Ninjago Movie: AeriaxLloyd- First Date

AN and Background Info (you can read or skip)- So when I was writing the last chapter of my Lego Ninjago Movie OC Insert, I hadn't originally planned on having Lloyd ask my OC Aeria on a date but then I thought what the heck I may as well hint to my other Ninjago fanfic "The Second Master of Wind" with their relationship, but after I ended the story I realized that writing a date scene would challenge me both as a writer and as a socially inept person to express emotions, so I decided to write this kind of bonus chapter for those of you who've read the aforementioned story.

While researching first date ideas I came up with the following list:

First Date Ideas

-Flying around the city

-Roller skating

-Ferry ride

-Stargazing

-Beach stroll

-Taking dancing lessons

-Obstacle course

and, having a hard time picking just one thing out, I figured I could try to use all of them to some extent and I think I did pretty good, I hope you enjoy it ^^

3rd Person POV with Lloyd

It was a bright and sunny Saturday and Lloyd was in his room in front of the mirror straightening his hair for his first date with Aeria.

On the counter next to the mirror sat the card Aeria made and got the others to sign and the box next to it was open to reveal that the gift she had made for him was a memory box; a box that, when opened, revealed several flaps that open like flower petals to show that each "petal" held a picture from some good times with the others and in the center was a little pedestal where his initials were written in a fancy curlicue style with a matching yin yang symbol to his bracelet.

"Ok Lloyd big day..." Lloyd started to talk to himself nervously as he straightened the white dress shirt he wore underneath his open green sweater with a pair of jeans rolled at the cuffs to show off his nice sneakers and Aeria's bracelet was on his wrist.

"Lloyd, your friends are here!" Koko called up to him from downstairs.

"Friends?" Lloyd questioned and went downstairs to see that Kai, Cole, Jay, and Zane were there.

"Dude, why didn't you tell us you finally managed to ask Aeria out on a date?!" Kai questioned excitedly and Koko appeared to exclaim,

"Date!"

"Moooom!" Lloyd yelled embarrassed while freezing in place before she disappeared and he asked his friends urgently,

"How did you guys find out?"

"Aeria informed Nya and Xia, Xia informed me while Nya informed Jay, and Jay informed Kai and Cole." Zane answered straightforwardly.

"Dude, a first date is a big deal, it determines whether or not two people are meant for each other." Cole brought up, only increasing Lloyd's nervousness,

"Yeah no pressure or anything..."

"Relax, your bros are here to uphold the Bro Code." Kai made jazz hands to embellish said rule.

"I was unaware of this code of conduct among brothers." Zane questioned in confusion.

"It basically just means that we're going to be here to have Lloyd's back while he's dating Aeria. It's one of the unsaid rules of the Bro Code that we follow to. the. letter." Jay explained punctuating every word of the last sentence.

"Oh you mean like how one of the Bro Code rules says that sisters are supposed to be off-limits?" Kai asked pointedly.

"Gah how long are you going to be mad at me for that?" Jay complained before they started to argue with each other until a voice yelled over them,

"BOYS!"

Making them freeze in place before they turned to see Koko in the room with a stern look on her face.

"None of this is making him feel any better and last I checked the 'Bro Code' said you'd be there for a fellow bro to make them feel better about stressful situations."

"Yes Ma'am..." The boys admitted before Koko smiled and handed Lloyd a small bouquet of assorted purple flowers.

"Oh man I forgot to get flowers!" Lloyd slapped his forehead before saying to his mom as he hugged her, "Thanks."

"Of course," Koko told him before releasing him and asking, "Do you need me or your dad to come with you to pick her up."

"No! I-I mean no thank you." Lloyd quickly corrected himself before running for the door and waving behind him, "I'll be back later!"

"Have a good time!" Koko called out right before Lloyd closed the door and started walking towards Aeria's neighborhood.

"Follow them?" Kai questioned.

"Duh!"

"Of course."

The rest of them chorused before leaving Lloyd's house to follow him.

Meanwhile with Aeria...

