Zeus and Hera
A long time ago there were three brothers that have defeated their evil father who have abused them. They captivated him inside a cage that he could never escape from. This cage was referred to as tartarus, a very deep and dark place inside the hell. This tale starts from the very beginning of time. There were people all around who worship the three brothers and the world has known them to be the core Foundation of Immortal beings, they were gods.
With ambrosia nectar in their veins, they were born invincible.
The eldest was known as Hades, the god of underworld a place so deep inside the earth that no light can reach there. And how Ironic it was that he was the representation of death but not only the light but the goddess that was filled with mirth and joy was his counterpart. It was said that when Hades met Persephone flowers bloomed in the deepest and the darkest parts of Hell, inside the bones of the Dead souls.
There were dead bodies around and even then Rose blossom creeping as a vine full of twists and turns on it was shining. The journey of Hades and persephone was said to be extremely difficult and yet it was the most beautiful one as well.
A mortal Werewolf was bestowed to he god of Underworld by destiny and fate. Underworld rejoiced and hell breathed a sigh of relief as she was much more kind and benevolent then her dark husband.
Many people in the world have different weakness. All the beings are fragile in their own way yet some appear to be cruel to the outside world yet they are soft from the bottom of the heart. Hades was one of then and to conquer his heart Persephone was born, his weakness and his strength.
The Second Son of the Evil father was Poseidon, the god of sea and ocean. He was known to be violent and there was so much rage inside his heart there were earthquakes and maelstroms at his name. When Poseidon wrecked havoc none of the people were said to be safe. His goddess wife was called Amphitrite, the ruler of seas alongside him. Although Poseidon is considered one of the most important deities in the modern world pales in comparison to his brothers.
The third brother was Zeus, the King of Gods and the very protector of their fate. His consort Hera was known to be the oldest Goddesses which one of the most beautiful and alluring figure of all the time. Zeus tricked Hera by transforming into a bird and made her his wife. As the time have passed the King of Gods that can wield lightning and thunder in his hands has fathered countless children with other women then his wife.
Although the same can be said for Poseidon but Zeus has clearly surpassed it by numbers.
Hebe was reading a book about her uncle Hades and aunt Persephone. She read the book written by mortals again and again and was unable to determine how the relationship of her parents was so different from her uncle and aunt.
Hebe was the youngest child of Hera and Zeus. She never found her parents to be in harmony they were almost fighting most of the time even when without getting into an outraged discussion they were so indifferent to each other that it was very difficult to not see the invisible wall between them.
Although Zeus was a very handsome man but by each passing day Hera was only able to see a heart which did not had her in it.
Zeus and Hera were having a discussion in the main hall about the upcoming events of the world when Hebe walked silently until she was in front of her true parents. The couple discussing the matter was astonished that the child had for once taken an initiative to come to them without any cries and throwing a tantrum.
" Mother father, Ares got a book for me when he was in Athens some days ago and it thoroughly describes uncle and aunt and you two. Why does the mortals always describe and convey their relationship as all flowers and love. In all the pictures I have seen they are mostly kissing each other, sometimes uncle Hades is embracing the aunt.
The last time Ares went to Athens and brought a painting of you and mother why was it so.........different from this?"
Hebe was still a child and thus was completely unable to understand the twists and turns of life. It had already been 400 years since Persephone and Hades married but their relationship was almost still the same.
And here they were discussing the running of the world as if they did not had life of their own at all.
Zeus rubbed his head a bit, his face gone blank for a moment, golden hair locks falling onto his forehead glistening with sweat before he saw Hera getting up silently and giving a smile to Hebe. It has been a long time since she smiled at him like that.
When Zeus pondered hard, it has almost been years since she never smiled at him and he couldn't help but observe Hera for a moment without breathing.
Honeyed hair falling into lock and curls till her hip, soft tendrils were covering her forehead as she moved, her clothes were comprising of a pale blue dress decorated with flower pattern and before he could say anything, Hera and Hebe were walking hand in hand outside the hall. Zeus was silent for sometime now before his throat constricted as he came to realize something.
Blue.....Hera was wearing Blue.
Once when they were yet to be married, Hera was given a pale blue broach by Poseidon consisting of emeralds and the most precious stones ever found in the sea and yet Hera refused to wear it ever.....she had told Zeus at that time 'I hate blue, it is such a melancholic colour'.
In this world where nothing was constant, it is absurd to take things as they were, the constellations change every year and so did the heart of person. The very nature of the universe is change and conversion, out of everything that is wanted and wished some are blessings while others are a curse.
What was cherished might be discarded.
What was true might be false someday
What has been seen might be fabricated
And what was loved might be hated.
