"Is that how you wanna die?"

The voice caught him off guard. His heart raced when a voice came out of nowhere, pulling him back into reality. Tyler turned around, nearly tripping over his own feet. Behind him stood the figure of a taller man. At the sight of him, the young adult frowned and adjusted his glasses.

"Oh." He huffed. "It's you again."

The man tilted his head, watching Tyler turn back around to do whatever he was doing. The man stepped closer, looking over his shoulder. He sat at a desk, papers everywhere, pens and pencils, and wrappers of chips bags and soda cans. The room was filthy. When he leaned in a little too close, Tyler swatted him away.

"Don't you have someone else to bother? There's a blonde dude down the road that could really use some company right now." He muttered.

The man frowned, adjusting his collar. He'd been watching the younger one for months, and though to normal eyes Tyler seemed like just another over stressed college kid, there was much more inside that no other stressed college kid had. It was why the demon was so attracted to him.

"Look, Onity, go away. Tomorrow I've got this massive stupid test and you just standing there bothers the living hell out of me." Tyler turned back again and glared at the man named Onity.

Onity felt a hole in his chest. He'd heard that phrase far too many times.

"You're a smart kid, nerd." Onity put his hand on his hip. "You don't need to study at all."

Tyler tensed up. In his head, he was dumb, and there was nothing in these notes that was clicking in his head. It panicked him too. With Onity's pressure, the kid was nearly in tears, but he was strong and stubborn and held them back.

Onity looked down at the floor, kicking his feet into the pile of papers. It was about time he should tell the kid the truth. But the demon really didn't want to. It was a dark truth, one that nobody as amazing as Tyler should ever have to come to. Onity had been watching Tyler for months. He found the younger one to be enjoyable, even if the feelings weren't returned.

"Hey, Nerd." Onity began.

"What the fuck do you want now?" Tyler grumbled.

"There sure are a lot of papers littering your room. You ever get up to look at them?" Onity said, looking around the bedroom. It was almost like a flood of papers had spilled into here.

"Oh don't overreact. I've seen other students have it worse." Tyler didn't look back.

"No, I mean-" Onity took a deep breath. "Seriously, look around yourself."

Tyler paused, placing his pencil down and turning In his chair to look at Onity. Onity frowned and then motioned around the room. Tyler finally gave in and looked around his room. The place was dark with dull lighting, but tons and tons of lined papers littered the floor. Hundreds of dollars worth of paper that Tyler knew for a fact that he didn't have.

"You see what I mean?" Onity asked.

"I d-don't understand." Tyler looked confused.

Onity kicked around some of the paper. "You wanna tell me how long you've been sitting at that desk studying for tomorrow's test?"

Tyler reached down and started looking through the papers, picking some up and throwing them back down. Onity watched in a painfully patient stance. He watched as Tyler began balling up the papers and looking around more frantically. He was finally seeing something he couldn't see before.

"T-These are all the same!" Tyler finally stopped, his voice hoarse. "There are hundreds of copies of the same damn notes i've been copying for that test!"

"So they are, huh?" Onity nodded his head.

"B-But how? I don't get it. W-What do you mean how long i've been studying?" Tyler asked, his face showing fear for once. A genuine fear that no college level test could ever give anybody. Onity could only describe this fear as a fear of questioning one's entire self. He's seen it on the faces of the humans who have fallen not to demons, but to themselves.

"How long do you think you've been in that chair studying?" Onity asked again.

"O-Only for a f-few hours. Dinner wasn't that long a-ago, was it?" Tyler answered honestly.

"That's what I thought..." Onity found that all the things he guessed about Tyler's situation were becoming true.

"What's going on?" Tyler asked.

Onity couldn't help but feel so out of place.

"What the hell are you doing to me? Are you fucking around with my life!? That's what demons do, isn't it?!" Tyler shouted.

Onity snapped back and looked at Tyler. "I'm not that kind of demon. Fucking with you isn't what i'm paid for."

"You sure get a kick out of it though don't ya!" Tyler wasn't having it. He was tried as hell and didn't have time for this bullshit prank.

"Look." Onity stepped forward. "My job with you is far more important then any other demon's job. Some spend their lives trying to get anti-social blonde highschoolers to commit suicide. Some spend their time making deals with poor unfortunate souls. But me, I'm here doing a job that the devil himself doesn't have time to deal with."

"You make yourself sound like a saint." Tyler barked. He was feeling drowsy.

"I'm the fucking demon of time!" Onity hissed back. "I'm here to fix the human history time line because it's gotten itself fucked up again!"

