Take the shot

Y/N's POV~

I was hoping that communicating with Iris through her headset would help her. I think it did. She had gotten splatted once already. She only had two chances left to defeat them, or the great Zapfish, Marie and Callie would be gone forever.

I didn't want to imagine loosing them. But I couldn't cave in at a time like this. They needed love and support and help, not frantic panic and stress. As I continued to communicate with her, Sheldon arrived and snapped me out of the focus.

"Just...just keep going! I'll be there soon!"

I closed the laptop that I was using to watch the fight from the cabin, and looked up at Sheldon.

"You ready Y/N?" He asked me. Normally I don't show this much affection towards him but I walked up to him and hugged him.

"I didn't want to believe this. I didn't want to see them like this. I didn't want to see it be true. I was hoping Olli was just playing a dirty trick and that was it.

Sheldon awkwardly returned the hug, and patted my back slightly.

"I know this is hard...uh...before we go...Annie asked me to give this to you" Sheldon handed me an envelope covered in pink glitter.

I opened the envelope and inside was a card, written in broken inkling language.

Y/N

I hopest dearly you will do the goods and get Callie and Marie back. I am believe in you and do it you can! You will make me proud!

Most sincerely, Anastasia.

I sniffles and hugged the note close to my chest. The little jellyfish kid who I met a while ago, was so kind as to think of me.

Sheldon smiled and let go of my back.

"It's time to go" he said. I nodded and whispered to Iris.

"We're on our way"

I folded my kimono and set it on the bench, and swapped out my hairpieces. I slipped off the sandals and pulled on my black and jet green boots. Not gonna lie, it felt good to wear this again.

Sheldon walked me across the bridge and towards the back half of Tentakeel Outpost, where a cemi truck was parked.

"I haven't seen this thing in forever. Are you sure it can still fly?" I asked Sheldon.

"It took me a while, but I did some tune ups, and she's working just fine" He said and proudly patted the side of the cemi.

"Thanks for taking some time off from weaponry to help me. I really do appreciate it, Shel" I said, and smiled faintly. He grinned brightly and shrugged.

"No big deal, Marie! I'm happy to help, plus, if anyone had the chance to help out the Squid Sisters brother, I think they'd take it" he chuckled and opened the front seat door.

"Unfortunately half the square hasn't even heard that I'm the brother of the squid sisters" I joked, and began climbing a ladder that was attached on the back of the cemi.

"For eel?!" Sheldon said bewildered.

"Exactly what I said!" I replied, and sat down on the truck, weapons a-go.

"Squids these days. So uncultured" Sheldon scoffed and closed the door of the truck. He turned a key, and bright green, blue and pink sparks flew from each exhaust pipe. A static jingle that resembled our iconic song City of Color tang from the truck's engine as we kicked off the ground.

"Hold on tight back there! There are no seatbelts!" Sheldon exclaimed. I didn't hesitate to move to the back area of the truck and firmly grasp one of the black metal bars that was securing sound equipment.

The tires on the truck rotated and turned outwards, instead of their normal facing direction. They puffed green rings of light and power, pushing the heavy vehicle off the ground.

This wasn't the first time I had ridden in the flying truck, but I'm normally in the drivers or passengers seat. This was very dangerous. Squids, do not try this at home.

When we were finally airborne, and safely off the ground, I released the black metal slowly, and crouched down.

For the first time since I left the apartment, I took time to truly admire the view.

Rolling hills and waterfalls and Rocky Mountains and rushing rivers, so much beautiful scenery it's a shame the octarians sit around and let it waste away.

The sun had almost set. The sky was a brilliant shade of pink and orange, with clouds lightly peppering here and there. A cool breeze flowed and left my face chilled. Sheldon drove swiftly, but not hastily.

My heart dropped as I could see the dreaded and nightmarish Cephalon HQ. The sunset faded into oily sky, the mountains were no longer slim and beige, but jagged and cold black. The clear waters of rivers flowed into sticky pools of murky purple ink.

This was the part of Octo Canyon that made you want to escape. It was horrendous to look at, and I'm sure not even the octolings were proud of it. I know I wouldn't be.

I felt guilty for Callie and Marie, that they had to be spending time here. Such a beautiful place with awful, corrupted Backstories.

"Y/N. Get ready. We're here" Sheldon said. I nodded nervously, and stood up. I lightheadedly stood up, and charged up my lasers. I suddenly took in the realization that I only have one shot at this. My ammo is limited, and Octavio could put that shield back up at any moment.

Hopefully a giant floating truck is enough distraction to keep the shields down long enough.

Sheldon lowered the truck into the crater where the boss kettle had been opened. I took my final breath of fresh air and exhaled as we descended into the darkness.

My heart stabbed at the echo of Callie's and Marie's voices singing starting to become more prominent. Bright Pink, lime green, purple and blue neon lights were flashing, down the narrow tunnel. I almost was blinded by the light and sound, but luckily, the tunnel ended and the cavern of where the giant robot's platform lay.

This was all underneath Octavio's castle. This huge arena with enormous flatscreen TVs, bleachers as far as the eye could see, and Zapfish knows what below the sandy battlefield. A fall from that height would certainly lead to death.

I waited for Iris to finish splatting Octavio. He finally gave up and made his jump back into the machine.

It was time.

I wasn't ready.

I didn't want to.

"Y/N! Radio Override Activated!" Sheldon called, and he was right. The terribly remixed Bomb Rush Blush screeched to an end and a new song begun as I jumped off the cemi, transformed into a giant version of myself, took out my light blade and sliced right through one of the TV's.

"Agent Four! I'm here!" I shouted. A bewildered look on Octavio's face signified he was perfectly distracted.

I raised up my shoulder-mounted lasers and aimed at Callie's and Marie's faces. Dear god Olli, your plan better be worth it.

I let a single tear fall as I fired the lasers, hitting my sisters square in the face.
