ONCE A LOVED ONE

she cries, her voice stuck in her throat as she stands under the heavy rain, in front of him. her hands grasp the sides of her dress, now sticking to her skin but she doesn't mind because all her mind can think and apprehend is just him. his presence. how he is just standing in front of her after all that happened. he doesn't dare take a step near her. she knows why he won't. but she still wants to be held, be comforted, wrapped in warmth by her sister, but her sister isn't there.

"do you even know what has happened!" she shouts, voice cracking near the end and it terrifies her more. she takes the risk and starts walking towards him, anger burning in her black glistening eyes. she pushes him, noticing how he doesn't stop her.

things weren't supposed to end like that. he was not supposed to let her sister die like that, lying in between the road, blood pooling around her as rain started pouring. it has been three days but she cannot comprehend why did he leave her sister. they loved each other so why did he leave her when he was the only one who could've saved her.

"why?! why did you leave her!?" she cries, more tears rolling down, mixing with the rain drops, she drops on her knees, sobbing, "only you were there! so why did you leave her! she could've been alive!"

she feels anger and fury coursing through her veins, her body trembling and burning up from all the shouting and crying. she knows nothing can happen because this morning they had received the news that her sister had died.

but, if only,

if only he could've not left her there helpless, maybe,

maybe she would've been alive.

"i hate you! so much! you killed her!" she pulls at her hair, burying down in her legs, screaming, "because of you, my sister died!"

and the man stood there, guilty and ashamed of himself, for not saving the love of his life. for chickening out and leaving her as soon as the truck hit her and she feel on the ground. he knows for sure, he is going to live his life with this guilt.
