Chapter 3
@.@ Your POV @.@
So, it turns out that me, Ema and Yusuke all go to the same school. Iori went to another school somewhere else, and apparently he's really popular and smart. I envy him.
Me, Ema and Yusuke began to walk to school, in a row with me in the middle. I'd never been to this school before, so I was hoping that I wouldn't get lost. We soon arrived at a train station.
"We have to catch a train to school? It's that far?" I asked as Ema handed me a train card for me to use from now on, and she and Yusuke nodded. We found our platform and boarded the train.
The train was very crowded, so it ended up with Ema being pushed into my back, and therefore me being pushed into Yusuke's chest. He looked away towards the window as he held onto a handle to steady himself.
After a while, the vehicle halted suddenly at our stop, and sent Ema into me. I lost my balance and fell even further into Yusuke. He blushed as he caught me, and I clung onto his shirt. After regaining my balance, I stood up straight and apologised, before we got off the train.
We walked the rest of the way, and I apologised a few more times. I didn't want him to be angry at me. He told me not to worry about it, so I stopped.
Ema took me to the principal's office when Yusuke went off somewhere, so that I could find out which class I was in. I fiddled with a lock of my (h/c) hair as I knocked on the door.
The principal wasn't as scary as I imagined, and very kindly told me which class I was in, and gave me a small map outlining the school. I thanked her, and saw that I was in Ema's class. She took me to our classroom, and showed me to the only free desk in the room. It was a little behind from hers, but I could still see her desk.
Soon, the class began filing in, and everyone took their seats. Yusuke was also in our class, and he actually sat next to me. I smiled at him when he walked in, and he kinda awkwardly nodded, and sat down.
The teacher walked in a minute later, and after glancing around, made eye contact with me. She smiled, and began talking to the class.
"As you may be aware, we have a new student in the class today. Everyone, please welcome (Y/N) Hasegawa to our school." Multiple heads turned round and a number of faces smiled at me. Blushing and smiling back, I stood up and walked over to the front of the room.
"Hello everyone. My name is (Y/N), and I hope I get to know all of you well." I smiled and went back to my seat, still blushing due to attention. The hustle and bustle soon died down however, and the class returned to normal.
Trying hard as I could to concentrate, I watched the teacher scribble things I didn't understand on the board. I wasn't a natural genius and my grades weren't the best as it was, but I was never one to give up and I was constantly attempting to do well. Hopefully my home will have less stress so I can concentrate more.
Halfway through the lesson, I was looking around until I caught gazes with Yuusuke. Smiling at him, I waved subtly. He rolled his eyes and instantly turned away. Oh well, I'm trying, I guess.
The rest of the day went by smoothly, and before I knew it, me and my siblings were making our way back towards the train station. We boarded the train which was less crowded how that it was later, and soon enough we were outside the house. Upon entering the home I took off my shoes and headed to the kitchen. Ukyo happened to be there, making a start on dinner.
"Hello Ukyo-nii." He turned round and smiled at me.
"Hey (Y/N)-chan. How was school?" He asked me.
"It was good thanks. Would you like any help with dinner?"
"That would be great. I'm almost done though, so would you like to lay the table?" Nodding, I went over to the cutlery drawer and pulled out a handful of knives and forks.
"How many will we need?" Ukyo thought for a while. My phone began ringing.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Hey, (Y/N)? It's me, Iori. I'm afraid I got caught up at a study session and I won't be home for dinner today. Please tell Ukyo. Thanks, goodbye."
"Bye." I smiled and hung up the phone. "Iori-san won't be with us for dinner tonight." I explained. Ukyo nodded. My phone began to ring again.
"Hello? Hey (Y/N), it's me, Masaomi. I'm not going to be home for dinner tonight as I have a patient who needs me with them tonight. Please take care of everyone."
"I will!" I hung up and smiled at Ukyo again. "Umm... Masaomi won't be joining us either I'm afraid, as he has a patient." In Ukyo's eyes, I saw a glint of sadness. I walked up to him and placed my hand gently on his arm.
"Ukyo-nii? What's the matter?" He looked down at me.
"Oh, it's nothing, just these phone calls used to come to me, then Ema, and now you. Why?" He looked down again at the food on the chopping board. "Does no one think they can talk to me."
"Oh, Ukyo-nii, I'm sure it's not that way. You've done so much more for everyone in this family than I ever could, not to mention you're their brother. They probably feel like as you're always trying to mother us, as well as maintaining your job that you would like a break, and that now there's more of us, they can tell me and Ema to take a worry off of your heavy shoulders." I smiled and rubbed his arm soothingly. His expression slowly changed from doubt to realisation.
"Thanks (Y/N)-Chan." He smiled down at me and ruffled my hair.
"No worries. I'll go set the table!" I cried, and scurried away to the dining room.
