The Different Sides of A Fandom

I have a way to categorize a fandom that I've been in, or am currently in. I don't categorize canon, but instead I categorize fanon or fanfiction/fanworks. It usually has to do with social media or fanfiction apps/websites.

The sides of a fandom I include are the:

YouTube Fandom
Instagram Fandom
Tumblr Fandom
Reddit Fandom
Twitter Fandom
Wattpad Fandom
Fanfiction.net Fandom
Ao3 Fandom

Sometimes this list changes though. If I search up fanfiction and no fan works pop up, I usually just stick to social media. If there's not a lot of social media but there's a fuck ton of fanfiction, then I'll stick to fanfiction. If the fandom is completely empty then there's no way I can assess them.

This little ranking is like the different personalities of a fandom, which I also like to categorize as:

Crackheads
Shit Posters
Memesters
Writers
Artists
Just There

Basically the personalities of a fandom. The crackheads are the ones who make those piss memes, the shit posters make actual content of the source media but with more jokes, the memesters make memes, writers are the ones making fanfiction or serious fanfiction with a plot, artists draw art, and just there is basically the people looking to have a good time and not make any fan content.

Sometimes, each personality is different, or can mean different things. Writers can also have people who assess the actual source. Fan theories, how each character did this, lore, ect..

Artists can include animators, so does shitposters and memesters. Crackheads are a whole other breed.

Just There can also include mean people. Aka they start drama cause they're so bored with not being able to do anything.

But what you see on one platform can also be different on other platforms. For example, I see more serious artists in Hetalia Instagram than on Hetalia Tumblr. I see more serious writers on Hetalia Fanfiction.net then on Hetalia Wattpad.

In another fandom though like Danganronpa, I see more serious writers on Danganronpa Wattpad than on Danganronpa Ao3, and I see more serious artists + crackheads on Danganronpa Instagram while on Danganronpa Tumblr I see more shitposts.

Sometimes each social has a certain constant that stays there.

YouTube: Animators + Serious Videos
Tumblr: Funny stuff
Instagram: Art
Reddit: Memes and Horny people
Twitter: AHHH THIS IS OFFENSIVE CANCEL
Wattpad: Edgy fanfiction or Funny fanfiction
Ao3: Funny, edgy, or horny fanfiction
Fanfiction.net: Well written fanfiction with more serious fanfiction.

But then again, all fandoms are different. Some fandoms fit with the source material. Like if the source material is dark, then so is the fandom. While sometimes the fandom doesn't fit with the source material. The source material might be happy and cheerful while the fandom is dark, edgy, and angsty. Believe me, I've seen it.

Also sometimes there's a Facebook fandom. Sometimes. I've seen a Facebook fandom for Hetalia. Well, more like an account for UsUk stuff. There's also a Facebook fandom for TBHK, but it was filled with Tsukasa x Hanako(aka incest).

And that's my little guide on how I assess a fandom or something like that. Fandoms that I usually look for content on different platforms(hope that made sense):

TBHK: Instagram, Reddit, YouTube
Hetalia: Instagram, Wattpad, Fanfiction.net, Ao3, Tumblr
HxH: YouTube
Danganronpa: Reddit, YouTube, Instagram, Ao3
Vocaloid: Instagram, YouTube, Tumblr
FnF: Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Reddit
CH: Instagram, Reddit
Obey Me: Instagram, Reddit, YouTube
Genshin Impact: YouTube, Reddit, Instagram

I think that's all the fandoms I'm in? To be honest there are some fandoms that I don't like talking about that much, and some I just genuinely forget I'm in. Like I think I'm in some hentai fandoms I legit don't know.

Oh God I kinda feel sick. I think I wrote too much today. Well then, see y'all soon!
