One Of The Most Confusing Relationships In Hetalia
I just finished watching a reaction to episode 20 season 1 of hetalia. And I realized something. America and England's relationship is one of the most confusing things in Hetalia.
Let's start from the beginning shall we? By the way, everything is going to be referenced from what I saw in the anime and webcomic so it might not be a hundred percent exact.
America was first seen in a bush by Finland, England, and France, making Finland one of his founders. England and France fought over America, America giving pity to England since he was in the corner crying after France coaxed America to come with him with food. Since England scared America and France.
Another scene that is referenced a lot in fanfiction is the buffalo scene. Where England finally takes America with him. America says: "Then I guess I'll call you big brother!" Making England remember that he never once was called a big brother. He says to America(from what I can remember) to just call him England.
England is then seen carrying America, singing to him softly and then America wakes up. He jumps out of England's arms to a buffalo, England ready to fight the creature but then America swings it into a tree.
England brings America to a house and that's all I can remember from those episodes.
Episode 17. First memory. America is given the toy soilders, after England breaks his arm using a hammer(somehow?). America is excited about them and England gives him a soft look of affection.
Episode 17. Second memory. America is now a teenager. Maybe around 15 to 17 years old. England gives him a suit, insulting America's choice of style. America says that he'll wear it on special occasions.
Episode 20. Last memory. The Revolutionary War. America says he is bo longer England's little brother. This can be taken as him disowning England as his big brother, or telling him in a way that he's not a child anymore, that he's not his little brother to protect and shield away from the world.
Most people tend to think of this as America disowning England, but who know what Hima was going for? Usuk isn't canon. Only one ship is somewhat canon and that's SuFin.
Now let's talk about if England's adoption of America is legal. It probably isn't. England kinda just "found"(remember Finland found him first) a random ass kid in a field and was like "B r o t h e r."
Most people take England and America's relationship as the following:
● Father/Son or Mother/Daughter
●Brother/Brother or Sister/Sister
●Lover/Lover
●Complete strangers
●Friends
●Half brother or Half sister
●Roommates
And that's all the common ones I've seen. Also the half siblings thing is from a dj I read last night cause I was bored.
What do I take it as? I would say it would depend on the theme of the oneshot. So far the only things they've been perceived as in my oneshots are lovers and friends.
Does taking a kid from a field count as adoption? Please tell me your opinions in the comments.
Let's talk about the one thing that I've seen been proven false. The tweet where Hima said that England had a crush on America.
One, Hima is Japanese. Hetalia is a Japanese product. So how would some English fangirl now fucking Japanese?
Two, it was deleted.
Three, wouldn't it be on either America's or England's page on the hetawiki?
Four, if some English fangirl actually translated it, they probably would've used Google Translate which isn't accurate.
As I said in a previous chapter, don't believe everything you see on the internet. Not everything is made by Hima himself. If it's recent then I doubt it's Hima since Hetalia had been on a hiatus for literal years. I doubt Hima would just drop some Hetalia shiz on us so suddenly.
So...what IS America's relation to England? If America even is related to him. Honestly, I don't know. For a while America called England his big brother, and said he wasn't his little brother anymore, which can be received as disowning England, or telling England that he isn't a child anymore.
Then we have all the shippers saying USUK IS CANON when honestly that's debatable. I think the whole reason there are no canon ships in the anime is because most countries have had beef with eachother, or it's just not something Hima was thinking about.
Then we have all these weird ways we can perceive their relationship to eachother. Like I don't think of them as father and son, mostly cause they're too close in human age. (America: 19 and England: 23)
So basically, America and England's relationship is what you perceive as. Just don't bash others just because they ship UsUk(or in my case UkUs.)
Because then it's gonna make you seem like a jackass who doesn't respect people's opinions.
Tell me what you perceive them as. Ik quite curious.
Also, shouldn't all nations be related to eachother distantly because of colonialism and pangaea?
Anyways I've completely given up on the smut chapter because what's the point. So yeah, please tell me your opinions! Bye.
