Mega Rayquaza

Now, this is a true BEAST of a Dragon type Pokemon, excluding Ultra Necrozma, who is really awesome! Mega Rayquaza is so powerful, Smogon had to ban it from UBERS, THE TIER THAT THEY BAN ALL TOO OP POKEMON TOO!! So now it's only able to be used in AG, or Anything Goes! The reason for that? Well, that's because it doesn't need a freaking Mega Stone to mega evolve, it just needs to know the move Dragon Ascent, it's signature move! So, this allows it to hold an item that isn't a Z-Crystal that gives it a power boost, making it even more OP. A versatile movepool boasts strong moves, including that one time event where Rayquaza can learn freaking V-Create, which has to be the strongest physical fire type move of ALL TIME! Now, uh, let's get into the role it has in AG, but a lot of people fool around in there, so yeah.

After ascending beyond even Arceus's reach, Rayquaza no longer has access to it's Mega Evolution in Ubers, so in Anything Goes, it take full advantage of what it's got. Like the Primals in the games they were introduced in, Rayquaza got an ability related to the weather that evolves it's previous ability. Drizzle evolved into Primordial Sea, Drought evolved into Desolate Land, and Air Lock evolved into Delta Stream. See a THEME here? They all have to do with the earth, land, sea, or sky! However, Delta Stream is unique in the fact that it doesn't boost Rayquaza's power, but instead protects it by taking some of the damage from super effective moves. This means that even Ice moves won't be knocked out Rayquaza in one hit, but there's a bit of a hole in the ozone layer of the delta stream. Set up moves bypass this, so be sure to try to get a Pokemon who can survive a hit get the opportunity. The problem, is can you survive Rayquaza's onslaught of moves?

Mega Rayquaza, like most good Pokemon, suffer from the condition known as 4MSS. You can only have 4 moves at a time, can't switch them during a battle, so choose wisely. You obviously need to have it know Dragon Ascent, one of the strongest Flying moves in the game, so there's that. The next move you can have is Extreme Speed, one of the best priority moves in the world, making it pretty fast. It's max speed hits 361 with a speed boosting nature and max IVs + EVs. It's stats are godly, with the attack stats hitting 180, and the defenses are decent. This means that you can run a mixed set with Life Orb. Draco meteor on this thing is just...just...really hard to tank without a steel or fairy type. Then again, Dragon Ascent wrecks most Fairies. Add in a V-Create or Earthquake for that final moveslot, and you have a monster of a beast. No offense, Rayquaza. Dragon Dance is another potential option, but Rayquaza's awesome power already makes up for that. People who abject their negative opinions about this thing are pretty much right:) It's a beast that is really OP, but it has it's flaws.

This is purely situational, but there may be some teams in there besides the people who well...employ dirty moves like Double Team or Minimize who are a bit serious about winning with teams that are no joke. Stealth Rock can be on some teams, forcing Rayquaza to switch before it can mega evolve if there is a Pokemon it can't take out with raw power. A prime example of this is Celesteela, and the only move that can notably damage it is V-Create. This leads into it's next weakness, 4MSS. It can't run everything - at least what the player wants on Rayquaza whether it's casual or not. Earthquake can hit most Steel types except Skarmory and Celesteela. V-Create hits most Steel types, except for Heatran with Flash Fire. It's up to you to choose between those moves. Rayquaza is an amazing Pokemon, but as it can only have 4MSS, it suffers to cover nearly all of it's own weaknesses. Delta Stream can be bypassed by exploiting the fact it only protects FLYING TYPES from super effective moves! You can still use Fairy and Dragon moves to hit it as hard as you can, but beware, you might be overpowered by it...Life Orb can work against it to whittle down it's HP until it goes down. This makes it very important to not take that many attacks. Other Mega Rayquazas can defeat it with the proper strategy, and in it's regular form, it's very vulnerable to status ailments on a predicted switch in. Let's get to the score now.

 Score: 9.5/10 or 100/10