"Oh, so now you're a time traveler demon?" Tyler asked.

"Tyler, you've been studying for tomorrow's test for four months!" Onity's voice grew louder, and Tyler flinched when the demon used his real name.

"You've been writing those same notes down for four months straight. You had dinner four months ago. You haven't left this room for four months. You haven't slept or eaten or gone to take a piss for four fucking months."

Tyler didn't say anything. He looked around his room. Well, it'd explain the papers. He stepped back , his hand reaching back until he felt his bed. He sat down on the covers, suddenly realizing he hadn't sat down on a comfy place for awhile. His wooden desk chair hurt.

"It's all starting to catch up to you, huh?" Onity asked. "I've stood here watching you, waiting for this moment."

Tyler looked down, not quite sure what to think.

"Why is time fucked up?" Tyler asked after a silence.

"Because reality is trying to get rid of you." Onity answered. "She's trying to discard you."

Tyler felt a pain strike him. He didn't understand. But he was only human, so it was normal to not understand. The World Onity was from, it was apparently the afterlife, but yet it sounded so different then from what humans claim it is. Apparently reality is a "she", and the names of the rulers of heaven and hell are not Satan and God. Onity talked about a guy called Mephistopheles all the time though. Tyler shook his head and slid off the side of the bed. He sat in the sea of papers, bringing his knees to his chest.

"Why does she hate me?" Tyler asked.

Onity walked over and sat next to Tyler on the side of the bed.

"She doesn't hate you. She has no opinions over anybody. She's being forced to do it. Someone went back in time and messed up something, which means reality needs to realign herself with a fixed time line." Onity explained.

"Which basically means that whatever that person did, they erased you from this existence. I don't know if their actions caused you to never be born or for you to die early, but right now, you shouldn't exist."

Tyler was shaking. Onity hated to see him like this, because he really was a smart and awesome human.

"S-So what are you supposed to do? Kill me? Help Reality with her job?" Tyler asked.

"...They never really told me." Onity sighed.

"The fuck kind of bullshit is that?" Tyler looked up at Onity, clearing crying. He felt like the whole demon thing was a joke. "Most important job ever and you don't know what you're doing?"

"Look, uh, never mind." Onity shook his head. "Right now, you've been in a little pocket of air for four months. You're in a caged piece of time that's slowly disconnecting from reality. While you disconnect, the whole in history were you stood is being filled in with either someone else or nothing at all."

"So am I going to suffocate?"

"Once you disconnect from reality, the bubble pops and you become nothing. You disappear, all evidence of your existence disappears, and trust me kid, not even a demon would remember you. I won't remember you when your bubble pops." Onity's voice dropped to a whisper.

"I guess you're only really here to tell me goodbye then." Tyler shifted a bit, wrapping his arms around his legs. "Is that your job?"

Before Onity could answer, Tyler went on.

"You know, wouldn't it be less of a punishment to just let someone live on in their bubble, thinking they were still part of all of humanity, until they were gone. I mean, it's not like they'd ever realize it. In fact, you're why I know i'm fucking worth shit." His arms held himself a bit more tightly and more tears fell down his cheeks. "Did I do something that made Satan think that I deserved to know that not even my own mother would know I was ever a part of her life. Oh, maybe this boy should know that all he's ever worked for, all the achievements he's ever had, are all going to fucking burn along with him."

Those words stung at Onity. The demon tried to come up with things to battle that statement, but human minds were keen holders to emotion. Humans loved to twist things to their will, and emotion was their prime weapon. Tyler stood up all of a sudden and walked over to the desk, searching the wooden piece of furniture. The demon watched as he then turned to look around his bookcase.

"What are you doing?" Onity asked.

"Finding something I can kill myself with." Tyler said bluntly.

Onity's eyes widened.

"Why?"

Tyler reached into a drawer, fishing for something. Anything, really.

"What makes you think I want to suffer any longer? Okay, great, I'm going to fade into nonexistence. There won't be an inch of my, my name, or even my image in any mind scape ever. You won't even remember me. So what's the fucking point? Why wait?" Tyler asked.

Onity cleared his throat. He stood up off the side of the bed, and he slowly walked over to Tyler. Tyler watched, and was taken by surprise when the demon held out his hand.

"If you seek death, then follow me."

Tyler pulled his arm back out of the drawer and turned to stare at the demon. The room almost seemed to disappear around them, and the sickness in Tyler's stomach grew. The demon's hand was surrounded in a light purple flame. Tyler looked at the demon's eyes to find they were both a beautiful glowing neon purple, when normally only one was. Tyler felt himself drawn to the extended hand.

