Dad's Little Toy (Todoroki Family)

"Alright Dabi, start talking."

Shota Aizawa stood with his arms crossed, staring straight at their prisoner, who was chained to the wall, sitting in a cross legged position.

The villain's name was Dabi. Nobody knew what his real name was. That didn't matter to the heroes.

Real namw or not, Dabi was the name he chose to go by. That was that. The heroes didn't care what his real name was.

They didn't care what it could possibly mean.

"Don't bother trying to use your quirk. I've erased, it, and the chains and wall are fireproof. We made sure of it." Aizawa stated, leaning back against the wall.

"What made you think I was going to use it?" Dabi asked, before laughing, "Whatever, I don't have to say anything."

Aizawa kicked him in the side. He didn't even flinch.

"Seems like your already used to pain. Good. That means you won't mind too much when Endeavor comes-"

Dabi looked up at the mention of the flame hero's name.

"Don't you EVER mention that name in my presence again. That bastard is lucky he got away from me with his life the first time!"

Of course they knew Dabi had beef against Endeavor. The first time they got a good look at him, was when he attempted to burn the Todoroki Family house down. His main focus had been Endeavor.

Thank God Shoto Todoroki, the youngest of the family, had been home at the time. Thanks to his ice, him and his siblings had made it out unscathed.

"We don't care too much that Endeavor was targeted, he would've made it out just fine. We know that. What we're concerned about, is how if Shoto Todoroki hadn't been home at the time, his older siblings, Natsuo and Fuyumi, wouldn't have made it out unscathed like they did," Aizawa narrowed his eyes as the villain tensed, "problems with one hero doesn't give you the right to attempt to murder the entire family."

They did care that Enji had been attacked, and Dabi would still face those charges, but the heroes knew Endeavor wouldn't have died.

Dabi's reaction was anything but expected. He looked down, and if Aizawa had been paying attention, he would've noticed just a few teardrops landing on the ground.

He felt... guilty?

Aizawa's cellphone started ringing.

"What do you want Mic?" He demanded, "I'm busy."

Dabi couldn't hear what Hizashi Yamada, or Present Mic, had said on the other side, but it must have been bad. Aizawa pinched the bridge of his knows.

"Bakugo and Todoroki were fighting AGAIN?"

Dabi tensed up again.

"Fine, I'm coming." Aizawa sighed, before looking down.

"Lucky you," he looked away from Dabi, "I have to deal with my idiot students. I'll be back tomorrow, have fun in this cell."

And with that, he turned to leave.

"Shoto. He's the Todoroki in your class, isn't he?" Dabi asked.

"Yes. How is this relevant?" Aizawa demanded, pausing at the doorway.

"I want to talk to him."

"He's a student, not a pro, and you have no right to make demands-"

"Let me speak with Shoto. I don't care when, I don't care how. I want to speak with him..."

Aizawa hesitated.

"...please."

Please? Well that was strange. Villains don't say please.

"Only if he agrees to it."

And then Aizawa left.

That afternoon, Shoto Todoroki entered the temporary household that had been provided, only to walk in another argument.

He was getting tired of this, but just sighed as he dropped his bag on the ground. Fuyumi noticed him.

"Oh, Shoto! Welcome home!"

"...thanks..." was all he replied with.

"Geez man, don't give us the cold shoulder!" Natsuo laughed at his own joke, before feeling something cold on his shoulder.

Shoto stated straight faced at him, as a tiny patch of ice formed on his older brother's shoulder. Fuyumi couldn't help but laugh.

"Okay okay, geez!" Natsuo laughed too, and Shoto cracked a small smile.

"We're planning on visiting Mom today, wanna come?" Fuyumi asked, and his smile disappeared.

"I can't," he replied monotonely, "I'm busy tonight."

"Oh? Doing w-" Fuyumi was cut off by the door slamming open.

"SHOTO!"

Shoto just sighed at his father's yell.

Enji Todoroki entered the room, slamming the door open.

"YOU AGREED TO THAT?!" He yelled, glaring at the youngest.

"Yes. I didn't see a good reason not to." Shoto replied, undoing his tye.

"What are you talking about?" Fuyumi questioned.

"Yeah, what's got your tits twisted?" Natsuo demanded.

"...Aizawa~sensei told me that the villain they captured wants to speak with me. I agreed," Shoto explained. Both his siblings had the same reaction.

"You WHAT?!" They both yelled in sync.

"Why would you do that?!" Fuyumi exclaimed, covering her mouth in shock.

"Bro, I know your a bit of a risk-taker, but that guy could probably kill you if he wanted!" Natsuo exclaimed, standing up.

"I doubt he would attempt to kill me if he wanted to talk, and Aizawa promised to keep an eye on him to prevent him from using his quirk." Shoto replied, but that wasn't the full truth.

Enji continued to lecture Shoto on the danger, but Shoto didn't listen.

That night, Aizawa stood outside the room, watching through the window.

Shoto was sitting across from Dabi, with his legs crossed. Dabi looked down, avoiding eye contact. With his legs crossed.

They sat there as an awkward silence settled.

"Whatever you wanted to say, spit it out." Shoto growled finally.

Then Dabi let out a laugh, an almost broken one.

"You've certainly changed. Or maybe not, I wouldn't know. I never got to talk to you," a twisted smile broke Dabi's blank expression, "after all, you are Dad's little toy."

Shoto tensed up at this.

"I'm sorry, I don't know what your talking about, and I don't believe we've met on other terms."

"Oh? So you don't recognize me, hah, why would you? These scars and all..."

