When Science goes to Far (modern Levihan)

"Why the fuck did your students lock us into the closet, Shitty Glasses?" Levi growled out, even more pissed off than usual due to the fact he didn't get his morning tea. Hanji just grinned at him, at least he thought so- it was too dark to see clearly. He knew that if he got out of that wretched closet while school was in session, he'd become a mass murderer.

"Happy thoughts, Shorty. No one's gonna get murdered." Hanji said, her cheerfulness make Levi send her an eviler death glare. She nudged him, "Besides we could bond over this."

He groaned, Levi didn't need to deal with her shit currently. He had to deal with her shit ever since their mutual friend Petra- she currently worked as an art teacher at the same school Hanji was a science teacher- introduced them when they were all in college, because she thought they'd get along splendidly. In this moment, he silently cursed Petra for introducing them and Levi was also cursing practically everyone who could be blamed for this situation.

"Uh, you do realize that China could probably hear you." she told him, making Levi curse even louder. "If my mother was here, she'd be scrubbing your face in the dirt."

Levi leaned his head back, trying not to listen to his impulse to kill Hanji. As he watched the minutes tick by on his watch, Hanji chattered on about more and more random things. He was just about to strangle her, when there was a knock on the closet door.

"So how cozy are the two of you?" Erwin, the principal, asked. His voice was full of laughter, and Levi could pick up on at least three other laughs. Levi growled again, ready to rip Erwin apart. He wouldn't be surprised if Erwin somehow helped get him into this mess, and if Erwin did, he was a dead man.

"I'm pretty sure Levi wants to kill everyone, but other than that, we're chill." Hanji told Erwin, her voice still cheerful. "How are my Sonny and Bean?"

This time Levi groaned. Of course she would think about asking about her pet cows, and not seeing if Erwin could get them out. Although, Levi couldn't fathom why the hell she had two pet cows that resided in the school. Levi could pick up on Erwin's sigh, probably agreeing with him about Hanji's weird attachment to her cows.

    "Jeanmarco is looking after them."

"-" Levi opened his mouth to speak, wanting to know who Jeanmarco was, when Hanji cut him off.

"Aren't they the cutest couple ever!" she exclaimed loudly. Levi elbowed her, trying to get her to quiet down because he valued his hearing. "Levi that's rude. Erwin, can you get them to come here?"

Her question was met by an affirmative grunt and the sound of steps fading away. Two chattering voices soon replaced the silence. Levi couldn't hear what they were saying exactly, but he could pick up on someone chiding a Jean for some stupid decision. He briefly wondered what the decision was, but moved his thoughts to coming up with a plan to get out of the closet.

"Principal Smith said that you wanted us Ms. Hanji. What for?" a polite voice asked. Levi identified it as the voice that was chiding this Jean person.

"If it's about Sonny and Bean, they're fine." a second voice added, sounding like they were smirking. "You don't have to worry about them, Marco's got it covered."

"Jean!" Marco, the polite voice, exclaimed. His voice held protest against being the person to care for the cows, and Levi didn't blame him.

"Can you brats let us out?" Levi spit out, not wanting anyone to get sidetracked from the matter at hand- escaping the closet.

There was a small scuffle outside the door. One of the two boys, Levi was sure it was Marco, let out a yelp. It was silent for a moment, before a whispered conversation broke out. Finally, Jean spoke. "Sorry, but no can do."

"What do you mean?!" Levi growled out at the same time Hanji exclaimed it.

"You see," Jean began. "I went through the trouble, with some help, to get the two of you into that closet. No one who helped get you two in, will be happy if you get out early."

"You guys have to talk about your feelings-" Marco's sentence was abruptly cut off. A muffled groan came from the other side of the closet. Levi was pretty sure he heard Jean mutter something about not spoiling, when Hanji broke the silence.

"What about our feelings?" she asked. Her answer was the sound of two people walking away. Technically, one person walking and the other seemed to be partially dragged off. If Levi had to bet on who was who, he'd bet that Marco was getting dragged because Jean seemed keen on keeping something quiet.

    "You're students are shit."

"I guess so." Hanji said, "Normally, they don't do stuff like this."

Levi sighed at the stupidity of her sentence. "How long do you think they're gonna leave us in here?"

"Until we cover the topic of our feelings about something." Hanji said. "I wonder what they mean."

He didn't respond because he was too busy thinking about murdering all the people who got them in here. Levi's murderous thoughts became so time consuming that by the time he perfected his murder plot, it was late at night, and Hanji's head was drooping against his shoulder.

"Hanji?" he asked. She didn't respond, but nestled into his shoulder some more, mumbling something about science. Levi sighed and rested his head against hers. He intertwined their hands, smiling softly. Even if they were no where closer to getting out of the closet, he felt strangely okay with it. Stranger still, he was happy to be stuck with Hanji.

His last coherent thought, before sleep claimed him, was that maybe this was how it should be.
