Chapter 10- Josh

"Erin!" I screamed at the T.V. screen, yanking on the handcuffs that were restraining me. I'd been awake for a good half hour now and my wrists were cut and rubbed raw. Telepathy didn't work so I resulted to screaming. "Come out, Hunt!" I shouted. "Stop being a coward and leave her alone!" There was no answer. Well at least he didn't give me an electric shock.

I know Harry betrayed us but his words kept running through my head.

'If it's true what you say and Triple can kill you at anytime, I wouldn't waste a minute with her because every minute could be your last together.'

I had to get us out of here. I had to find Erin and kill Hunt before he hurt her again.

As if by magic, the door on the opposite side of the room and he came in. I gave him a death glare as he walked across the room to a wooden chair. He was tall and skinny with brown hair and eyes. His eyes looked sharp and precise as they studied me.

"Gee," he said. "No need to stare at me like that. I'm not going to kill you and I haven't hurt the girl."

"Liar," I said. "I saw you. You slapped her then electrocuted me which, by the way, hurt her too so if you think you're so smart, you might want to do your homework on us like a good little boy."

"I have to admit, you are definitely a whole lot nastier than Erin," Hunt laughed.

"That's because she is innocent," I said. "I'm the one who killed people. I'm the one you want revenge on or whatever you want to do with us."

"I don't want to do anything to you," Hunt said, standing up. "Erin showed me the videos. Very clever to trick me into that but as I watched them, I realised that I was wrong about you. You don't work for Triple; you are being held hostage by them." He walked over to me and crouched down in front of me. I held his gaze, still not liking him. "It was brave, you know, putting yourself up to that kind of torture to protect Erin."

"What would you know about it?" I asked harshly. He was wandering into dangerous territory.

"You obviously love her a lot," Hunt said. Then he unlocked my handcuffs. I sprang at him, wrapping my hands around his throat. We crashed to the floor, me on top of him. His face was turning red as he struggled to gain oxygen. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw him press a button on his watch. Immediately, two guards stormed in, yanking me off him and smashing me against the wall.

Hunt got up, holding his neck. "Blimey," he said. "You've got a grip on you." He nodded to the guards who released me. "Go get the girl," Hunt told one of them. He shrugged and walked out the room.

"Look," Hunt said. "I'm not your enemy, but if you want to take down Triple, you're going to need my help."

"How do we know we can trust you?" I asked. "I mean, come on, you did drug us and handcuffed us to a radiator."

"Well I de-cuffed you from the radiator, risking my own life in the process," he said. "And also, I'm asking for your help too. None of us can do this without the other." Just as he finished, the door and opened again and Erin ran right into me. I hugged her tightly.

"Are you alright?" I asked.

"Yeah," she said. "Yeah I'm fine." I looked back at Hunt who was watching us carefully.

"So do we have a deal?" Hunt asked. "I help you so you help me?"

'What do you think, Erin?' I asked her inside her head. Telepathy seemed to be working again.

'This could be our only chance,' she replied. 'We can't kill him now anyway. We don't know how many guards he has. I think this could be our chance to get away from Triple.'

I thought about it for a second. Could we really trust him after he kidnapped us? He played us the whole time with Harry, Jack and Jackie. And I didn't like him. But Erin was right. If he was smart enough to play us, then he can play Triple. This was for Erin and no one else.

"Fine," I told Hunt. "If you help us then we'll help you but first, you have to tell us everything you know and what you've got. You're not going to take down Triple easily." Hunt smiled.

"I know," he said. "Then it's a good job I have a few connections."

***

Hunt took us up to the top floor of his skyscraper from where he cuffed us, which we found out it was a skyscraper when I almost fell down the ruined stairs from fifteen stories up.

The top floor was a lot nicer than the rest of the building. It had carpets, paint and sofas in the room. These days, carpet was a luxury.

"You can stay in this room," Hunt said to Erin. "I'm just down the hall and so will Josh be."

"Ok, thanks," Erin said, jumping on the sofa. "Right, enough with the formalities, Hunt. Spill." I gave Hunt a look, telling him he better do what she said.

"You guys don't mess around," Hunt chuckled, sitting next to Erin who moved to the far end of the sofa. "Well, what do you want to know?"

"First of all, how did you know who we were?" I asked.

"I'm a hacker, guys," he said. "I got into Triple's files and quite frankly, you're all over them."

"What do you think is in that file you want open?" Erin asked.

"Ermm...hmm I don't know considering I haven't opened it, god damn it," he said sarcastically. I clenched my jaw tightly. If it wasn't for the look Erin gave me I would have charged at him right there and then.

"What did you find out, then?" I said instead, gritting my teeth.

"Quite a bit," Hunt shrugged. "There's a lot about you two and your 'ultimate mission'." I glanced at Erin who had frozen.

"What 'ultimate mission'?" I said slowly.

"Oh come on, you know," Hunt laughed then stopped. "Wait, you do know, right?"

"Triple don't exactly trust us," I said, rolling my eyes.

"You're meant to wipe the earth clean," he said. "Once you've 'fully developed' as they put it, you'll create earthquakes and tsunamis, directing them at certain places and containing them there. You'll wipe everything and everyone out."