"Is this really necessary girls?" Aeria questioned as she sat on her bed in her room while Nya was applying blush to her face and Xia was going through what little jewelry she had to figure out what would best compliment her outfit based on colors and designs.

"Is this not what friends are for?" Xia questioned earnestly.

"Besides it's the Girl Code." Nya added as she finished her makeup and went to work on her hair.

"'Girl Code'?" Aeria questioned dubiously.

"Yes, Nya did not agree with your former outfit and according to bullet point 2 of the 36 Unwritten Rules of Girl Code, 'Tell a girl her outfit has a malfunction or if it looks bad.'"

"What was wrong with my other outfit?" Aeria asked indignantly.

"You wear your leather jacket every day, that t-shirt had a bleach stain in the sleeve, and those other jeans had holes and singe marks in them, they're good for school but a first date is a pretty big deal." Nya finished up her hair and handed Aeria a mirror before she added, "Besides, I think this is casually formal but still you."

Aeria was now wearing a violet blouse with a denim jacket Nya lent her and a pair of jeans with some nice black boots and her hair was up in a ponytail with the ends curled and her bangs framing her face while curled as well and Xia had picked out a simple wind swirl symbol pendant on a silver chain with a matching bracelet and arranged her dragonfly hair clip to where it was still visible but wouldn't risk tangling with her bangs.

"This is actually... really nice." Aeria admitted as she moved her bangs aside a bit.

"Right?" Nya gave her a side hug while Xia put a hand on her shoulder before Nya asked, "Where's your date gonna be and for how long?"

"I don't know, Lloyd just said he'd pick me up, he didn't say anything about a plan." Aeria answered honestly.

"Then I would not recommend going to the East side of town around 9 o'clock because there is a 78% chance of rain in that area tonight." Xia informed her.

The sound of a doorbell interrupted their conversation right before they heard Morro call out,

"Aeria, Lloyd's here!"

"I better hurry before Morro gives him the 'bring her home by this time' talk." Aeria smiled nervously before hurrying out of her room.

"Bring her back by 8 or else you'll be a foot shorter." Morro was standing at the doorway in front of Lloyd doing his best intimidating brother impression and stance.

"Come on, don't be such a square." Aeria appeared next to him and Lloyd stared at her for a moment before shaking his head and handing her the flowers before bargaining, "11."

"9." Her brother countered.

"10. Final offer."

"Fine..."

"Thank you." Aeria gave him a hug before handing him the bouquet, "And put these in a vase for me?"

"Sure..." Morro took the flowers after Aeria took one of the smaller purple roses and tucked it behind her ear closest to her dragonfly clip.

"Come on." Aeria took Lloyd's hand with her free one and led him away from her home. Morro watched them go and asked Nya and Xia as they were starting to leave as well,

"You're gonna follow them and make sure everything goes alright, right?"

"Duh." Nya answered.

"It is bullet point 6 in the 'Girl Code'." Xia added about to hurry after the pair before she added, "And according to Nya we must also abide by bullet point 27 which dictates that we will metaphorically 'kill' Lloyd if he breaks Aeria's heart now or anytime in the future."

"Glad you got that down but you might want to hurry to catch them." Morro pointed to the pair before they disappeared around a corner.

"Come on!" Nya pulled on Xia's arm to run after them leaving Morro to smile and shake his head to himself before going back inside and shutting the door behind him.

Meanwhile, Aeria and Lloyd were walking down the street toward the pier in awkward silence until Aeria broke it with,

"So where are we heading?"

"Uh well... I know that you like stargazing and I was hoping to catch the ferry out to sea so we could see the stars better away from the city." Lloyd explained as he pulled out two slips of paper from his pocket.

"Oh you remembered that?" Aeria smiled remembering the time she told Lloyd that she loved stargazing.

"Of course, how could I forget the time we snuck out after that blackout to see the stars-"

"At the old playground."

They chorused together before laughing as they remembered that particular memory before they made it to the edge of where the city met the beach.

