So. Writing. That's a sorta popular thing on wattpad right? And as most of you know I've read around 600 fanfics in an almost 2 year period. I've seen really good fanfiction that I've recommended to some folks like smut fanfics and fluff fanfics. But I've read some....I wouldn't say bad just...could've been written better. As a fanfic writer myself, I've been in two  phases.

The "as" phase. Basically using the word as too many times in one paragraph. You can see it in some of my older writings.

The big chunk of text phase. Basically when you don't space your paragraphs. Spacing is really important. That way it's easier to read than a big chunk of text. This phase is really common in beginners. I did this a lot.

Now to the topic of this book. Hetalia. What does hetalia have to do with writing? Well for starters the hetalia fandom depends on fan content to keep it alive. Most fandoms do but they usually have an active source. Hetalia for a long while, was on hiatus for years and so that made people start to ignore canon and make more fan content like fanfiction, fan art, and fan games.

The hetalia fandom does have a source that they are related to unlike some solely internet based fandoms like CH, SH, SMH, and other H fandoms.

There are some hetalia fanfic trends that I want to discuss with you today.  Trends that are usually badly written. Let's start off with something strong shall we?

Accents. Specifically Sweden's and Italy's accents.

The accent of Italy is usually written with too many -a. To the point where it's unreadable and very annoying. Especially with Ve. Don't get me started on Sweden's.

N' n' t'lks l'k' th's. I'm pretty damn sure you can't remove a vowel from all the words someone says. Because it's just sounds. Not words. I actually looked up on YT what a swedish accent sounded like and to me it sounded a bit British mostly since someone in the comments said that most Swedes learn English from British teachers. And the lady who demonstrated said her vowels just fine.

Russia's da

Okay I'll admit it. It's kind of adorable. But sometimes people put it at the end of each sentence. Like here, I'll demonstrate:

"Hm..it seems like China isn't here today, Da."

"Maybe I'll do knitting today, Da."

"Shut up America, Da."

да means yes in Russian. Or it can mean yeah, yep, yea, or yup according to Google Translate. So technically:

"Hm...it seems like China isn't here today, yes."

"Maybe I'll do knitting today, yes."

"Shut up America, yes."

Writing France

Let's get one thing straight, France is NOT a rapist. He has never raped and most likely values consent. As stated in the wiki when someone gets uncomfortable with his excessive touching, he will stop on command. France is such a good character, it's a shame how the fandom has ruined him. Like seriously, all his songs are fecking gold, his design is awesome, and his personality is probably the only likeable one in fanfiction.

England

You knew this was coming huh? Both CH and Hetalia have another thing in common, and that's making England an abusive, homophobic, little shit who doesn't care about any of his colonies and who abused his children. Specifically in fanfics with America as the main character.

Now, that's a little bit better than him being a whiny, tsundere, crybaby, bottom bitch who bitches at France and America for simply looking in his direction. But it's not a whole lot better. At least the people who headcanon him as a rat man only take it to like alcoholism and shit, nothing on that side, well from what I've seen, says nothing about him abusing America.

Here are some bad things he's done to America though in canon:

● Choked him
● Called him a fatass
● has called him diabetic
● has insulted him numerous times
● has probably hit him
● has insulted his ideas
● insulted his plane

And that's as an adult

● Has left him alone for long periods of time
● Never told him about immortality
● dropped him that one time
● Told him to shut up one time

And that's all I can thing of. Like the dropping thing and that shut up thing I've seen in the dubbed version of the anime, but the dropping thing is still dropping. It was like him dropping those small dogs that keep squirming.

Neglect in the state of Virginia is considered abuse. But we don't know where most of these took place. Most people say he was raised in the Jamestown settlement so considering that's where the first colony was, we can say the neglect was technically in the state of Virginia.

But the stuff he did to him as an adult we don't know where or when it took place. So we can't see the laws for that specific location. It was either a G8 or allies meeting. We don't know.

Now of course, you can write him as whatever you want, but remember the title of this whole book. I just get tired of seeing it since it's a bit overdone.

Writing Germany as a Nazi

Don't.

I honestly would have more to say, but just take a look at the Kami Drama chapter and then think about it.
