Above video is for people who want a guide for either Mega Evolution + it's regular form. Check out MegaCrasherPro, he's a really great guy! Hope you will enjoy his content! He also has 2 other channels.

Here he is, the more popular Mega Evolution of Charizard in the fanbase that revitilized who he was and made him not suck. Y still looks more appealing to me though, but Charizard finally got the typing he so desperately wanted since he looks like a draconic lizard. Mega Charizard X at this point in time is in OU, and is a prevalent physical attacker. I can't help but still be a little salty about those finals, but I understand why it happened now. Stealth rocks can wreck it's base form and it's Y form, taking away 50% of it's health. However, the same doesn't happen in it's X form, taking 25% of it's health instead, thanks to it's new dragon typing, giving it new resistances and weaknesses. For example, it's now weak to Dragon and Ground moves - Garchomp wants a word. Now, let's get into the role it has in the tier.

As you could probably tell, Charizard was never one that would be one for defense, thanks to it's fire typing, and is usually spreading out it's wings in preparation to shoot off with a blitz of fire and for dancing! It's a sweeper who has a tendency to risk it by getting up close and prepare to take recoil or be intimidated by a Landorus. X is well suited to it's role, Tough Claws augmenting the way it performs even more in conjunction with it's high physical attack stat. Before Mega Evolving, it will take 50% damage, but will take less after Mega Evolving, so it can heal itself with the move Roost. I know he's a Dragon type, but if he has the freaking ability to fly, and his in game model is FLOATING above the ground, then why is he not able to avoid ground moves?! *sigh* Well, let's get into what he can do with his attacking moveset, which has 2 variations but are the exact same with one change. He can also have a defensive set that is mentioned above in the video, as the Mega Evolution gives him an extra something for his defense.

His move set when he has Dragon Dance is the following: Dragon Dance, Flare Blitz, Dragon Claw, and Earthquake/Roost. Earthquake is great for Heatran, who other wise walls the other variation of the set because of the ability Flash Fire and it resists the move Dragon Claw, while being able to hit Charizard with a major Toxic or Earth Power. Toxic can cripple it's longevity, with it being badly poisoned, and like all other quick sweepers, he hates paralysis. When he mega evolves, he becomes vulnerable to grounded entry hazards - the Spikes! This is where the Roost set can come in handy, as it heals 50% of his health. In the end, it's your choice on whether to choose either for the final moveslot. Now, let's discuss his defensive set in the video above.

MegaCrasher talks about how Mega Charizard X is going to be specially defensive, and I actually agree with this because it's defense is already good enough in my opinion. Since it's special defense is one of it's weak points, it must be a good idea to invest in that so that it can take Earth Powers and Hydro Pumps more easily. Roost can be run for reliable recovery, and Will - O - Wisp can burn and cripple physical sweepers provided it actually hits. Dragon Tail is actually good on this set since it's now STAB, plus can phase out setup and sweepers! Fire Punch is also able to be run so that Flare Blitz will not be whittling down on the tank itself! Remember to watch the video above to fully understand the set, I'm just giving my opinion on it:)

After talking about Mega Charizard X's overall strengths and it's movesets, it's time to conclude this chapter by telling you guys about it's weaknesses. Don't get me wrong, Mega Charizard X is a great physical sweeper, but Stealth Rocks really bring this guy back down to earth. In his original form, he is weak to Rock 4x, and since SR take into account type effectiveness, they do 50% damage! When Mega Evolved into X, it's 25%, but still that is major damage in the long run of a battle! Landorus-T comes in, Intimidates it, and can use Earthquake to knock out an offensive variant of it quite easily! Scarf Garchomp can go for outrage or earthquake, but it falls to +2 in speed for Charizard. Watch out, though. If you're low on health, then Rough Skin will take charizard with Garchomp. Priority moves are something that other Dragons have, or fellow sweepers like Mega Pinsir can use to threaten Mega Charizard X into submission. He does have ways to deal with these Pokemon, though, with the culminated effort of his team, or using his moves in such a way he can still sweep. Charizard in his base form may not be so great, but I think and believe his Mega forms is the true dormant potential that all Charizard have.
