Synopsis: In which (Y/n), a spirit, follows a crying man who's singing on a rainy day and inspires him.
(Inspired by Namjoon's playlist, Mono)

"You're aggravating me, Namjoon."

"I'm sorry."

"I specifically stated that your playlist would be done by today. As the leader, I expected more of you."

"I'm so sorry. I just haven't had the inspiration for song lyrics." Namjoon hung his head at being scolded. He was being yelled at once again by his music producer for not getting his act together. Lately, Namjoon has been putting less effort and hadn't been trying in any singing, rapping, or dancing for their new album and his playlist.

"You're always apologizing, it's starting to lose its significance. What is going on with you?" The producer crossed his arms.

"I'm aware of that. I-I don't know what's going on with me..." Namjoon stuttered. He felt like crying for some reason but couldn't bring himself to do so.

"Aish...how about you take a walk for a while. Clear your head a bit and come back when you're back to your usual self." He sighed, giving up, and patted Namjoon's shoulder before walking out of his studio. Namjoon slumped in his chair after the door closed. He didn't know what was wrong with him, perhaps he did but he didn't want to admit it.

Namjoon closed his eyes and allowed his other senses to take over for a bit. He could hear the light tappings of raindrops hit against the walls of the entertainment building. He could smell his studio, which reminded him of music sheets and coffee. The taste of bitter coffee from the cup he drank earlier lingered in his mouth. His palms felt sweaty and clammy and his knee wouldn't stop bouncing. He was nervous, but he didn't know why. It was odd. He didn't have these kinds of feelings before. With a sigh and a soft rumble of thunder in the background, he made a decision.

"A walk sounds nice."

(Y/n) (L/n) was a spirit that often visited the mortal place. She loved the earth dearly and she didn't want to let go of her home even after death. She loved this day especially, finding the rain to be the calmest thing in the world. After visiting her grave, (Y/n) turned into a small city-street that had vendors and little, cute shops littering the sidewalks.

(Y/n) often saw couples walk down this very street. As she looked around, she could still see various couples with umbrellas, most of them holding each other or a large coffee. She witnessed people busy with their phones or technology, none of them paying attention to the wonderful lights sparkling because of the rain or the lovely weather.

(Y/n) was disappointed at the people who were oblivious to the beautiful weather and only paid attention to themselves.

She was one to notice the people who were struggling. People who were either having a bad day or a bad life. She could see the dullness in some of their faces and the despair in their eyes. She could see them being pushed and shoved by people who were consumed by selfishness and didn't care for other people's well-being.

She knew they were suffering internally.

She could tell the difference between the tears and the raindrops.

It was saddening to see them slowly pick themselves up with reluctance and a more broken look on their faces. She wanted to help them, to let them know that not only was the rain crying for them.

But her as well.

She cries for others to ease or forget their pain. It's because her heart yearned for the mortals' happiness. Those who were innocent were hurt and had suffered the most. She knows that they don't think that anyone would cry for them.

Except for the rain.

She knows the feeling of not having someone next to her. No one who cares enough. She had experienced that when she was alive. Finally, she decided that she wanted to help them as much as she can. Her kindness and consideration for them was undeniable. It was too bad that a kind human like her was taken away so early in her life.

With an intake of air, she stepped out into the rain from under the bus stop. Rain drizzled onto her, moisturizing her (h/c) hair and light clothes just a bit. A small girl - most likely a high schooler - was not doing well and she fell. But no one bothered to help her, all too caught up in themselves. (Y/n) sped walked to the girl without hesitation and picked up the girl's bag. She held out a hand with a soft smile to help her up.

"I swear, it gets better." She said softly so only the high schooler could hear her. (Y/n) handed her the bag she dropped and with a pat on the shoulder, she went on her way. She heard the girl say thanks softly before she could get far. (Y/n) turned back to see the girl clutching her bag over her head and a faint smile on her face.

That's one person she made feel better.

The rain in this area was now a drizzle and (Y/n) was basking in it. She adored the rainy weather and the sound of soft music from cafes following its beat.

'Think positively. Everything will be okay...' (Y/n) prayed for the other suffering humans in the world.

Since she was happy with herself and living freely as an spirit, she wanted others to feel this euphoria. Not the death, but the happiness that was difficult to come by.

(Y/n) didn't want to let people fall down knowing that she could hold onto them and lift them up. Sure it was a selfless and unneeded act, but she felt obligated to do this. She wanted to help others. Be the hero even though she didn't have any special powers like angels or God.

She wanted to heal others during this never-ending rainy day.

(Y/n) saw a poor, homeless man sitting under a small overhead to shelter himself from the rain. She took action once again by discreetly giving the man a coffee and an umbrella from a nearby convenience store. Once she gave it to him, he happily cried out a prayer to her and bowed to her as if she was a goddess. With a smile and a wave, she disappeared from his sight and walked away to a nearby cafe.

That's another person happy.

She was pleased with herself. She assisted through these acts of kindness. (Y/n) hoped others would see her acts and try to do the same by making a difference in the world. The world and society were slowly becoming corrupted and it was up to the humans to stand up and become one to fight this darkness. She believed that they would if someone started it. With a light inhale and exhale she made a decision.

