some of this is fact and some is opinion. I'll say when it's fact

1. it's okay to share photos on the internet as long as you don't keep them up forever and they're not important photos like your passport photo or drivers license. esp if you're a minor and have private socials, people can't rly find you through a photo. if you're an adult it's much, much easier. 

although ik rly everything you put on the internet is permanent, if you keep it up for less time it reduces the chance of someone screenshotting it. it's just important to remember that it could happen even if you have it up for five seconds so don't post like nudes (or send them, unless you're pretty much married but even then--phones can be hacked)

another addition: keep all your socials private, esp instagram bc that's where a lot of people post photos and it's where future colleges or jobs will check! jobs and colleges will do background checks and google your name. if a photo turns up of you underage drinking you're probably not gonna get into Harvard so be careful

2. it's okay to share your name online, but not your full name, unless you're trying to get it recognized. for example: if you're a minor on this website who is writing fan fiction and trying to make online friends, don't share your last name at all. it's not a good idea to have that out there if you don't want it. 

but if you're an adult author who's trying to make their name popular and their books interesting, then sure, full name. just be careful, because that makes it easier to find you. 

I will say--online hackers can't find who you are from your bio that says 'Judy from california'. I bet there's plenty of people named Judy in california. you're okay.

3. this is an opinion: I like to share my age on my socials. this is mainly bc I would like people to know that I am a minor so they don't try anything weird, and if they don't want to interact with minors, they won't accidentally. plus, a lot of the people on this website are around the same age as me.

I also do have experience with pedos and feel like I can handle myself in the situation of one trying to interact with me. 

finally, if you're below thirteen, which I know many of you are, don't put your age in your bio or anywhere on here! wattpad can ban you because you did break the agreement you clicked on when you made your account. 

(from my own personal experience I would say that it's not good or healthy to be on wp before you turn thirteen. I was on here when I was very very young and saw things I really should not have and it was not good or beneficial)
