Wattpad is a community riddled with cliche storylines. There's no denying this. And the sad truth is that these cliche storylines usually gain far more reads and votes than 'original' (there's never a truly original story anymore) story ideas.

There are some cliches I can't stand. The bad boy cliche. The stepbrother one. The teacher. The love-at-first-sight. They annoy me massively because these stories never seem to have substance to them. They're just lovey-dovey stories where the only problem a couple faces is a malicious ex-partner.

But at the end of the day, these cliches aren't going to go away. People will still be write them. I just wish people would write these cliches better, with clever plots and good writing. Okay, have your bad boy but make him go on a journey of self discovery in Ukraine where he meets the girl of his worst nightmares. Have your love-at-first-sight but the main character is in disguise to avoid a angry murderer, and so the other person involved is constantly falling in love with two separate appearances. I don't know, you come up with the plots.

Twist a cliche and make it fresh.