"I shall help more."

——

Namjoon breathed in the fresh rain, feeling the rain hit his coat and hat. He didn't bother bringing an umbrella, he enjoyed the rain. It was something that cried for him when others or himself couldn't. He felt dull and so monotoned. There was nothing in this life that could help his pessimism or his discouraging feelings. He took a glance at the rain above and closed his eyes as he felt the drops slide down his face. A sorrowful tune rose from his throat and before he knew it, he started to sing a quiet, meaningful melody. His vocal range was incredible at reaching the lowest notes to bring out the sorrow in his heart. He felt warm raindrops release from his eyes.

Before he knew it, he started adding lyrics to the tune.

"I wish it rains all day
Cuz I'd like someone to cry for me..."

His heart poured into the song. Such sorrowful emotions coming from his throat made others glance at him.

"I wish it rains all day
Cuz then people wouldn't stare at me..."

He felt their constant stares as he started to lose himself in the song.

"Cuz the umbrella would cover the sad face..."

He started to regret not bringing his umbrella to hide his shame.

"Cuz in the rain people are busy minding themselves"

No one bothered to ask if he was okay. No one would be bothered enough to ask a fellow human being if they were okay even if they were breaking down in front of them.

"Gonna breathe a little slower
Cuz my life and my rap, they're usually too fast"

He started to slow down his song reminding himself of how angry he used to be back then. How he rapped so fast with such profanity to try to prove himself.

"Now everything goes back to its place
My shadow's reflected on the sky
I'm standing on the darkness
Head down, to my heels..."

He felt lost and depressed. He thought everything was okay with how his career was booming and his band members' hard work had paid off.

"Slow rap, slow jam, slow rain
Everything slow
Slow rap, slow jam, slow rain
Everything slow..."

Maybe it seemed fast for others. But it was slow for him. It took him so long to get to this point where he is at today.

"Forever rain...Forever rain..."

He didn't know what was wrong but he was glad the rain was there to hide his tears.

(Y/n) breathed in the fresh rain, feeling the rain hit her (f/c) coat and moisturizing her hair. She didn't bother bringing an umbrella, she enjoyed the rain. It was something that brought out the despair in people and helped her spot them. She felt so bright and colorful. There was always something in this life that she could help or make someone feel better. She took a glance at the rain above and closed her eyes as she felt the drops slide down her face. A calming tune rose from her throat and before she knew it, she started to sing a quiet, meaningful melody. Her vocal range was incredible at reaching the highest notes to bring out the content in her heart. She felt warm raindrops release from her eyes.

"When it rains I get a little feeling that I do have a friend..."

She was actually singing in sync with another person. Her soprano voice perfectly blended with an alto voice that seemed to echo down the now-empty sidewalks.

"Keeps knocking on my windows
Asks me if I'm doing well
And I answer, I'm still a hostage of life..."

Her heart pained for the person singing such a sad tune with lyrics that made it seem like he was trapped.

"I don't live because I can't die
But I'm chained to something..."

She let her voice carry down the streets as her feet took her to the source of the deep voice. She opened her eyes, peering down the empty sidewalks.

"Just like you, If I could
Just knock on somewhere..."

She let out a harmonized note to follow his as she glanced down the sidewalks. She got a glance of a man turning the corner and she followed.

"If I could kiss the whole world so hard
Would someone welcome me..."

She turned the corner and found the man standing in the middle of the street. The rain was pouring a bit heavier than an hour ago, blurring her vision slightly.

"Maybe embrace my weary body
Please don't ask any questions
But do keep pouring forever..."

She quieted down and stood at the end of the street, parallel to him. She got a good look of the man as her heart pounded for some reason.

"I'm not lonely when you're pouring
Please stay by my side
Wanna live in the ashy world
I know that there's no forever..."

She echoed him suddenly, startling him and making him lose his tune for a bit. He whirled around to find a small female in white singing after him.

"Slow rap, slow jam, slow rain
Everything slow
When it rains it pours
It pours..."

It was as if she was reading his mind. She sang perfectly in sync with him, creating a hauntingly beautiful melody that seemed to bloom down the street.

"Forever rain (Forever rain)
Forever rain (Forever rain)
Forever rain (Forever rain)
Forever rain (Forever rain)
forever..."

Namjoon made eye contact with (Y/n). Her smile seemed to be a light in the dull world. (Y/n) met Namjoon's eyes with her own. His eyes seemed to be losing a spark in the bright world.

"Pour on me..."

With a blink of his eyes, she appeared in front of him while looking up into his eyes. He froze, not thinking to question the woman in front of him or how she got to him so quickly. It was as if his mind stopped working. He was amazed at the beautiful woman in white in front of him. Her aura held something far beyond this world's comprehension. He saw raindrops on her long, dark eyelashes as her (e/c) eyes seemed to shine so brightly. A delicate smile rose on her face as she gently wiped his tears.

"It all passes someday, for sure...Everything needs to go through pain. Embrace the world and suck in a breath. Certainly, everything goes. "

Her soft voice reached his ears. With wide eyes, he looked down at her as the rain stopped.

"Everything goes..."

He blinked and she was gone.
But he finally had the inspiration for lyrics.
