So it was Daisy's first day of the new term, which wasn't the easiest to get her ready for, as she was not! in the mood to go to school that day, (I don't blame her though if I'm being completely honest with you here), so I was obviously trying to convince her otherwise, (for both of our sakes, whether she liked that part or not).

"Daisy Baby, are you ready to go to school?"
"No, I don't want to go Daddy"
"(Sighs), I know that you don't want to go to school today Baby, but you have to go to school Darling"
"Why?"
"Because it's the law"
"Yeah but why is it the law?"
"Because you need to learn about things"
"You can teach me Daddy"
"I can't do that Darling"
"But Daddy, you're a teacher"

She did have me there, (like she really did have me), but I didn't want her to know that, (as that meant that she use that to not go to school), because then it would make it 10x harder for me to get her to go to school, and she really needed to go to school, (as I did not need a fucking lecture from Daisy's school, like their fucking preachy as shit).

"I am a teacher Darling, you're right about that, but you need to learn about every subject while your a child Honey, I just teach English"
"Ok then, (sighs), can you help me put on my polo shirt please Daddy, I'm stuck"
"I can do that for you Baby"
"Thank you Daddy"
"You're welcome Baby"

So it seemed like I had solved most of the problem here, (I say 'most of' because Daisy still didn't really like school), so then Daisy was actually ready for school, (even if she didn't want to be), so we left home and went to school, as you do, the beginning bit of our walk was like any other school day, so there's not much for me to tell you about here.

So anyway, we were walking to Daisy's school, as you do when you a school age child, (and you live in London where the traffic is so fucked), it was a bit nippy outside but it wasn't too bad considering it was the winter time, (I mean we still had our coats on).

"Daddy"
"Yeah Baby"
"What happens when we die?"

Yeah that did throw me for a loop if I'm being completely honest with you here, (as I guess that I wasn't ready for a 5 year old to ask me that kind of question here, ok), not that I wanted Daisy to know that, so I just tried to answer her questions, even if I didn't really answer them, (as I'm not great at religion in general).

"Well, nobody really knows what happens after we die Darling"
"Then where did the idea of heaven even come from then?"
"Well it came from the bible"
"So where did the bible come from?"
"People who claim that they heard it from God, but we'll never really know if that's true or not"
"Oh"

Before anyone asks me why I didn't tell her that there definitely was a God, (as I can just feel some religious people ready to ask me that), I wasn't going to lie to her about that, (especially considering that I wasn't religious in any way, shape or form), but there's no actual evidence to support the theory that there is a God, ya know, (all we have are theories about what happens after we die).

"Daddy"
"Yeah Baby"
"How come we don't know when we're going to die?"

If I thought that the 'what happens when we die' question threw me for a loop, then this question threw me off a fucking cliff, though it was a logical question after the 'what happens when we die' question, I was quite sleep deprived at this point, so if I'm being honest here that could have actually influenced how I had answered up to this point, which I do admit probably unintentionally influenced what Daisy had just asked me, (but I can't confirm that as it's was an observation that I made after the fact).

"Uh, I don't know why that Baby, but I think it helps us to live life a bit more"
"I guess so, is it scary not knowing?"
"Uh, it can be scary Sweetheart, but there's not much else we can do other than not living life"
"Hmm, ok, I believe you, as you have a lot of years on me"
"I wouldn't say that 'it was lots of years' Little Miss"
"Yeah well it's still takes a while to count the amount Daddy"
"Are you calling me old?"
"No I'm not calling you old, I'm just saying the truth"
"Ok Baby"
