Epilogue
Thea's POV
"What are you making?" I heard a voice curiously asked from beside me, the owners eyes looking at the mess I had made on the kitchen countertop with flour.
"Cookies— because the ones I bought tasted so bad that it motivated me to learn today how to bake some." I replied, pointing at the trash bucket with my finger and pausing the YouTube video which was playing on my now-covered-in-flour phone. Sunghoon waddled towards the trash can and peeked into it, his face scrunching up seconds after.
"You bought oatmeal and raisins flavour?!" He asked, his expression telling me that he was trying very hard not to gag. "No wonder you hated it."
I burst out laughing, shaking my head at my boyfriend's words.
"If made properly, they taste pretty good." I said, softly patting his cheek before I realised my hands were literally coated with flour and butter. His eyes widened as he cursed under his breath, followed by dipping his hand in the bowl and smearing the mixture across my cheeks.
Laughter spilled forth his lips as he saw me keep away the bowl, worried about the fact that if this goes on, there would be no mixture to bake and rather we would have to bake our faces and eat the cookies off of them.
"You stinking piece of—" I muttered playfully, grabbing a handful of flour out of the bag and blowing it up on his face. He stood there in shock looking like a white-faced ghost while I literally split my sides open laughing.
"Agent Rivera, you are going to regret this!" Sunghoon whisper-shouted which literally made me run for my dear life with him on my heels.
"Stop Sunghoon! You are ruining the entire house!" I managed to yell through my laughter, jumping over a couch and making my way to the corner of the living room while he ran after me, one of his fist full of flour.
"You started it!" He replied, slowing down in his tracks after seeing me stand in the corner, catching my breath.
"It was an accident." I explained, while he inched towards me with his hand full of flour raised in a position to attack. I looked to my side and saw a vase full of flowers kept on the table, giving me an idea.
I picked up a red flower out of the lot— let's just call it a 'flower' because I don't know my botany— and sat down on my knees, offering it to Sunghoon.
"My love!" I exclaimed dramatically, pretending to be some desperate love bird in those soap operas who was trying to impress their lover. "Consider this flower as my love and accept it— for I have nothing left in this world apart from you." I added, pretending to cry out of joy after being able to talk to my 'amazingly awesome and insanely handsome soap opera type' crush like that.
When I tell you that man was so confused— poor guy looked like he just witnessed an alien throw it back like a pro.
Well, luckily my plan was working because he accidently opened his fist and spilled all the flour on the floor.
Mission accomplished, ha!
"Lady you good?" He asked, taking the flower from me and staring at it as if he was expecting some hidden message.
"I'm awesome, especially after seeing you forgot the purpose you were chasing after me." I replied quickly in my normal tone without any exaggeration unlike before and walked away. I heard him facepalm from behind me, while I grabbed a towel and wiped my face and hands clean.
"I see how it is..." He said with a solemn tone, walking into the bathroom. I chuckled to myself and went back to my work. After a couple of minutes, I herd footsteps approach towards me, making me look up only to see Sunghoon standing beside me.
"M'lady," He spoke up, handing me the same flower which I had given him back— the only thing being that his face was now clean unlike before.
"Thanks?" I muttered, not quite sure of how I should respond to being given the same present I gave the man sometime back.
"Miss Rivera!" He began, his voice suddenly laced with great emotion. "I have realised that the day I helped you with your grocery bags, I was in love with you." He added dramatically, confirming my suspicions. I chuckled, deciding to play along with him.
"Ah yes, the day when my delicate self went out shopping in the hot sun!" I exclaimed, placing my arm on my forehead and pretending to be remember the sufferings I had to go through that day.
"I was in shock when you confessed, for I was already in love with you." Sunghoon went ahead with the drama further, holding one of my hands in his to look realistic.
"My love! My heart only belongs to you and if you not accept it, I shall unalive myself!" I dramatically pretended to faint and fall, but my hand with which I was helping my body to 'fall' accidently slipped, resulting in a very realistic fall.
So insanely realistic that I actually fell.
"Shit—" I muttered, internally praying that I don't hit my head and die. Thanks to Sunghoon's fast reflex, he actually caught me before I landed on the floor and knocked out some precious braincells.
"Drama turned to reality, huh?" He asked, raising one of his eyebrow. I rolled my eyes at him and grabbed the edge of the countertop, when my beloved boyfriend smacked my hand away, leaving me hanging in the air with his hand on my back preventing me from falling further.
"What? Let me get up, idiot." I muttered, my eyebrows furrowed at him.
"Drama isn't finished, m'lady." He whispered, his lips curving up into a smug smile.
Oh God, help me.
"My darling, I shall protect you from the world. For a flower this delicate is too pretty to be hurt." Sunghoon spoke softly, acting like the male lead from a typical romantic scene from a television drama. Only difference being that unlike the actors, his expression gave away that he actually meant it.
I politely ignored the 'delicate flower' line because at this point, I think Sunghoon already knew this person whom he was calling a 'delicate flower' can sure break bones and teeth.
But the first line? Damn Dipshit, shut up before I explode.
"And I shall stand by you in every moment of life till death do us apart." I said, a genuine smile adorning his face after he realised that my statement was more than just a dialogue.
"Damn Rivera, how did you become so cheesy?" He whispered, our faces barely inches away.
"Can't help it when my boyfriend is Mr. Cheesy himself." I replied, our lips about to touch each other when suddenly Sunghoon's phone started ringing, making him click his tongue in annoyance. I raised my head slightly and gave him a quick peck on his lips, making him furrow his eyebrows at me.
