40.5 | a wild tzuyu has (re)appeared

Jungkook sighed exasperatedly, pulling off his gaming headphones and begrudgingly throwing them onto his computer desk. The words 'You Lose' encoded in bold letters accompanied with flashing bright colors were displayed on the screen. It had been like this for three straight days; playing only to be met with loss after loss. No matter how many times he has tried, it seemed like the virtual world of gaming was no longer his escapade. Every time he finds a new game to play, fragments from his last conversation with Jisoo would flash in the back of his head. He often finds himself glancing over to his phone, that sat right next to his gaming mouse, patiently waiting for it to light up.

He knows he isn't supposed to expect anymore, and he is certainly aware that one of them has to speak—to lower their pride and be the bigger person. So what was stopping them? Why does it feel like there was this huge wall between them? Jungkook sighs as he decides to shut down his computer then he glances up to his digital wall clock that was situated above the desktop.

'12:30 AM'

He had been playing for nearly two hours. At this pace, it was almost certain that he was going to destroy his eyesight and start squinting. Jungkook pushed himself away from his set up, leaning against his gaming swivel chair, eyes locked onto the blank ceiling.

He sighs.

'I've been sighing a lot these days... Must be from the stress and..' His thoughts then trailed off as his gaze was stuck on his phone that was charging on the wooden nightstand. Jungkook then pries his eyes away from the phone and back to the blank ceiling.

'Call her dammit!'

'There is literally nothing stopping you.'

'What's the hold up?'

'Are you just going to sit there and look dumb?'

His thoughts began to crowd his mind, finding his inner conscience to be way too loud. The soft whirring of the electric fan started to become inaudible as Jungkook starts to hear more of his soft breathing. 'It's becoming too loud..' He voiced in his head. He needed to get out. He felt like the plain walls of his room was beginning to suffocate him. He couldn't stand it any longer.

He was definitely going to go out and have a breather.

The crisp cold air brushed harshly against his cheeks as he steps out the building of their dorm. Jungkook was right to wear his thick black sweater and padded jacket, otherwise, he would've made another trip back inside. He takes a quick glance at his sneakers, checking to see if those were properly tied. He then rummaged through the pockets of his thick black sweatpants, checking to see if his phone, wallet, and keys were there.

He proceeds to adjust his mask, pulling it up to cover half of his face. Once he was ready, Jungkook was off. Quiet and hastily, he walks down the lonesome sidewalk. The whole street seemed to have gone silent as there were little to no bystanders loitering around certain areas. Seeing cars passing by became seldom. It was honestly a crime or an anomaly to be out here on this ungodly hour, but with the male's messed up sleeping schedule, this was the new norm for him.

He continued to trudge along the concrete path, hands buried deep into the pockets of his padded jacket. Jungkook had sunk into deep thought, his mind wandering to his argument with Jisoo a few days ago. No matter how many times he recalled, in the end, they were both at fault. Communication is what they lacked, and maybe if he had approached the conversation better or ran after her, then maybe...

"Jungkook?"

His head perks up to the sound of his name. 'Jisoo?' was what immediately came to his mind, but alas, the universe wasn't too kind to him. Standing in front of him was Tzuyu, his ex-girlfriend. Her ensemble was a black turtleneck, a gray padded jacket, paired with black pants and boots. She was also wearing a mask, which was kind of a mandatory accessory for idols now. Jungkook then averts his gaze away from her and looks to his right side, seeing that he was now standing in front of a convenient store.

'Was I too lost in my own thoughts that I became less aware of my surroundings?' He thought before looking back at Tzuyu, "Hi.." He curtly nods, eyes locking with the girl.

"I'm surprised to see you here.." said Tzuyu, meekly tucking a strand of hair behind her cheek. She then gestured to the convenient store, "So, you heading inside?" She inquired, receiving only a nod as a response from the female. He then advances to the glass doors which automatically opened once he was close enough to the sensor.

