Chapter 20- Erin

A/N: Hey guys! So the first part of this chapter is going to be a little jumpy and isn't going to flow very well (sorry, my bad!). I just needed to set everything up but I couldn't find a great way of doing it. Hopefully the second half is better. This is going to be quite a long chapter so bear with me... ok, here we go...

"Woah, guys, slow down!" Harry shouted, running to keep up with me as I stormed across the tarmac with Austin at my side. "You can't be out here without the General's permission!"

"Well he can just stick that order where the sun doesn't shine," I growled. I was extremely angry. The General, after everything we had just discussed, said he wanted to keep Austin and I back and let his men take out T11 and capture Josh.

"She was actually going to say something a lot ruder," Austin said although he was rubbing his throat. I could tell it was still bothering him. With all the horrible things that had happened to me and Josh, I couldn't imagine having a wire yanked out of my mouth.

"You can't just fly off!" Harry said, running in front of us. "Erin, I'm putting my foot down on this one, young lady." It took everything in me not to laugh at the way he stamped his foot to emphasise his point.

"Harry, this is Josh," I said. "I'm not just leaving him!"

"The General told you to stay here," Harry said. "He can't trust that you and Austin can work together." As one, Austin and I picked him up using telekinesis. "Woah! Hey, put me down! This is not fair!" We put him down but not as gently as we could have.

"Listen, Harry," I said. "He may be your general but he isn't mine. I don't have to follow his orders."

"You don't even know how to fly a plane!" he cried.

"I do," a voice said from behind. Austin and I whipped around to face Charlie, standing awkwardly behind us.

"Coming with us to kill us off, are you?" I said coldly.

"I'm coming to help you, Erin," Charlie said. "I never agreed with the General. Please, just trust me like you did before."

"We do need someone to fly the plane," Austin said slowly. I made a frustrated noise.

"Fine," I said. By this time all the pilots had got to their jets and were rolling down the runway. There was one carrier plane waiting behind them that looked like it was going to stay behind. I strode over towards it, everyone else trotting at my heels. "You better be able to fly this hunk of metal, Charlie," I said.

"Be nice to the plane, Erin," Harry muttered. Everyone gave him a look as he went bright red. "What?"

Charlie shook his head and headed to the cockpit. Everyone sat and put on the headphones as Charlie fired the plane up, pressing numerous buttons.

"Agent Hunt!" The radio crackled with the General's voice. "I know it's you in that plane. Power down now. You do not have permission to fly."

"Sorry, sir," Charlie said. "But Erin's our best chance. If we die...Well, it's really your own stupid fault." He switched off the radio before the General could reply. He guided the plane down the runway and we took off, my stomach lurching.

"All right then guys," Charlie said a little while later and setting the autopilot. "When we get to the coast, it's going to get rough. No doubt Josh will send a hurricane at us so we're going to have to jump with parachutes."

"You're kidding, right?" Austin asked, turning pale.

"I wish I was," Charlie muttered, pulling four chutes down and handing them out.

"We can't just jump out of the plane!" Austin said. "It will crash as soon as it runs out of fuel."

"It'll crash in the ocean and we'll be long gone by then. We're going to have to," Charlie said grimly, strapping on my parachute then moving onto Harry. "We can't fly straight into the warzone. That's what the general and those pilots don't understand. Josh will wipe them out before they open fire."

"How do we stop them from flying in?" Harry asked. "We have to give them some sort of warning." Charlie shook his head.

"I've jammed their radio signals but that won't keep them back for long," he said. He turned to me. "So you have to get to Josh before they fly in."

"Just get me close enough," I said. After Charlie fitted Austin's and his own parachute, we flew straight towards the coast for half an hour. Everyone sat quietly, not saying a word. We all knew what was coming and it wasn't going to be easy.

Harry sat tapping his knees, his eyes shifting around. I knew what he was thinking. Up against the likes of T11, Harry didn't think he had a chance of surviving this. To be honest, I don't think I have a chance of surviving this, and I had powers to help me out. We all knew this was a suicide mission. I felt guilty for making them do this.

Suddenly the whole plane started shaking as the turbulence hit. "All right, guys!" Charlie shouted. "This is it! Get ready to jump!" Austin went even paler than he had been as he shakily stood himself up. I followed as Charlie opened the door to the plane.

"As soon as you jump," Charlie shouted, "Count to three then deploy the chute!"

"I hated this in basic training," Harry muttered before launching himself out of the plane. Austin and I watched in shock as he fell for what seemed like miles before his parachute blossomed.

"Your turn, Austin," Charlie said. Austin edged towards the edge of the door. He was shaking all over. "I can't do-" he started to say before Charlie pushed him. He screamed, tumbling in the sky. I was afraid his parachute wouldn't deploy but, to my relief, I saw it open up a few seconds later.

"You wanted to do that, didn't you?" I said to Charlie. He shrugged like it was no big deal he had just pushed someone out of a plane.

"Ready?" he asked me.

"Don't you dare push me," I told him.

Then I leapt into the sky.

For a moment, I just felt pure and utter fear but then I remembered I was wearing a parachute. I pulled on the string and was jerked upwards, floating through the sky effortlessly. From up here, I could see the devastation T11 had imposed on the city. In the middle was a huge wave just hovering in one place. More terrifying was the other waves being launch out from it, rampaging over land and sea. So the Master's plan was to use this as the centre and send out the tsunamis to the rest of the world. We had even less time than I thought.

A few minutes later, I landed (if you could call collapsing into a heap landing) and was met by Harry and Austin outside of the city. I could see Charlie floating down about one hundred metres away.

"Are we ready?" Charlie asked once the parachutes were hidden.