"Hey what time is the ferry supposed to leave?" Aeria asked as she shook some sand off her boots.

"Around 6, why?"

"It's 5:57."

"Then we better run!" Lloyd grabbed Aeria's hand and they both ran toward the pier and were passing a volleyball court when the people playing there hit the ball toward them and Aeria was quick to kick it back to them, but she sent a spray of sand flying into the air where it hit Lloyd dead in the face and he had to stop to rub at his eyes painfully.

"Oh my gosh I'm so sorry!" Aeria stopped with Lloyd and tried to help him open his eyes but to no avail.

"I'll get you some water." She ran off to find anywhere she could get a water bottle, leaving Lloyd by himself as he stumbled around trying to find his way around.

When Aeria finally got back with a water bottle in hand, she didn't see Lloyd where she had left him and looked around to see him blindly heading toward a group of people dancing on roller skates.

"Oh boy!" Aeria ran towards him, dodging past people skating around to a quick and upbeat tempo.

"What's happening?" Lloyd questioned as he tried to open his eyes again only to close them again with a wince.

"I need you to follow my lead to get out of this situation." Aeria looked around at the people dancing in a large circle around them and caught onto the beat.

"I trust you." Lloyd told her earnestly.

Aeria took hold of his hand and twirled him out of the way of a guy who skated right where Lloyd had been moments ago and when a pair came at them with hands linked creating a bar with their arms Aeria called out,

"Dive back!" And she and Lloyd dove back limbo style to avoid the interlinked arms. As they bolted back upright, Aeria's rose fell out from behind her ear and she caught it between her teeth as she dipped Lloyd to avoid a sweeping kick from one of the dancers before she and Lloyd danced around a few more people to finally get out of the circle of skate dancers.

"Whoo what a rush." Aeria spoke after getting the rose out of her mouth and put it back into its place behind her ear.

"Did we make it out?" Lloyd asked, still blind to everything that just happened.

"Yeah. Here, this should help." Aeria opened the water bottle and started pouring it on Lloyd's face to wash away the sand in his eyes, but ruining his sweater and shirt at the same time.

"Thanks, that feels a lot better." Lloyd blinked a few times to fully clear his eyes before frowning at his wet clothes, "Well there goes my sweater..."

"I'm sorry, I should've been a little more careful when kicking while walking in sand."

"And we missed the ferry..." Lloyd grumbled before going to sit on a bench with his head in his hands.

"Hey it's alright..." Aeria went to sit down next to him and put a hand on his shoulder.

"No it's not alright..." Lloyd lifted his head up to look at Aeria, "I wanted this night to go perfectly and now we're without a plan and with four hours left with nothing to do."

Aeria patted Lloyd's shoulder and he hung his head in despair again before she started to admit to him

"Lloyd, I don't care what we do, all I care about is that I get to do it with you..." Lloyd looked at her as she continued, "Way before we became the Green and Violet ninja, I knew that you..."

"Yeah?" Lloyd looked up at her hopefully.

"That you and I..." Aeria was struggling to find the words since she wasn't one to talk about emotions all that often before she hopped off the bench and offered,

"How 'bout I just show you what I mean?"

Holding her hand out to Lloyd and he looked at her unsure before he smiled and took her hand, allowing her to pull him up from the bench. Putting an arm around his waist, she used her free hand to send a blast of air to the ground to send them up into the sky.

"Woah!" Lloyd held onto Aeria tightly as they soared up and hovered right beside a large skyscraper.

Letting go, Aeria swung Lloyd up into the air and he screamed when he started falling back down toward the ground until Aeria caught him with one hand and they spun around in midair and Aeria was about to spin away out of reach until Lloyd pulled her closer before they went back upright and continued to spin and twirl around in midair until they made it to the top of the skyscraper where they landed on the long arm of the tower crane.

"That was..." Lloyd breathed out.

"Awesome?"

"Terrifying."

"But you felt it right?"

"Felt what exactly, y'know other than absolute terror?" Lloyd asked as he sat down on the beam.

