I found a love for me

Makoto grinned to himself as he put on a pink 'kiss the chef' apron. Today was a very special day, and he couldn't wait to pull off the big surprise he had planned.

Darling just dive right in, follow my lead

Breakfast didn't take as long as he thought to make, which meant that he could cuddle Byakuya while he waited for the breakfast to cool.

Well I found a girl, beautiful and sweet

"Good morning Byakuya," Makoto smiled as he climbed back into bed.

Byakuya lazily opened his eyes to look at Makoto. "Morning Makoto," he murmured.

I never knew you were the someone waiting for me

"Today's a very important day," Makoto grinned. "So let's go eat breakfast."

"Alright, but can you help me?" Byakuya asked, propping himself up on his elbows.

"Of course Love," Makoto smiled.

Cause we were just kids when we fell in love

   Eventually, Byakuya was ready for the day and rolled into the kitchen in his wheelchair, Makoto following after him.

   "Makoto, who made this breakfast?" He asked after he had seen what Makoto had made that morning.

   "I did," Makoto grinned, kissing Byakuya's cheek. "I thought you might like it."

  "It's amazing..." he whispered.

   Before long, the breakfast was completely gone, and the two were getting ready to go out.

    Not knowing what it was

"Makoto, where are we going?" Byakuya asked, eyebrows raised. He had been blindfolded before the two of them had left the house and now had no idea as to where they were.

I will not give you up this time

"It's a surprise Byakuya," Makoto replied. "I'll let you when we get there."

Byakuya huffed, not liking that response.

   Darling  just kiss me slow, your heart is all I own

"Okay Byakuya, we're here," Makoto grinned as  he stopped the car.

  He got out and went around the car to help Byakuya out of the car and into his wheelchair.

  "Isn't this where we had our first date?" Byakuya pondered. "It costed me a fortune to take you. How'd you manage to pay for it?"

  "Our old classmates came together and raised money to help me pay for it. They want this day to be special for you."

  And in your eyes, you're holding mine

  The couple went inside the prestigious art gallery where they had gone on their first date back in high school.

"This place hasn't changed a bit, has it?" Byakuya smiled.

"No, it really hasn't," Makoto replied.

   Baby, I'm dancing in the dark, with you between my arms

  Towards the end of the day, the two of them relaxed on a grassy hillside, Byakuya in his wheelchair and Makoto on a bench. They talked about everything that came to mind.

  Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favorite songs

   Since they were in a more secluded area of the park, the pair played some of their favorite songs.

   When you said you looked a mess, I whispered underneath my breath

  "I probably look terrible right now," Byakuya muttered after a bit of a food fight between them.

   Makoto couldn't think more differently, and ruffled Byakuya's tomato sauce covered hair.

  But you heard it, "Darling you look perfect tonight"

"I...uh...thanks?" Byakuya blushed, wiping Mac and cheese off his face.

Well, I found a woman, stronger than anyone I know

Eventually the couple found their way back home. On the way back, Byakuya closed his eyes and wondered what he had possibly done to deserve Makoto.

She shares my dreams, I hope that someday, I'll share her home

"Remember how a year ago you knelt down and asked me to marry you?" Makoto asked, smiling at the memory.

"Of course I did," came the reply. "I can never forget it."

Cause we are still kids but we're so in love

"You still love me, right Makoto?" Byakuya asked, as the pair strolled down the sidewalk.

"Of course I do Byakuya. Forever and always." Came Makoto's reply.

Fighting against all odds

Makoto glared at a passing man whose mere gaze was enough to silence the Byakuya Togami. He was the one who had left Byakuya to fend for himself a little over three years ago.

"Hey, you're better than your old man ever was," Makoto whispered to him.

"Thanks," Byakuya smiled sadly.

   I know we'll be alright this time

     "Makoto!" Byakuya cried out, waking up from another nightmare. The ex-affluent prodigy was red faced, panting, and tears stained his cheeks.

   Luckily, Makoto was easily woken, and it wasn't long before he was comforting Byakuya and reminding him that he was still safe and that the accident hadn't killed him.

Darling just hold my hand; be my girl I'll be your man

Byakuya smiled to himself as he looked through an animal shelter's catalogue. He was looking for a special animal to surprise Makoto with as a birthday present.

"It's gotta be something small, easy to care for, and relatively inexpensive to maintain, since my medical bills are already pretty expensive..." he muttered to himself.

  I see my future in your eyes

  "Surprise Makoto!" Byakuya grinned, holding a box on his lap. Makoto raised an eyebrow when he saw the lid move up, but leaned down to lift the lid up.

   A small black and brown colored dog jumped out of the box, yipping and barking with excitement. "This is the best birthday surprise ever!" He cheered, hugging Byakuya in excitement.

   Byakuya and Makoto agreed to call the new addition to their family Egg, since it was easy to remember and the puppy was incredibly small anyways.

   Today was the first time little Egg would take a bath, with all hands on deck. Byakuya sat ready with a doggie towel while Makoto scrubbed the dog clean.

  It's funny how things don't work like we plan them to.

  In a matter of 15 minutes, Makoto was soaking wet like Egg, and Byakuya was laughing his head off.

   Barefoot in the grass, listening to our favorite song

  "Makoto, tell Egg that he can only go as fast as the wheelchair goes if he wants to ride in my lap," Byakuya sighed, after Egg had once again jumped off his lap and run off only to once again jump into Byakuya's lap.

"Will do Byakuya," Makoto grinned. "It's called a leash."

Soon the little dog's leash was attached to his collar, and Byakuya was able to hold the little dog in place.

  When I saw you in that dress, looking so beautiful, I don't deserve this

  "Byakuya?" Makoto asked.

   "What is it?" Byakuya replied without looking up, as he tried to hold Egg back from running after a squirrel.

"What'd I do to deserve you?"

  Byakuya paused for a moment. "That's what I wonder every single day."

  Darling you look perfect tonight

  "I'm sorry you had to help me get ready..." Byakuya muttered, his face scarlet.

  "Don't be sorry Byakuya," Makoto smiled, adjusting his tie. "It's not your fault you were in the accident, and I'm happy to help you however you need to."

"Makoto! Byakuya! I'm glad you could make it!" Sayaka grinned. "High school reunions are so exciting, don't you agree?"

"Well, I'm excited to see how everyone's been doing," Makoto politely replied.

"I do want to thank everyone for helping Makoto with our wedding anniversary last week," Byakuya admitted.

  I have faith in what I see

   Makoto and Byakuya found a quiet place to relax together. They had enjoyed the reunion, but it was quiet moments, like this, that they cherished more.

  Now I know I have met an angel, in person

  "Hey Egg!" The couple exclaimed several hours later as they entered their home.

  Egg wiggled his tail so hard that his whole body wiggled. It didn't take long for him to start jumping into Byakuya's lap.

  And she looks perfect

   "I love you, Byakuya,"  Makoto smiled as they got ready for bed.

"I love you too," Byakuya smiled back at him. When Egg yapped at him, Byakuya turned to face him. "Don't worry, I love you too Egg."

I don't deserve this

When the pair was finally nestled in their bed, Egg jumped up to join them. He finally claimed the small space between Byakuya and Makoto.

"I could never ask for a better husband than you," Makoto whispered, but Byakuya was already asleep. Makoto smiled as he took in his husband's features: messy hair, light snoring, and sleeping through Egg licking his face.

Before he drifted off to sleep, he leaned over to whisper in Byakuya's ear,

"You look perfect tonight."

Honestly songfics are my least favorite type of oneshot to write but this one was SO WORTH IT.