"Priorities, Sunghoon. Pick up the phone." I said, resulting in the male to help me stand up on my feet and walk away grumbling. He checked the caller ID and muttered a few rude curses under his breath, picking up the call.
"Wrong time, Heeseung. Couldn't you call like— two minutes later?" Sunghoon angrily spoke into the phone, making me laugh. "I hate you, dude. You better stop laughing before I punch your face."
"Come on, Dipshit. Even if sky falls on our head, you wouldn't hate him." I commented, earning a glare from him. After having a small quarrel with Heeseung, he motioned me to come near him and put the phone on speaker.
"Yeah, phone's on speaker." Sunghoon informed his friend, earning a curious look from me to which he responded by shrugging his shoulders.
"So the thing is— Jay's back here at the office. He brought some important news." Heeseung said, the tone of his voice pretty serious. "I'm on my way to the agency. Mr. Brown told me to call in you guys too."
"New mission?" I asked, a part of me happy and curious about the new developments while the other worried about the danger lying in it.
"Not sure. Even I don't know much— maybe everything will be clear at the meeting." He replied, earning a hum in response from the male beside me.
"We'll be there in fifteen minutes."
━━━━━(🍂)━━━━━
Both of us walked through the familiar corridors and into the meeting room, where usually discussions were held or we were given missions. It had been around a year since we had exposed the conspiracy in the agency, everything now being back to normal.
I noticed Heeseung sitting on a chair beside Jay, while Mr. Brown spoke to the latter.
If I have forgotten to mention before— Jay was now actually stationed here and worked under Mr. Brown, making him an another player on our team. Pretty cool, isn't it?
"Good evening Agent Rivera and Agent Park." Mr. Brown greeted us, which we acknowledged with a nod. I sat opposite to Heeseung while Sunghoon sat opposite to Jay, the four of us looking forward at the screen which showed a picture of a news article about a ban on some drugs.
"I think Agent Lee has informed you that Agent Park—" Mr. Brown stopped, looking at Sunghoon and Jay while they looked at each other and tried very hard not to laugh.
Either that or both of them were resisting the urge to fart at the same time.
"Let's just go with names, sir." Heeseung suggested, to which Mr. Brown cleared his throat, his pressed lips telling me that he himself was trying not to chuckle.
"So, Jay has been successful in doing what I had told him to." He began, giving a sharp nod at Jay to acknowledge his accomplishment. "Our suspicions have been confirmed. The drug which was banned a couple of years ago for being a calling card for a disaster, has fallen into the wrong hands." He continued, changing the slide to that of a list of names, around five of them being highlighted.
"The names which have been highlighted— we are sure that these people are included in the activities." He explained, before switching onto the next slide which wrote a couple of effects of the drug which was mentioned.
"The drug, Sollertia, is a mind controlling drug which can be very lethal if the after affects are not treated, them ranging from heart attack to brain stroke, which can lead to death— without forgetting the fact that when under it's influence, one can commit crimes if they are ordered to." He added and looked at us only to see our jaws almost hanging.
"It seems the terrorists have made a deal with the criminals who posses this, and plan to use it for things which cause harm to people, whether its suicide bombing or infiltrating units to extract nuclear codes." Mr. Brown explained further, when Jay decided to add to it.
"Recently, there have been reports from countries that some of their army personnel have been reported missing after a suspicious series of events in those countries which no one could foresee— many of them being small and random bombings which led them to send troops to investigate, some members of the troops going missing during the investigation." Jay spoke up, making Mr. Brown switch to another slide which contained photographs of the said men and women.
"We have got to know that they are probably going to be exposed to that drug— to, perhaps, work for the criminals under the influence of the drug. Later on if they are successful, the criminals can simply get rid of the people or leave them to the after effects of the drug." Mr. Brown said, turning back to look at the pictures of the people.
I stood up and walked forward to have a closer look at the photographs when suddenly, I felt the air within me get sucked out after spotting a familiar face among the lot.
"Oh no, this can't be true—" I muttered, my eyes fixed at the male's picture.
"What happened Thea? Do you know him?" Jay asked from behind, while Sunghoon stood beside me to observe the picture I was looking at.
"Who is he?" Sunghoon asked, looking at me with a worried expression on his face.
"That's Thomas, Sunghoon. That man in the picture whose face was covered with cake— Eugene's older brother." I replied, trying to bend my mind around the fact that Thomas had actually been kidnapped by these people and his life was in danger.
"Holy shit!" Heeseung exclaimed from behind, making all of us look at him in surprise. "Thea we can use that as the lead!" He added, a glint of hope in his eyes when suddenly, it struck me.
He was right. With this we can actually manage to get to the end of this and put a stop to it. We just have to locate Thomas in order to find all the victims' location— provided that they are kept in the same place; which is what is usually done.
"Heeseung's right, Thea. One of the victims being a friend of yours can help us get closer to the root of this in time." Mr. Brown spoke up, everyone agreeing to his statement.
"So new mission, huh?" Sunghoon muttered, having a good look at the photographs for the last time.
"More like death trap. But I ain't complaining." Jay commented while shrugging his shoulders, making us laugh at his statement.
"Come on guys, we got some asses to kick." Heeseung spoke up, a mischievous grin on his face.
"And lives to save." I added and looked at Mr. Brown, who simply smiled at us encouragingly.
Alright, this is going to be a hell of a ride.
