You sat on the swing set, sun beginning to peek through the sky, only allowing your sadness to
become even more visible than before. The trees shook their branches, as if quivering and mourning in your company while the willow tree swayed remorsefully in the breeze.

Clouds parted and a slim ray of sunlight fell at your cheek, highlighting the visible held back tears. Your whole body trembled in guilt as it fell on you like a filter. Taking in unstable breaths, the memories seeming to haunt you.

"I don't know what to do anymore," you whispered out with a stutter, hunching your shoulder against the cold; touching the hanging leaves as they fell from the branches up above. The light reflecting on the red and yellow shades, looking like little flames flickering as they fell to their demise.

"And I just can't reach out to tell you, that I always wonder what you're up to.." You sang softly, pushing yourself back and forth, sniffling and wiping your tears with your fingertips.

"Fucking reality...," you bitterly muttered out, not being able to finish, tiny tears cascading down your cheeks, silently, leaving their trails without making a sound. Everything seemed quiet at this moment; calming down a bit you started swinging back and forth again.

"I hate this. Yet there's nothing I can do to stop this.. who knows if we'll feel the same way in a couple of years?" You whispered to the stray cat that's been watching you for a while, sitting on the rock beside you. It's round green eyes only blinked softly in response, gently grooming itself as you natively seemed to wait for some sort of response from the creature.

However soon enough a voice rang out from behind you. A voice that would sing sweet words and tunes in your ear, a voice that could mend any hitch in your heart.

"I'm hoping that you won't forget about us," he whispered out in a hoarse tone, his voice shaking with emotion. An emotion you've never heard before, an emotion that made your heart break a bit more then before.

You suddenly became still, your tears evaporating just as quickly as they came. With trembling hands you held tightly onto the metal chains, letting the coldness dig into your skin, willing your legs to keep swinging you back and forth. But your body didn't move, it wouldn't move. As if your whole being shut down at the sound of a voice, a voice you thought you'd only hear on the radio.

Warm hands were placed over yours, both of you holding onto the chains keeping the swing from falling short in rhythm. In actuality you wished you could break out of this rhythm. His sent was too much, him being this close was too much.

He was too much.

"Please. Jungkook just go," you quietly murmured, your voice drained of emotion. Exhaustion slithered its way into you, settling in for the long night ahead, the long nights ahead.

"Y/n.. please listen to me," he pleaded, turning around to face you as you caught a glimpse of his own tear glazed eyes.

"What more can you say? We're screwed," you snapped just as quickly with an unintentional voice crack. Shamefully turning your head to the side, not able to look into his eyes anymore.

They were too vulnerable.

He hesitatingly placed his finger beneath your chin, tilting you closer to face him. Carefully dipping his head down to grazed his soft lips against your own. Breathing softly but still close enough that you could feel each hitched exhale.

Everything filtered away, till just him breathing and you were left.

The trees vanished, the sun melted away, and sounds faded to nothingness.

Nothing was there except the boy who was trying to fix what you both had become, piece by piece.

He couldn't take it, wouldn't accept, this couldn't be fixed.

"Goodbye," you quietly whispered while pulling back before gazing up, willing him to stop crying as the small tears trailed down his cheeks.

"No.. I'm not leaving you like this. I can't," He protested, his voice quivering; reaches out to wipe away your tears but forgetting about his own. His eyes searched yours, ranges of emotion filtering in and out of both of you.

"You can't Jungkook. You have your Wings tour. You can't neglect your fans. You can't put me first this time," you firmly stated, bitting your bottom lip, "and when I move.. I don't know how we can keep this up. Long distance is always an option but will we last for years apart?"

"Scoot over," he bitterly commanded, a hint of anger at the situation showing. You moved to the side, making room for him, your eyes searching his posture with worry.

He sat next to you, wrapping his warm arms around your shoulders, sheltering you from reality.

But for how long could he protect the both of you?