He adjusts the mask, heading down the chips aisle, where he spots a couple chatting quietly as they attempt to agree on what pack of chips they should buy. Jungkook chuckles softly, remembering that one time Jisoo had stepped in when he was too 'nervous' to face his ex-girlfriend. She really managed to tug his heartstrings with a simple carton of banana milk after that. He smiles fondly at the memory, picking up a medium sized bag of honey butter chips. He looks over to the couple, who seemed to be conversing in their own world, before striding over to the 'drinks' aisle.

He skims over the various options before immediately picking up a can of pop soda. Jungkook then advances to the only register in the convenient store. His face was filled with dread when he spots Tzuyu, queuing behind the couple, who seemed to have filled an entire basket of goods. It would definitely take a while before the line would move again. Luckily, Tzuyu wasn't facing him at all, so he took this opportunity to quietly approach behind her.

However, his attempt to avoid her went to vain as Tzuyu immediately felt his presence behind her. The brunette meekly smiled, "Hi... Are you after this?" She inquired.

Jungkook wasn't really up for a conversation with her, considering how he's been feeling for the past three days, but he didn't want to seem rude. He basically brushed past her as if it was nothing; not to mention, she even made an attempt to give theirselves more closure after their breakup. He sighs, before shaking his head. He failed to notice the slight glimmer in Tzuyu's eyes at the the response. "Alright, how about we talk? I really don't want to go back to my dorm yet..." She said in a hushed tone.

"Okay-"

"Next customer please." The female cashier calls out, her tone sounding lethargic. It was obvious that she didn't want to be here but was probably left with no choice. Jungkook adjusts his mask again to the point where the material reaches his bottom lashes. He was always cautious when it came to interacting with cashiers when he was alone. He would often read stories about regular people encountering idols in their shifts and most of time, would spread like wildfire and became a trending topic. He certainly didn't want Jisoo to wake up to reading an article about a cashier seeing both him and Tzuyu at the convenient store at such an ungodly hour; there would be no more saving the relationship then. He hopes that Tzuyu had also adjusted her mask as she approached the register.

Tzuyu only had five items: a small loaf of choco-filled bread, strawberry milk, a small bag of banana chips, and two packs of gummy worms. After her items were scanned, bagged, and paid, she turns to Jungkook and gestures him to move up front. The male steps up and placed his two items on the counter. He pulls up his wallet, hearing the female cashier mutter out the price. He places the exact amount before waving his hands, signalling the cashier that there was no need to bag the items. He hastily grabs the receipt and goods before making his way to the exit.

Now standing outside, he looks around and spots Tzuyu sitting on one of the many vacant tables that was situated for the customers. He strides over to the second to the last table, placing his items on the table before sitting opposite to Tzuyu. "Alright, what is it that you want to talk about?" He asks, getting straight to the point.

Tzuyu pauses. "I was just wondering about your relationship with Jisoo..." She utters, concern laced in her tone, "Plus you seem out of it lately."

Jungkook raises a brow. "How did you know?"

"Yugyeom-ssi and Bambam-ssi told me how you've become sucky at games." Tzuyu says, trying her best not to offend Jungkook, "They then told me it might be about you and Jisoo."

Jungkook sighs, running his digits through his messy brown hair. "It is." He admits, looking at Tzuyu in the eye, "Are you going to try and console me?"

Tzuyu was taken aback by the bluntness of Jungkook. She was used to the male being soft-spoken that this new side of him caught her off guard. She calms herself before nodding. "Yeah." She answers, "I mean, if it's alright with you."

Jungkook thought for a second. Nothing good will come out of the situation if he was going to keep it all to himself. Though he felt a tad bit guilty that he hasn't confronted his hyungs about this. He tries to shrug off the feeling, as help had already presented itself in front of him, in the embodiment of a member of one of the South Korea's top idol groups. He really doesn't have that much of a choice anyways; declining the offer would be really rude. Thus, he nodded, and allowed Tzuyu to listen to his entire ordeal with Jisoo.

He didn't keep track of the time, but talking to Tzuyu felt like hours. Strangely enough, Jungkook felt like he could share every single problem with her. Perhaps it was the shared history between them or that they were in the same age group, but there was certainly something about the female that gave him comfort.

For the first time in three days, the loud thoughts in Jungkook's head disappeared as he continued to converse with Tzuyu under the midnight sky.