Something clicked in Shoto's mind. A memory to when he was little.

And oldest brother, one with red hair is a spiked mess, and blue eyes. His quirk had been blue flames...

But he had to be sure.

There was a game he remembered playing... 20 Questions, a game he played with his siblings whenever he had been able too.

"20 Questions." Shoto said. Dabi leaned against the wall.

"Shoot."

"My Mom's name?"

"Rei."

"My dad's?"

"Endeavor."

"Real name."

"Enji."

"Living oldest sibling?"

"Your sister Fuyumi."

"Other sibling?"

"Natsuo, your older brother."

"Real oldest sibling."

"Toya, presumed dead."

Shoto was running out of questions. He decides to just go for it.

"How did I get my scar?"

"Really? You're asking ME that?" Dabi smirked a bit, "How are you expecting me to know?"

"Just answer the question." Shoto ordered.

Dabi's smirk faded. "Your mother gave it too you. Enji's abuse affected her mental health and she accidently took it out on your left side, by pouring boiling hot water on your face."

Shoto stood abruptly. "We're done here."

"Aww already? Do you recognize me now?" Dabi asked.

"Whether I recognize you or not, it doesn't change the fact that you're a villain, and I'm training to be a hero. I don't need to be tainted by you."

And with that, Shoto left.

"Well?" Aizawa asked.

Shoto felt tears prick in the corner of his eyes.

He couldn't go home, not like this.

"Tell my father I won't be home tonight. I'm going to visit mom, and see if I can stay the night there." Shoto said.

"And if you can't?" Aizawa raised an eyebrow.

"I'll stop at a friend's place and ask."

Aizawa nodded, and they left.

"Shoto! What a nice surprise, first your siblings, and now you!" Rei Todoroki smiled, but Shoto didn't.

"Is everything okay?" Rei asked, frowning at her son's mood.

"...no..."

Shoto's voice came out as barely a whisper, as he sat down across from his mother. He couldn't stop the tears from flowing anymore.

There he was, a grown man, crying in a mental hospital room with his mother. Rei quickly moved next to him, and hugged her son in an attempt to comfort him.

"Shoto... what happened?" She asked gently, not expecting his answer.

"You remember... you saw on the news, that a member of the League was captured, Dabi." The name felt foreign coming out of his mouth. Rei nodded.

"He wanted to speak with me, and I agreed, and..." he trailed off, starting to cry again.

Rei didn't scold him for speaking to the villain. She didn't lecture him for doing something a hero would do.

"He's Toya..."

That made her freeze.

"What do you mean he's Toya? Toya..." Rei trailed off, seeing complete seriousness in her son's eyes.

"He knew everything, I questioned him about us, our family, he... he even knew about my scar..."

"He's alive..." Rei murmured.

"But he's a villain..." Shoto muttered.

After speaking with the hospital staff and calling Fuyumi, Shoto was able to stay the night with his mother.

The next morning he went home, to be greeted with a slap to the face from none other then Endeavor.

"First, you agree to speak with that wretched villain, then, I find out you've been visiting that bitch?" Enji's low growl came.

Fuyumi and Natsuo had entered the room just in time to see Shoto get hit. Natsuo was marching angrily towards their father, but Shoto was faster.

The peppermint haired teen swiftly returned hid father's slap with one if his own.

"Don't speak about either of them that way." He hissed, "You have no right after what you've done."

"Shoto?" Natsuo questioned.

"Are you..." Fuyumi trailed off.

"Defending a villain?!" Enji roared, his hand came down again. Shoto caught it, and slapped it away.

"I don't care if he's a villain, I don't care if I may have to fight him one day, and I don't care what you think of me." Shoto was seething, he had finally snapped on his father. "NEVER speak of my mother, or him, that way. Because both of their states are YOUR fault, and if I was even a bit willing to forgive you before, I certainly am not now."

"Shoto, what are you talking about?" Fuyumi asked, running over to him, "I know what you mean about Mom, but the villain-"

Shoto turned on her, "THAT VILLAIN IS TOYA!" He shouted, crying again, "THAT VILLAIN IS OUR OLDER BROTHER, AND IT'S HIS GODDAMN FAULT THAT HE'S LIKE THIS!"

Fuyumi stumbled back, and Natsuo caught her.

Shoto stormed up to his room, and started to get ready for class that day.

Natsuo knocked on his youngest brother's door.

"Who is it, and what do you want?" Shoto demanded coldly from the other side.

"Hey Sho, it's me. Can I come in?" Natsuo asked.

"Yeah."

Natsuo opened the door, to find Shoto laying on his bed, turned away. On the ground, was a tiny pile of ashes, and a patch of ice.

"Hey, are you okay?" Natsuo asked, walking over and sitting next to him.

"No."

"Hey... look, I don't care at all if you yell at our bastard of an old man, but yelling at Fuyumi? That's not cool."

"I know that."

"Then why'd you do it?"

"I lost my temper."

"That's it?"

"Well how would you feel if you discovered your oldest brother was a villain because of your dad, and then came home after staying the night with your mom, only to be slapped by the same father who caused your brother to be a villain, be scolded by him for speaking with said villain, and for staying the night with your mother?" Shoto glared slightly at him.

"I'd be angrier." Natsuo admitted, "With that explanation, I almost think you underreacted. But I get it, your not an angry person. You don't take your anger out in the same ways as others."

Shoto sat up, "I should change and head off to school... and apologize..."

Natsuo nodded, and left, leaving Shoto to sort himself out.