"If you seek death-"

Onity snapped his figures, and the flame grew. Tyler felt images flash before his eyes. The coldness around him begin to flood in, and yet the warmth of Onity's flame still lingered. It still gave him life.

"-then follow me."

Tyler didn't have a reason to care any longer. He reached out his hand and placed it on top of Onity's, taking whatever offer was on the table. Suddenly, without warning, Tyler felt himself being pulled forward, into Onity's arms. Tyler felt warmer then before, standing in front of the flames. Tyler pulled back a bit and looked up at Onity.

"What are you doing?" He asked.

"I'm making a deal with the devil."

Tyler suddenly felt himself grow light. He glanced down and realized the floor around him, the room, it was all fading away. His feet and legs were becoming transparent. He began to panic, but yet still the demon held onto him.

"O-Onity, T-This is it, isn't it?" The nerd shook violently. "I'm disappearing. F-Fuck, i'm n-not ready!"

"Shhh, Tyler."

Tyler looked back up Onity, tears falling down his face again, far quicker this time.

"Onity! I don't wanna die! I don't wanna become nothing! I want to be remembered! I-I'm going to miss so much! A-And I'm going t-to miss you! A-Ah fuck! I can't feel my legs. I feel like i'm falling."

The boy wasn't just in tears, he was legit crying. His voice was a wreck and he had problems keeping snot in his nose. Humans really were weak, weren't they? Onity's grip on his hands tighten, and It was at this point Tyler realized he couldn't feel pain.

"You're going to be okay." Onity leaned down. "Calm down. For me. Please?"

Tyler's whole body shook. He had no strength to really do much. The demon leaned down, and with their hands tangled together, the demon placed a kiss upon the humans' forehead. The human breathed in and out, and Onity realized that his hands were disappearing.

"Y-You're a f-fuck face for l-leaving me like that." Tyler coughed out.

Things kinda just went blurry for Tyler, and then black. And then there was nothing. The demon was alone, and the bubble was gone. The demon was left in a black void, a light in the distance. The light was Reality, and the demon realized just how far from reality the boy had been. He shook his head. He had a deal with the devil to check up on.

-...-

Onity watched as the younger adult groaned, twisting and turning in his large red bed. He gave off a loud sigh, and funny enough, it earned a bright red pillow hitting him square in the face.

"You're awake!" Onity smiled, jumping right back up to look over the bed.

"Your voice annoys me." Was all he got in reply.

"You gave me a fucking scare, i'm going to fucking annoy you all I want." Onity huffed.

The younger one huffed and sat up, glaring at Onity. He looked dead tired, his brown hair a mess. But damn, Onity couldn't help he still looked just as good shirtless waking up as he did any other time.

"I don't understand."

Onity yawned, stretching his arms and laying on the side of the bed. The other one had a very tough time not pushing him off the side.

"Well, mister Devil, since you asked so kindly. You aren't supposed to be here, but sweetheart demons are very powerful creatures that you don't mess with." Onity said.

"Mister Devil?" The shorter one looked confused. "Why can't I remember anything from yesterday?"

"It's a really long story, nerd, but now you're my boss." Onity said.

The other one, Tyler, paused, looking highly confused. But then something clicked in his head. Onity smirked when he noticed the light go off in his head.

"I wasn't gonna have my favorite person in all of existence die now was I? So I made a deal with the devil. He gets a vacation lasting 100,000 years and you get to hold his place while he's gone." Onity said proudly.

"W-Wait what!?" Tyler jumped.

"Congrats, you died and became the king of Hell." Onity laughed.

"What happens after those 100,000 years!? Aren't I supposed to be erased from all existence everywhere!? How'd you fucking do that!?"

"Magic. Also the Devil already liked me and he can afford to pull a few strings. It was a tough deal really." Onity answered.

"Shouldn't I be in a bubble then?" Tyler asked.

Onity shrugged. "Reality and the realm of Hell are kinda on different levels. You technically shouldn't be here either, but like whose gonna complain really?"

"I AM!" Tyler shouted.

"Whoa Whoa clam down kid. Just think of it this way. You're the king of Hell now, you're my boss, what you say goes for the next 100,000 years." Onity then winked. "And I'm technically your bitch now."

Tyler's face turned red and he slid back down into the covers of the bed.

"You are the literal worst."

"Good, because I really felt uncomfortable being serious for once."