Zeus shook his head a lazy smile covering his features as if thinking from where did these nonsensical thoughts came to him but the bright shine in those cyan irises dimmed a bit when he realized, with each passing day, the woman he had married has changed and now she almost was too prefectuary.
She only said things that were meant to be said, only talked about the mortal realm or sometimes about the gods....when has she last asked him about something concerning her or their children. If it was Ares she talked with him many days concerning his war tendencies and the mother son pair laughed and discussed behind closed doors.
When it concerned the upbringing of Hebe, she took her to mortal realm and sometimes to Hades's palace and to Poseidon for enjoying their leisure time together. It has been years since they have been together in the throne room of Olympus just spending time as a family.
What was truly going in her mind, Zeus pondered.
Hera's hand was tugged down by Hebe who looked as if she wished to say something yet was unable to.
"What is it Hebe?" The golden woman with skin translucent and glowing asked her daughter and the reply shattered her heart.
"Why do you live with him mother? Why do you choose to cry for him every single day when he clearly does not pays attention to any of us."
The tears that were hidden came out as a glossy exterior. She was the goddess of marriage and for all these years she maintained fidelity. Never once disrespecting him, she remained eternally faithful. If she could do so then why can not he?
The answer was too painful yet so true that Hera closed the door of her room and bent down to Hebe's level and when those blue eyes of an innocent child met hers, sobs broke free from her chest.
For Zeus she was not worth trying.
For him she was just a woman he could return every single day after sleeping with other woman and she as a revengeful queen without any true abilities infront of all these goddesses she only could give terrible life to his affairs and the woman he courted.
Was that correct? tears after tears flowed as waterfalls down her eyes as Hebe comforted her mother, rubbing her back.
To hurt somebody on behalf of others, this was tyranny. Since when had she become so cruel to hurt the woman Zeus slept with but not even complain to him.....she had become weak, so damn terrible that she could not even see her reflection without feeling disgust.
Where had all those promises that they made disappeared to, she had always tried to make this marriage work no matter what happens, she had once loved Zeus too much to leave and abandon him. She had so many duties to do and yet when she though about all those she could not help but wonder where has the true Hera disappeared to.
She had once been a protector of the females and they worshipped her as their deity but now....they were even terrified of her name. They though that she was some revengeful, cruel person who would hurt anyone coming closer to her.....like a caged beast.
She truly was a caged bird in this golden palace of Olympus, there was luxury, wealth, food and ambrosia but where was respect and love. Where was happiness that she wished for. There was a golden chain binding herself and her freedom.
This was truly a place that she was married to, she loved it once...decorated every single corner of it liker her own home but now she despised this very place. The walls seemed to scream and cry at nights, she usually woke up with the anguish she had havocked on Zeus's lovers.
Maybe she truly has become this, a cruel woman with no conscience. As the tears continued, the sobs were turned into hiccups as Hebe clutched her mother and her own eyes leaked.
She saw her mother everyday and with such a father, he made her nothing but miserable and bitter. Ares too when talked to Hebe always said that their father did not deserved mother so wwhy was she bound to him always.....did she not trusted her abilities.
She was the Queen of Gods but still there was a seed of suspicion in her heart which continued to saw herself as someone who had no value and self worth.
Hera broke down bit by bit and the pale blue dress she had never wore in her life, became the very witness of her chaotic destruction.
"Hebe please be out, I will see you at night." Hebe did not wished to go and only after she saw there was so much pain in her mother's eyes did she relent.
'Hera, the mighty Queen filled with hopes and wishes all the world shall bow down at your feet. The true and sole Empress of Olympus, River Styx is the witness that your reign might never end and every mortal and immortal shall bow down to you.
Hail Queen of Gods!
Establishing the Empress.'
"NO! NO! its enough ENOUGH!" The small cries were transformed into the screams of helplessness as she felt her heart being stomped on and shattering as crystal glass that she picked up thousands of time and put them again together, no matter it got embedded into her hands till she bleed red crimson drop by drop. Her heart was bleeding and at the moment a cry so despairful broke free from her throat that even the entire Olympus drowned in agony.
She felt Zeus everytime he had sex with another, the bond told her, sang a tune of betrayal and hurt. Those terrible wounds of her heart....where she would go and to whom she shall show, because a queen is always strong.
It was as if somebody was carving her skin out of a dagger and the love she had for Zeus.....she hated him, so much pain......so much devastation, he had finally achieved his goal and today he had ruined her till nothing was left but an empty person whose eyes only can cry desperate tears.
This was the first time Hera had her heart harden and she decided, no matter what it takes, she would end this life, everyday was equivalent to thousand deaths and every second was a torture. Right now the only thing she wanted was liberation.
She clutched her mouth and cry when Zeus closed the bond as if sensing her cries...did he think she was faking her emotions.
Cruel
She wanted to escape this, her life has been long enough.
