Fifth year. What a stupid time to start an academic life, what was her Mother thinking? Honestly, Nova would have rather much preferred being locked in a library for a year rather than attend Hogwarts. She didn't understand why in the world her Mother would insist on her going to a school that taught witchcraft when in some sense, she wasn't even a witch!
There was no winning with her Mother though, so instead, Nova begrudgingly boarded the scarlet train, famously known among wizards and witches of all ages as the 'Hogwarts Express'. She walked along the steam trains corridor with her trunk in tow, dodging gossiping students who crowded around as she simply tried to look for an empty compartment. At last, Nova found one.
Sliding the door open, she ambled inside and put her trunk on the rack up top before collapsing tiredly onto the seat. Nova propped her feet up on the opposite seat, brushing her hair our her eyes and looking out the window as the steamer pulled out from the platform with a shrill whistle.
A sigh left her lips as she picked up the book which she had took out from her trunk, quickly immersing herself into the words on the page and blocking out the world around her as she entered a new one. Well, her escape didn't last that long as the compartment door slid open and four boisterous lads made an appearance.
Nova kept her gaze on her book, an irritated look on her face as they all silenced upon spotting her frame in the furthest corner of the compartment.
"You lost Doll? Clearly you must know that this compartment is ours?" A boy with stunning grey eyes and curly black haired seemed to almost purr.
Nova didn't even react, let alone reply. Her face kept motionless as she carried on reading from where she left off. The boy who had spoken to her though didn't seem to appreciate her ignorance however as he pushed her legs down from the opposite seat and sat down, staring harshly in her direction.
"Hey! Did you even hear what he said?" A boy with wild black hair, deep brown eyes and glasses called out, sitting by his curly haired friend.
Nova still didn't raise her head and acknowledge their presence, instead she stiffly nodded the once which seemed to suffice as some sort of reaction or reply.
"Wait a minute, you're the new fifth year aren't you?" The tall, golden haired, sandy eye coloured boy questioned who got another nod in reply. "I got told about you from the other prefects..."
"Well, that's lovely and all Moony but she's still in our compartment" the curly haired boy whined once more, glaring towards Nova who still hadn't looked up but hadn't turned her page either.
"I don't see your name on it" Nova finally spoke, drawing her legs up to her chest and keeping her gaze down on her knees.
"Well your name ain't on it either!" The boy with glasses protested and finally Nova looked up, not noticing the way the four boys lost their breathes as they stared into her eyes that seemed to be like ice. Truly breathtaking.
"It'll be written in your blood in a minute" she growled, dropping her legs down as the other two finally sat.
The smallest of them sitting next to glasses who sat next to curly and tallest was brave enough to take the seat next to Nova. Her book had long since been forgotten as it dropped onto the seat by her side, her ice blue eyes holding an intense staring match with grey eyes.
Meanwhile, Nova carelessly managed to bunch her white hair into her hand and wrap it into a lazy bun, keeping it atop of her head and out of her line of vision.
"So, uhh..." glasses didn't get the chance to properly speak as the compartment door slid open to reveal a red headed girl with vibrant green eyes.
"Lilykins!"
She just rolled her eyes.
"You must be the transfer right? Nova? I'm Lily Evans, Prefect of Gryffindor. I see you have already met Remus who is also a prefect. If you get into Gryffindor, don't be shy to ask us for help. Or even if you don't get in Gryffindor, we're all friends here." Lily grinned to which Nova just nodded.
"Well, I best had go. It was lovely meeting you though!"
The door slid closed, and all four of the lads attention went to her. She however, just simply opened her book once more, drawing her knees to her chest once more and immersing herself into the fictional word. There was no interaction between her and the four after that.
Not until the students finally piled into the Castle.
