," he could hear the pain in her voice. "I mean, she's from our kingdom, right? Can't you just- I don't know, let her have a place in the castle?"

He shook his head, a shaky laugh leaving his lips. "You don't understand. He's not a girl. He's not from our Kingdom. He's a Prince."

She hesitated. "Welll... I mean, that's okay, right? I know a homosexual relationship isn't praised, but- he is a prince. You don't have to leave- we just need to convince father."

"Prince George," he met her gaze, trying to ignore the tears swimming in her eyes, "He's Prince George. Try to convince dad of that."

Worry outlined her eyes. "How much do you love him?"

"I would rather die than face the rest of my life without him." He didn't realize it before he said it, but Dream knew he was right. He wouldn't be able to face what would come.

"Oh, Clay..." she rubbed a tear from her face, standing up.

Dream walked up to her, hugging her smaller frame. "Train Tubbo right, okay? We need a good King."

She nodded, embracing him back.

Dream stepped back, telling himself this was really happening. He was really going to leave.

"I'm going to be gone by tomorrow," he said. "I love you, okay?"

She nodded. "I love you too. You can get-" she sniffed, "two horses out of the stables. One for you and one for the Prince. I wish I could meet him."

"Thanks, Drista. Goodye," he took a step back, watching her expression carefully. This may be the last time he saw her.

"Bye, Clay."

Dream left the room, not quite sure what he was feeling.

__________

Dream was all packed. He had a few bags ready, along with weapons- Dream was bringing a full diamond sword, daggers, bow and arrows, clothes- he had everything he would need.

__________

It was dark out. Dream could feel the horses muscles beneath his legs as she trotted forward at a quick pace. Dream hoped George knew how to steer a horse, because he had brought another one connected to him with a lead.

His bags were already packed. He ignored the guilt that swarmed his chest, telling himself he wouldn't be able to take another path.

His eyes shone in the dark, his mask missing. He had to get into the woods in a sneaky way, looping around the guards that were placed along the path. Now he was in the forest, the night eerie with the long trunks and hooting owls.

"Dream? Dream, is that you?" He heard George's soft voice from ahead- he had heard him coming.

"Yeah," Dream assured, the chestnut horse stepping out in the open. "Do you know how to steer a horse?"

George's eyes widened in the dark, a small smile opening on his face. "Yeah, I love horses," he said, making Dream let out a relieved breath.

George padded forward to the following white horse, lifting his arm to let the mammal sniff him. He had a bag on his arm and patted along the horses side, beginning to attach it to the saddle.

Dream got down from his own horse, sliding off the side. Leaves crunched under his feet as he landed. He walked up beside George, the cold stiff air bringing light goosebumps to his skin.

He was wearing what he first wore when he met George- the long-sleeved white shirt with black pants held up with a belt. He liked the outfit- it was easy to move in.

He brought his hand to George's neck, letting his skin brush against his. George looked at him, his gaze shadowed in the dark.

Dream leaned forward, bringing his lips roughly to his. He heard George gasp lightly under him before kissing him back, and Dream felt his hands in his hair.

He grabbed his shirt, pulling George's body nearer. Dream moved his lips against his, his tongue flicking against his teeth. George abided quickly, opening his mouth.

Dream felt him, the soft part under his tongue, the sides of his cheeks. They broke apart gasping for breath before Dream closed the gap again.

They kissed for a while before Dream breathed, "We need to leave. This isn't really the time." George nodded, pulling back from him. Dream took him in, his messy hair, red-tainted cheeks in the dark, his deep breaths.

Dream smiled, suddenly sure this was worth it. He pulled himself around and onto his horse, hearing George do the same thing behind him.

They trotted North through the forest, Dream's compass guiding them. The horses weaved through the trees, neighing and nickoring, their tails sometimes getting tangled in a bush.

Dream and George talked as they went on, keeping their conversation quiet. George told Dream about his family, describing his three brothers in detail. He told him he had left a note behind to tell them goodbye.

Dream told him his own stories about his sibling and Tubbo- about how Tubbo would be a kind king, about how Drista would be a great role model.

He told him some about his mother. He described his father. He told him stories of training with guards, being able to defeat even the topped ranked ones at a young age. He told him how he felt and what he thought when he met George.

George listened with his heart, warming Dream to the core. He chirped in with his opinions, telling him how sorry he was about his mother, laughing at Dream's jokes.

They told each other what they had brought on the journey. George said he had his mask in one of his bags. They talked about where they would go.

Far, they had both decided. So far that no one would recognize them.

Hours turned into days with no trouble. They passed villages, trading posts, multiple different types of forests. They would buy food from cottages- Dream always wore his mask- they were still too close to the kingdoms.

Often they saw soldiers from either George's kingdom or Dream's who were looking for their Prince. The two always dodged them, going at a quick pace.

They met a person around their age who joined them on the journey with his own horse- his name was Sapnap. They got to know each other and laughed often.

Days turned into weeks and weeks into months. George, Dream, and Sapnap traveled far together, and finally, the world seemed in Dream's favor.

__________

This was a pretty short story- I may make another version of this in the future but longer- probably not.

Thanks for reading! It went quick- I think I only spent two or three days writing it. I could have made the ending all dramatic and stuff, but- whatever. It may have seemed a bit abrupt- sorry about that. Consider following?

Have a good day :]
