Impossible love story (DabixHawks)

"Yo, handjob." Dabi snickered as he walked into the room, his turquoise blue eyes glistening as he stepped closer "I brought someone you might wanna meet." He spoke, his voice laced with his normal cocky nature. He pulled in the slightly shorter blonde from behind him, pushing him infront of his own body in a way to present him to the rest. "This is Hiro Hokusu." He spoke "He's valuable." His eyes looked straight to Shigaraki, wondering what he was thinking. He couldn't stand the blue haired kid sometimes. He was so childish and he always acted like a toddler who got told no.

"And who is Hiro Hokusu?" The other asked, his voice scratchy, torn, gurgled, strangled, there was a million ways to describe Tomuras voice. Whether you say he had a childish murmur, or the voice of someone who was lost within their life. He was never a man to be messed with for some fucked reason Dabi couldn't pin down. He could have Tomura on the floor in seconds, yet, he feared to try.

"You can call me Hawks." The short blonde spoke up quietly, his crimson wings tucked behind himself neatly.

"Like the hero?" The blunette growled, pushing himself to his feet. "Did you lose a screw scraping your stables off the sidewalk?" He snarled, walking over with his hands to his side. His steps slow, each echoing in the room. "We cant have a he-"

"I'm not a hero anymore. I quit. I want nothing to do with being a hero." He spoke up, stepping closer to the raven haired man in a way that showed he didnt want to fight. "Dabi and I have known eachother for a long time, he can vouch for me, I'm trustworthy." He smiled, flicking the collar on his jacket up so it stood straight as he looked to the blue haired man infront of him.

"Prove it." He smirked, taking the hand off his face and holding it to his side. His expression was nothing. Completely emotionless.

"How..?" He asked, his eyes darting around the room in curiosity.

"Go out and bring me a finger." He spoke clearly, locking eyes with the other man, them both being around the same height, a smirk tugging at his ripped and dry lips. "Any finger, I frankly don't care."

"What?" Dabi asked, pushing Hawks out of his way to face his 'leader' in a slight state of confusion. "You never asked Crazy and I to do that. Why him?"

"Because I'm not being ratted out by some undercover hero, Dabi." He spat back, "he'll get me a finger or I'll cut off one of his. Understood?"

"He's not doing that."

"He is."

"No, He isn't."

"He'll do it if he knows what's good for him."

"I said he isn't doing I-"

"I can do it." Hawks spoke up, it was mainly to get the other two to shut up. He looked at Dabi and smiled "I understand that my...past position makes me difficult to trust...so I can do whatever you ask of me." He smiled towards the rest of the group "...Where am I meant to get a finger from?" He asked, raising his thick, obviously plucked to look more neat, ash blond eyebrows.

"Go out to the street. You'll find someone somewhere." Tomura smirked, turning away. "You have until morning or you'll regret it. Now leave. Out of my sight. Dabi. Go with the bird, make sure he doesn't pull one over us all."

"...Alright."

***Later that Night, three hours after sunset***

Dabi walked along the darker streets of the city with Hawks at his side. He kept glancing down at the winged man with admiration in his eyes.

Hawks is a relatively short man of quite a slim build with feathery ash blond hair swept messily backwards with some of the front tufts sticking up in arcs above his head, notably thick eyelashes, and some faint stubble on his chin. His eyes are brown and rather triangular in shape, with two little black triangles just below his tear ducts, making his eyes somewhat resemble those of a bird. Due to his quirk, he has a set of large bright red wings with feathers that gradually lengthen the further down they go.

He wears a black shirt with a wavy silver pattern like a ripple in a pond, over which he has a tan jacket with a high collar, the insides and cuffs of the sleeves lined with white fur, and black gloves. He has a square-shaped lobe piercing in each ear, although these are rarely visible as he usually wears a pair of green headphones over them, a shaped, blue-tinted visor attached at both sides to protect his eyes. The headphones were around his neck at the moment, his brown eyes scanning the streets. "A finger." He finally spoke up. "I cant cut off someone's finger, Dabi." He whispered, his hands beginning to shake.

"Dont worry about it, Hawks." The taller, raven haired boy said softly, looking down to his 'friend'. "Shagaraki is...stupid. He won't know who got the finger. Or where they got it from." His turquoise eyes would glow each time the moon escaped from the clouds. The brightness of his eyes gave Hawks an eerily familiar feeling inside, some nostalgic burning feeling from inside. He shook it off, stepping closer to Dabi in a slight need of comfort in this strange feeling. He really couldn't hurt someone. "Where are we going to find a finger?" He asked softly.

"Don't think about it." Dabi told him with a stern note to his voice, he placed a hand on Hawks' shoulder and pushed him to a store "Go..Find dinner or something. Meet me here in half an hour." He smiled, disappearing into the darkness of the night.

Hawks breathed out slowly and glanced around the small shop, it looked like a cheap, abandoned 7/11. He walked over and smiled shyly at the lady at the checkout. He pointed to the spinning hot dogs turning in the machine. He figured he might as well eat something while he waited. No point sitting down like a nervous wreck waiting for the villain to return with someone's finger.