"Guys," I said. "Can I just say that I'm sorry for making you do this. I'm not going to lie, I don't think we have a chance of surving this but if we do, you guys are the best friends I've ever had." The boys nodded but didn't say anything. Harry and Charlie pulled out their guns, looking grim but ready. Austin closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

"Let's go and kick some ass," I said.

***
We carefully picked out way through the rubbish and rubble that Josh's first tsunami had left. The water had receeded back to the centre of the city where Josh would be sending out the deadly waves all over the world. The sky was black and dark, rain pouring down in sheets. We were soaked within seconds. The streets were completely abandoned. There wasn't even any bodies, probably washed away. We arrived at the centre but Austin and I stopped in our tracks.

Standing in a row in front of the massive wave Josh was hovering over were four teenagers, two of which looked so mutilated that I wondered how they were even alive. The other boy's skin was half metal and half flesh and then there was the red eyed girl, Adela, Austin's former partner.

"You shouldn't have come back, Austin," the boy said. "The Master was going to spare and forgive you. Now, we'll just have to kill you instead."

"You know the Master is crazy, Kieran," Austin said. "We don't have to fight anymore. Just stop this madness." Kieran just sneered at him.

'Hello Erin,' Adela said, smiling wickedly. 'I see you've stolen my pathetic excuse for a partner. Well, it doesn't matter. Josh is mine now and you'll be dead soon.'

"Erm...hi guys," Harry said. "I know me and Charlie don't have powers or anything but it would be great if you paid us some attention."

"Okay, who are you?" Kieran asked, obviously very confused.

"Oh, I'm Harry," Harry said. "And I've brought along a surprise." BLAM! Harry shot Kieran in the chest. Kieran toppled backwards but unfortunately Harry hit him on a piece of metal.

"Okay, that's it," Kieran growled, jumping back to his feet. "Come here you pipsqueak." Harry legged it down a side street with Kieran running after him.

"Go!" Harry yelled at us. I realised Harry had drawn away the only one of T11 that really had powers they could use to fight us. The Twins weren't strong enough on their own and Adela had lost her powers because she didn't have Austin.

Austin and I ran for the wave Josh was hovering on as Charlie dived at Adela, knocking her to the floor. The mutilated twins stood still but already I could feel their weak telekinesis pulling on my back.

"We have to get to Josh!" Austin yelled at me as we stood at the base of the massive wave.

"But how do we get up there?" I cried, looking around for anything that might help.

"I'll help lift you!" Austin shouted. "Just get onto the crest and climb the rest of the way to him!" I nodded and used all the telekinesis I had to push myself up the wave. Austin helped me by giving me extra strength. I was halfway up when the problems started.

Suddenly, I felt Austin's strength leave me and I tumbled back down. Adela had somehow detangled from her fight with Charlie and took out Austin, leaving me powerless. She let out a deranged cry, trying to pound Austin who was struggling to move under the Twin's ever increasing telekinesis. Charlie had his gun out, trying to get a clear shot but Adela kept moving.

'You need Austin to get to Josh,' she hissed. 'But what if he's dead?' She pulled out a knife from her belt and placed it against Austin's throat.

"What makes you think I give a damn about Austin," Charlie growled, pointing the gun at both of them.

"No, Charlie!" I said. "We need him. I need him."

'The Master said he no longer cared for you, Erin. He said to get you out of the way,' Adela said, slowly backing away with Austin in tow. The Twins had come up behind Charlie who was now conflicted over who to aim the gun at.

'But I don't want to do what he says this time' Adela said. 'I want to make you suffer.'  Just at that moment, the Twins fired a blast at Charlie who went spinning into a nearby brick wall, crumpling under it. Kieran came back dragging Harry by the neck who was bloodied and bruised, barely alive. Kieran dropped him like a stone and placed his foot over Harry's throat.

All three of my friends were trapped and about to die.

"Did you really think you could win this, Erin?" came a voice.

A voice I knew and feared.

I looked up and saw the Master descending from the wave with Josh by his side. Josh was supporting the both of them using telekinesis. "I have you cornered once again. Now, tell Austin to stop fighting Lucy so Josh can finish off what he started," the Master said.

I looked at Austin who shook his head as much as he could. Charlie was struggling to rise against the force of the Twins' telekinesis but also shook his head. Harry was barely conscious but even he made an effort to groan.

I made my decision.

"I'm never going to be your weapon again," I said to the Master. "Do what you want to us. I'm not doing what you want."

"You were always a disappointment, Erin," the Master said. "That's why I had you shot and chose Josh. But, as you wish." He signalled and took a step back.

Josh stepped towards me, his eyes hard and cold. "Josh," I said to him. "Josh, it's me. You're better than this. This isn't you. Don't do what Lucy and the Master want. Fight her!"

"Your Josh is gone," Josh said.

"No he's not," I whispered. "I know you're in there. Please, don't do this."

"I'm going to enjoy this," he said. He swung his fist and decked me. I fell to the floor but struggled up again, diving out of the way as he made to kick me. I rolled and jumped to my feet again.

"Erin run!" Charlie shouted at me.

"Josh!" I yelled. "Come on, snap out of it!" I dodged another punch but didn't see the kick coming. His spinning crescent kick cracked against my skull. This time I fell but couldn't get up. Josh smashed an elbow into my ribs, making me gag and choke then kicked me in the stomach. The Master came up behind him.

"Excellent work, Josh," he said. "Adela, would you please convince Austin to stop fighting Lucy." Adela flipped Austin over so he landed on his back. She held the knife over his heart.

'I am so not sorry about this,' she said before a gunshot cracked through the air, hitting her in the shoulder. World United soldiers came charging into battle out of nowhere.

All hell broke loose.
