Chapter 3

When Natsuki got home, she started on her poem first. She was told by Yuri that she should write out her feelings about Sayori.

"Well Yuri it would surely help if I knew what I was feeling so I know what I'm trying to write huh?!"

Natsuki sat on her bed with her notebook paper on a hard surface (that could be a binder or folder, nothing else) on her lap with a pen in hand. She didn't know how to give the notion.

After thirty minutes of sitting down thinking, Natsuki wrote down all the possible emotions that thought she was feeling.

Lust
Happiness
Love
Anger
Frustration
Joy

"Short... But it's what I think I'm feeling. Of course it's hard to recognize, and I'm sure I have more emotions that would make this list taller than the tallest man alive!"

Natsuki looked over the list one last time before deciding to start her poem. She disliked some of her writings, but she kept her favorites and evaluated which of her favorites was the best. After choosing her final poem, she started her other homework.

"Now that everything's done, I have time to read manga!"

Relieved that her work for the night was done, Natsuki pulled out her manga and read until she knew she had to get to bed. To remember to bring her poem, she used it as a book mark for her manga and planned to write another poem for the actual literature club the next day in her first class.

Natsuki decided to walk to school with Sayori, but only to get a better feel of her emotions. It wasn't certain she liked Sayori, no matter how much he body said she did.

"You okay Natsuki? You've been acting a bit strange..." Sayori asked when they got onto school grounds. "Oh umm, nah I'm all good. I mean c'mon, how can I not be okay?!" Natsuki put on the biggest grin she could and pumped a fist into the air. This made Sayori giggle. "Hah see? I can make even YOU happy Sayori! You must need me around more, I'm just so good at making people happy without trying." Natsuki boasted. "Not quite yet Nat, you gotta take lessons on how to cheer up other first.." Sayori finished, parting ways with Natsuki.

"Lessons? What is she a therapist? Either way I made her laugh, and I'd listen to it all day."

It didn't dawn Natsuki till she went to her daily water fountain visit that Sayori gave her a nickname.

"She... She called me Nat!"

Natsuki almost spit her water out onto another kid, but directed her aim twords the wall. Either way, she spit water.

"Aww it's adorable! Only Sayori can say it though, it sounds better when she does it."

That was all that went through her head during her first class. That Sayori had called her a nickname, and it happened when Natsuki had tried to drop hints.

"Oh Monika it was HEAVEN!" Natsuki finished explaining her walk to school with Sayori to Monika. "Well hey for one calm down about it! Somebody will overhear..." Monika instructed. "It doesn't help that you already know and paired me with her for the festavil huh Monika?" Natsuki snapped back.

"Uh... Yeah true but it's meant to be," Monika smiled. "and Yuri told me you were told to write a poem about your feelings--." Natsuki cut off Monika.

"OH YEAH! I still need to write a second one for club, but about what... OH I know! About Sayori calling me Nat! Oh this is perfect Monika, just perfect!" Natsuki cheered and jumped out of her seat.

"Slow down Nat, you're lucky class doesn't start till.." Monika looked over the at the clock, and then the bell rang. "Now. So keep it down low and write your second poem." Monika finished.

As much as Natsuki wanted to burst out yelling about how Monika called her Nat, Natsuki kept herself calm for the meantime and worked on her other poem the majority of class.

Natsuki knew Sayori was in the library for recess today, so she read her manga and checked over her poems.

"Man, both of these are good! Sadly only Sayori gets to see one of them..."

Natsuki folded the poems and used them as a bookmark for her manga once again and day dreamed.

"I don't even know if she likes me, yet here I am preparing a wedding proposal basically. Even I don't know if I like her!"

Then it occurred to Natsuki. She didn't even know if she liked Sayori, and that was the whole point of writing two poems and doing the extra work.

Natsuki got up from her spot and started on her hunt for Monika and Yuri. She knew the both of them would be together at recess, Yuri didn't have any friend anyway.

After searching for about 10 minutes, Natsuki finally found both girls sitting on a bench in the shade. Yuri was... Well...

"Shhh, don't wake Yuri yet... Now what do you want?" Monika held a finger to Natsuki's lips to shush her and spoke in a whisper.

"I don't even want to know what's wrong with Yuri at this point, enough is wrong already."

"Okay so... You made me write two poems but I'm not doing extra work for nothing, so here's the one I wrote about liking Sayori." Natsuki fumbled to unfold the poem, and after her struggle eventually handed it to Monika.

While Monika read it, Natsuki couldn't take her eyes off the sleeping Yuri in Monika's lap. It was very unusual for Yuri, of everyone in the school, to fall asleep. Especially at recess.

"In club I want you to show it to Yuri, but I think you like her for sure." Monika whispered, handing back the poem.

Natsuki gave a nod of her head and went back to her spot to continue reading manga.

As the day came closer and closer to an end, club time arrived sooner and sooner until it was time Natsuki met up with Sayori at her last class to walk with her to the literature club.

"Been a while since you walked with me last... Did I do something wrong last time?" Sayori asked when they started their walk. "Of course not Sayori! You've never done anything wrong, and that's not sarcasm." Natsuki practically shouted her reply, and she regretted it afterwards.

"Okay, well to club we go!" Sayori skipped ahead of Natsuki. "Hey! Wait up!" Natsuki started to run and catch up to Sayori. Once she caught up to Sayori, she tripped on her own feet and fell to the ground.

"Stupid Natsuki! Of all times to--."

Looking down, Natsuki realized that she landed on top of Sayori. Her position made it look as if she was pinning Sayori to the ground.

Face a heated red, Natsuki quickly stood up.

"You okay Natsuki?" Sayori walked over to Natsuki's side. "Uuu.. Er.. Yes! Of course I'm alright! My bigger concern would be you..." Natsuki grumbled. "Oh Nat... Well we'll be late to club if we don't hurry!" Sayori started jogging, and Natsuki started to jog as well.

This time Natsuki didn't trip.

Once they got to club, Sayori had excused herself from Natsuki to finish homework. Natsuki took this opportunity to show Yuri her emotion poem.

"This... I think you like her.." Yuri handed the poem back to Natsuki.

"Maybe you would know because you like Monika I bet, and she risks her life tolerating you..."

"Yeah okay I get it!" Natsuki scolded. "I like her, okay got the memo. Now what?" Natsuki stomped over to her bag and placed the emotion poem inside her manga as a bookmark.

"Everything okay Nat?" Natsuki could hear the subtle concern in Sayori's tone.

"Why call me that infront of Yuri..."

"Everything's fine! Now where is Monika?" Natsuki looked around. She hadn't noticed that Monika wasn't here before.

"She went to practice piano again, she should be here soon." Yuri replied. "Until then, we can wait for her--." Yuri was cut off by Monika practically kicking down the door and spamming it closed.

"Someone feels violent today huh?"

"Sorry I'm late! I rushed here as fast as I could, now let's get to sharing shall we?" Monika panted out, grabbing a folded piece of paper from a pocket of her backpack.

Natsuki was searching through her bag for her poem when Sayori walked over.

"Hey Natsuki, can we share poems?" Sayori asked.

Natsuki panicked while searching for her poem. Out of rush, she grabbed the poem out of her manga and handed it to Sayori. "There ya go, prefection at it's best." Natsuki boasted, getting a small smile from Sayori when she received the her poem.

Club soon came to an end, so Sayori and Natsuki began their walk to Sayori's house for the festival plans.
