Chapter 1
It was a cold morning. I gazed out the window at the snow covered landscape outside. The sun peeked over the cityscape and reflected off of the white view. My eyes drifted to the alarm clock beside my bed. 8:37. I was so glad it was Saturday, I didn't have to work today.
I turned to my side and pulled my phone off of the charger to check my social media. I saw the usual "inspirational" quotes - which I usually scrolled past - and gorgeous beach pictures in Aruba.
My eyes got wide as I looked at the bright scree. The silvery haired skater, Victor Nikiforav looked back at me with a cheerful smile while sitting in an airplane seat. My pupils grew even larger as I read the comment underneath. I kept rereading it over and over again, to make sure my mind wasnt playing tricks.
Victor Nikiforav: On my way to Japan!! ;)
I stood up frantically from my blur bed sheets. I had to go tell Yuko...cautiously. She'd probably freak out too.
Yuko and I were rink mates when we were little, and she was the one who "introduced" me to Victor. After that I was completely obsessed. I even got a poodle just like the Russian skater's and named him Viccan.
Almost on cue, Viccan ran up to me and hopped onto my leg as I half sprinted out the door. He almost knocked me over, and I wobbled back and forth before regaining my balance.
"Woah! Viccan calm down!" He must've sensed I was also excited because he didn't listen to my demands. I bent over and ruffled his poofy head.
"Guess what Viccan! Victor Nikiforav is coming here to Japan!" I squealed. "Im going to the rink to tell Yuko, but you can come. Wanna go for a walk!" Viccan barked and wagged his tail.
We walked down the hall and to the front door. I put on my coat and boots, and clipped on Viccan's gold leash. I opened the door and Viccan sprinted through the doorway, playfully prancing in the soft fluffy snow.
"Hurry Viccan! We gotta go tell Yuko!"
I jogged all the way to the ice rink, with Viccan trotting by my side. I ran up the stone steps and busted through the double doors.
"Yuko! Yuko!" I yelled, still clutching Viccan's leash.
"Yuri!" Yuko stepped out from behind the front counter to hug me.
"Yuko! Did you see what Victor Nikiforav posted online?" I was too excited to keep my voice down.
"No! What, why?"
"Victor's coming to Japan!"
"Eeeee!" She squealed and jumped up and down in circles. "No way!! Yuri we have to meet him!"
I paused and looked at the ground. How could I let Victor see me after my last competition. I ended up completely bombing my routine, and toward the ending I fell during a triple lutz and completely tore my ACL. It was do bad I had to get rushed to the hospital. As I was being put into an ambulance, I saw Victor's eyes staring at me. He probably thought I was pitiful and all-around a terrible skater. I got an MRI, and eventually had to get surgery. But my leg would never completely be the same, and there was a large chance that if i kept skating, my ACL would tear again. So, I quit.
If Victor remembered me, I'd be embarrassed, and I don't want him to remember the skater who ended his messy routine by bawling like a toddler.
After a long pause, I looked at Yuko. "I cant go see Victor, what if he sees me," I admitted.
Yuko sighed, and Viccan whimpered. "Yuri, he's your idol! Who cares what happened at that competition. You still love skating, dont you?"
"Yeah," I sighed.
"Then, you and I are going to meet Victor Nikiforav when he comes to Japan!" Viccan barked at her. "Yes Viccan, you can come too!" She giggled.
"Hey, Yuko," I said. She looked away from Viccan and back to me. "Do you think I can skate for a little?"
Yuko gasped and her eyes lit up. "Of course!" She jumped and hugged me.
I did still love skating, and I was going to meet Victor Nikiforav!... I hope.
I'm so excited to be writing a Victuri fanfic and this is like my third version of the story.
My friend just recently tore his ACL and thats where I got the idea from. In my notebook this was like 5 pages, so I thought it was gonna be really long but it actually cane out kinda short which is kinda a disappointment. But thats okay!