He stepped outside of the store and nibbled at the food, sliding down the wall until he met the ground with a soft thud.

It felt like hours until Dabi showed up, he seemed unphased at the fact he had a thumb in a sandwich bag inside his left coat pocket. "Sorry I took a little longer." He spoke with a dull tone.

"...What...what did you do...?" He whispered, pushing himself to his feet. A frown tugged his lips at the lack of reply he received from Dabis silence. He shook his head and looked ahead. "What...do I say I done?"

"Just say a knocked out drunk on the street seemed like the perfect target. No attention was drawn so we weren't followed back."

***Back At The League Of Villains***

Shigaraki gave the two a skeptical look before taking the bag that Hawks handed him with nervous hands. "Where'd you get it?" He asked, looking the two up and down.

"...A...A homeless man." Hawks replied, looking into the blunettes eyes. "He was asleep. And there was alcohol beside him, so I just guessed that...they were the best pick." He spoke, scratching the back of his neck "D-Dabi just watched." He whispered, heart racing within his chest. He hated to even think about what may have actually happened.

"I couldn't care less what scar face over there did." He scowled, tossing the finger into the trash without a second though. "Alright, birdy. You're in. Dont disappoint me. You'll regret it."

***Hours later, Dabis 'room'***

Hawks sat at the end of Dabis bed broadly, rocking himself back and forth. "Hey." He began to speak, looking at Dabi with slightly concerned eyes. The blue eyed boy flicked his head up to look at him, raising his eyebrows in question. "What's going on in that beautiful mind?" He smiled, speaking in a sing-song voice. A smile tugging his lips as Dabi playfully rolled his eyes. "I'm on your magical mystery ride~" he hummed "And I'm so dizzy. Dont know what hit me, but I'll be alright~" he smiled, crawling closer to him and plopping beside him.

"What do you want, Birdy?" Dabi asked, looking down at the blonde curiously.

"To understand you more."

"We've known eachother for a few weeks, dont you know enough?" He sighed, shifting in his spot.

"I don't know your real name." Hawks began "Where you're from. Why you're a villain. Your scars."

"You're annoying."

"But you keep me around anyway." He smirked, sticking his tongue out and laughing softly "I'm just curious. If I'm going to be staying around you, I want to know about you more. Trust you more."

"...No."

"No?"

"I said fucking no. Got a problem? Go hunt for worms and leave me alone." He snarled, leaning further into the corner of the bed. He didn't need to talk about his past. He didn't understand why anyone did. Hawks already knew enough about him. He knew he liked soba, he knew that he dyed his hair. He didn't know what the original color was though. He knew that he wasnt born with his scars. He knew that Dabi had a stolen credit card that he used to have an awesome apartment. No one else in league knew about that though. Dabi liked to keep his life a secret. He liked to keep himself to...well, himself. Though, he wouldn't deny that he felt this strange pull towards Hawks, the winged guy drawing him in like no one ever had before.

"Okay, I wont ask anything else." He sighed, wrapping his wings around himself tightly. "Do we have to stay here tonight? Your place is nice-"

"You're not coming to my place." Dabi interjected with a foul glare towards Hawks. "I ain't taking you there again."

"Awe, come on, man."

"No. We stay here."

"Bu-"

"Leave me alone."

"...." He sighed, leaving it at that and fiddling with a feather of his own. He wanted to find a way through Dabis walls, get his trust.

During the night, the pair had managed to curl into each other, Hawks's leg hooked over Dabis thigh, his head rested on his chest as the other played with his fingers, running his fingers throughout the gentle feathers, feeling each and every one with the most gentle touch. Dabi listened to Hawks begin to fall asleep, he felt joy, happiness having him there, so close. Right there, with him.

***The next morning***

Hawks rubbed his eyes as he pushed himself to sit up, he must have fallen asleep while sitting in Dabis room last night. He felt a wave of irritation and curiosity flood through him at the sound of the 'Lov' yelling at their blue haired leader for turning the bathroom door handle into dust. Again. He pulled himself to stand up, looking down at himself to make sure he was slightly presentable to even face the league. He was surprised to see Dabi sipping on a glass of...some alcoholic beverage, well, he assumed it was. He walked over and sat beside him. "What's going on?" He whispered

"Handjob keeps fucking everything up with his dumbass quirk." He replied "Nobody can use the toilet until someone gets a new handle. I ain't doing it."

He looked over and frowned softly "I can to get one, it's no bother. Nobody would recognize me as you guys yet." He smiled, snatching Dabis drink and taking a small sip "Really." He grinned, snickering as Dabi let out a small growl of annoyance before Hawks gave it back and stood up, leaving to get the new doorknob for the bathroom.