"Come on it wasn't that bad." Aeria argued as she sat down next to him.

"I'm pretty much scarred for life." Lloyd joked more light heartedly.

"No you're not." Aeria lightly bumped his shoulder with her own before she explained, "That feeling that... I've got your back and you've got mine... no matter what we face that that connection we have is gonna overcome anything the world throws at us."

"Yeah... I felt that too..." Lloyd placed a hand over his heart before taking Aeria's hand in his own and they smiled at each other before Lloyd questioned,

"Are we just gonna ignore the fact that people are most likely watching us?"

"Are they?" Aeria smirked as she looked to the horizon to see that nighttime was finishing creeping over the city to where their silhouettes against the sky were fading and they virtually became invisible in the shadows of the crane.

"We might not be able to see the stars from here, but it's still a pretty nice view of the city." Lloyd admired watching the moving lights of cars on the streets and seeing streams of people moving along the sides of the streets, "I had no idea people we're so busy around 9."

"Wait, aren't we on the East side of the city?" Aeria asked suddenly.

"Yeah why?"

"It's supposed to rain right about now."

No sooner than she said it, a few drops of water started to fall from the sky followed by countless more.

"Aww man and I just dried off." Lloyd complained before Aeria took his hand and, without a word, leaped off the skyscraper with him in tow and they both fell through the air until it felt like they hit something solid that they ended up sliding along on while standing up in a surfing position.

"Woah how're we doing this?" Lloyd asked as he looked down at his feet to see he was standing on nothing high above the ground.

"I've kinda been experimenting around with what I could do with wind, one of which is solid wind streams."

"Cool."

They whizzed past apartments and more buildings and swung past a taco stand to quickly grab food as they rapidly passed by, promising to pay for it later, and parkouring off of obstacles that got in their way to get back onto the wind stream before finally stopping in front of Aeria's apartment and stepping off the solid wind stream to the sidewalk.

"This was fun." Lloyd told Aeria as she pushed her bangs out of her face.

"It was." She agreed before pulling the rose out from behind her ear and giving it to Lloyd who chuckled after he accepted it and told her,

"Y'know, on a typical date, it's me who's supposed to be giving you flowers."

"You already did earlier, plus I think we can both agree this wasn't really a 'typical date'." Aeria lightly smirked before leaning in toward Lloyd as he did the same, but just as their lips were about to meet, a voice from behind them called out,

"No smooching!" And they turned to see Morro leaning out the kitchen window.

"Moorrroo." Aeria whined before he went back inside and she apologized to Lloyd, "I better get going."

Giving him a quick peck on his cheek before hurrying inside, giving him one last wave as he stood there stunned at what just happened and he gave a small wave in return.

After Aeria went inside, Lloyd felt like practically skipping home when he bumped into his friends as they were all piled behind a lamppost totem-style.

"Were you guys following us?" He questioned suspiciously.

"Girl/Bro Code." They all chorused at once before Lloyd shook his head and smiled before Nya asked,

"Soooo which of these photos do you want to go in the frame." Pulling out four semi-large polaroids and handing them to Lloyd before she pulled out an "I survived the first date" photo frame.

Looking over the photos he saw one of when he was sand blinded and Aeria was dipping him to avoid a skated kick with the rose in her mouth, one of them sitting on the bench with their backs to the camera and the sunset visible in front of them, another of them taken from the ground looking up at the two of them flying and twirling in the air, and the last one was of Aeria kissing him and him standing there looking dumbfounded.

"Oh come on you guys saw that!" Lloyd exclaimed blushing crimson in embarrassment while waving the kiss photo around.

"Yes."

"Of course."

Everyone chorused again and Lloyd chuckled before saying,

"I think... I'll just keep them all."

Running off with the photos clutched to his chest before the others chased him laughing and lightly teasing him by making kissing sounds.

Unbeknownst to them, Aeria had watched them from her window with another purple rose in hand before she closed up her curtains and plopped down on her bed staring up at the ceiling as she thought about the date and fell asleep smiling.