It was that day when Dabi had left to go get some snacks for himself when he had heard it, he had heard an all to familiar voice speaking, a voice he had found himself now unconsciously walking towards it, hearing the muffled voice slowly becoming clearer. His feet dragged him to the corner, a small alley way close to Endeavors company building. He felt his own footsteps faulter at the chime of another voice. One he dreaded so darkly. Enji Todoroki. He pressed his back to the wall before the corner of the alley way and looked forward, listening into the words they spoke. He felt his heart sink down to his stomach when he heard what they were speaking about. He felt his eyebrows knit together angrily, his entire body filled with this disgusting feeling of betrayal and hurt. He clenched his fists tightly, meek blue flames dancing over his knuckles as he pushed himself from the wall, forcing himself to walk away before doing something he'd regret. He'd play this out, but now wasn't the time.

--
Hawks smiled drunkenly at Dabi, swirling his drink within his glass. His eyes danced up and down the others shirtless, scarred, beautiful body. Dabi had dragged Hawks out of where the league were later that night, he had taken him back to his apartment, the one place he had to himself normally. Dabi raised his hands into the air putting them behind his head as he looked down at Hawks who was sitting down. His eyes were narrowed as he stared down at him, going over each of his features calmly. He wanted to walk over and grab him, he wanted to push him to the wall and lock their lips together. He wanted to spend the night together like they had so many times, to hold him tightly, feel his body, every curve, every edge of him. He sucked in a slow breath through his lips, letting them stay ever so slightly parted. "I was careless, I forgot...Theres really nothing to say." He whispered. "You went...and you done that so effortlessly." He felt his stomach boil, he felt furious and betrayed. Hurt. "You have won you can go ahead tell them." He huffed, letting his hands fall to his side as he turned away from the blonde.

"What?" Hawks smiled, laughing softly "Have you had more to drink than I have. Tell who what?" He shook his head, putting his glass down and standing up. He couldn't even begin to comprehend what happened next so quickly. He saw Dabi stepping closer, he felt his collar being grabbed and he felt his head smack against the wall roughly "argh-!" He groaned, looking up with wide eyes, his fingers wrapping around Dabis wrists. "W-What are you doing!?" He yelled, looking up at him with fear. His eyes scanned Dabis face, his eyes were piercing blue, full of anger and dispare. He gasped meekly as he felt the heat rise on his neck "D-Dabi? Dabi you're burning me- Let go. Let go of me. What are you a-angry about!?"

"I heard you!" Dabi yelled, pulled him back from the wall and slamming him against it again with more force. "Telling him everything. You were fucking lying to me, Hawks! Running away to tell that scum about us, about our plans, you promised me you had nothing to do with them!"

Hawks felt himself pale, he felt his soul leave his body as he continued to try squirm and push Dabi off him. "I didn't- I wasn't-"

"I HEARD you! Stop LYING to me!" He screamed, flames emitting from his hair, rage flaming throughout his entire being.

"D-Dabi you're h-hurting me..." He whispered, desperately clawing at his wrists "Dabi I cant br-breathe..." Hawks whimpered, "I-I had to tell them all I know..." He muttered, his voice becoming hoarse.

"What's next? Huh? Shouting it from the roof tops? Making everyone think you're some amazing hero who just wanted to help?" He snarled, tightening his grip on his neck.

"I-Ill right it on the skyline if I need too." Hawks said through his short breaths.

Dabi felt his hand begin to shake, his anger turned to hurt, his eyes began to sting with tears, he felt like everything they had was finished. "All we had is gone now." He whispered harshly, his fingers slowly lessening their grip on his neck.

Hawks looked into his eyes, small droplets trickling down his own cheeks. "I-I was happy." He whispered, panting meekly as he tried to regain his breathing.

Dabi finally let go of Hawks' neck, watching as he fell to the ground while holding onto the now slightly burnt skin. "My heart is broken." He whispered gently, realising what the pain in his chest was. It didn't seem to be anger anymore, it was heartbreak. He looked down, he felt no pity at the sight of Hawks holding his knees to his chest, shaking as he held his neck and still tried to regain whatever oxygen he had lost. He turned his back to him, feeling tears cool his boiling skin. "Leave. Go. Dont come back or I'll burn you alive. You and that scum."

Hawks slowly moved his hands from his neck, pressing them to the ground as he pushed himself up. "Dabi..." he whispered "Dabi, if you would listen." He spoke gently, "listen to my wo-"

"I said leave!" Dabi yelled once again that night, his hand igniting in flames.

Hawks flinched, he hadn't felt afraid of Dabi before, he hadn't felt scared of the league before this night. He had felt trust within them, some warmth of acceptance. He had thrown that away. It was his job to throw it away. He hadn't had a choice. It was the right thing to do. He had wanted to love Dabi, he had wanted to be a hero and love a villain. Love a dangerous man while protecting innocent souls. It took whatever he had left within himself to take steps towards the apartment doors. "I won't tell them anything about you." He tried to assure. "I promise."

"Empty words." Dabi scolded, not bothering to turn to face him once. Not wanting to look at him ever again.

"I love you." Hawks muttered almost silently as he stepped out of the apartment for the last time. The door closing gently behind him.

"I love you too." Dabi replied once he knew nobody could hear him speaking. Loving a hero, the biggest mistake he'd ever make. A mistake he'd never let himself make again.
