•Whumpvember- Day 3: Insomnia(Mostly Oumasai)•

This one's a bit short... and too fluffy I COULDNT STOP MYSELF OKAY and not really "whump" but I couldn't help myself... these two need a happy ending

its Danganronpa again btw

and Oumasai

with a little bit of Oumami...?

Maybe it's Saioumami again

I think I like that ship too much haha

Fun fact about myself: I used to have insomnia when I was a lot younger... around 4-5th grade. I don't know why, but I just couldn't get myself to sleep
properly, staying up until 1 or 2am almost every day since I couldn't sleep. I recall looking up tips to help me sleep and a lot of other things but most of them I was already doing, like not using electronics an hour beforehand and stuff.

"Hey~!.." Kokichi said kind of awkwardly as he entered the dining room like usual. It was the day after Kaede's execution. It had impacted everyone, of course, but Kokichi wasn't so much concerned about Kaede as he was concerned about the victim: Rantaro Amami.

"Oh, hey, Kokichi." Shuichi managed a smile at the supreme leader as he sat down. Everyone was chatting casually, but the manner seemed a bit forced. Kokichi figured that it was probably because of what had happened the previous day.

He noticed there was already food from Kirumi prepared and started to eat. "Wow, this is good," he said in a muffled tone. Kokichi tried his best to say it with more excitement, but he couldn't get his mouth to put any proper tone in the words, and it came out in a weird sarcastic tone instead.

It was because he didn't sleep at all last night. Kokichi didn't reveal this, but he had severe insomnia and could never sleep without medication. The entire night, he remembered just staring up at the ceiling, wondering... Why me? But in a killing game, Kokichi could probably barely sleep even with medication. But luckily for him, he had something better then medication.

He had Rantaro. For the first few days of this living hell that Monokuma created, Rantaro offered to sleep with Kokichi during the night. Sure, the idea sounded awkward, but Kokichi appreciated it more then anything else. He had never met anyone that kind. Someone willing to accept how he was. Rantaro was an amazing person to Kokichi, someone irreplaceable.

"Besides, that way we're less likely to die." Rantaro had told him.

Liar.

Rantaro was dead now, no... killed, by one of the students here. It was then when Kokichi realized how quickly someone can go in a place like this. Now he really was alone. There was some people that he had a friendship with, like Shuichi. But he couldn't trust anyone here in all honesty. Kokichi didn't even know these people!

Everyone else continued to chat about random things. Kokichi was sick of it. It was quite obvious that it was forced conversation and people were just trying to pretend the deaths yesterday haven't happened. After making a comment about it, everyone turned to him in surprise as he said, "I don't think any of you all would like to be killed, am I right?"

"K-Kokichi, how you say that..?" Gonta's eyes widened in the small boy's direction.

Kokichi hesitated. He took a bit longer then he should've to think of a good enough comeback, but his mind felt really foggy due to his lack of sleep. The supreme leader suddenly felt the urge to yawn, but he quickly repressed it back down as he said, "Oh? So the 'K' word has been banned? Surprising, since this is a killing game."

"Are you just forgetting what happened yesterday? Don't say things like that!" Tenko exclaimed.

"Yeah, I hate it when you act all ominous like that!" Kaito agreed.

Before anyone could say anything else, Monokuma came. Kokichi tried not to let out a large groan seeing the monochrome bear. "Upupupu! What's happening here!"

"These guys are all bullying me! I hate it!" Kokichi complained. I need to get on Monokuma's side for this to work...

"Bullying? No bullying! Bullying is not good!" Monokuma said in surprise. "Personally, I find it the parents fault, they-"

"Okay! We fuckin' get it, but why'd you come here?" Miu said in exasperation.

"Oh, right!!" Monokuma exclaimed. He started to explain how he gave special presents and how a new floor unlocked after every class trial. After giving everyone the small trinkets that would help them later, he told everyone to get exploring as he left.

Many of the students had started to walk out of the room by that point. Kokichi's body was running on autopilot, and his eyes hurt like hell, so he didn't even realize when the only people left in the room were him and Shuichi.

Shuichi observed Kokichi for a few seconds, noticing that he didn't seem to be saying anything even though they were the only two in the room. The detective was aware of the fact that Kokichi tended to act a bit differently and talk to him more then anyone else. It was quite surprising to watch him just eat in silence, not saying a word.

"Hey... Kokichi, are you okay?" Shuichi asked softly.

"H-Huh??" Kokichi's eyes suddenly perked up in Shuichi's direction. "I'm fine!" He sounded like he was trying to convince himself more then Shuichi.

"A-Are you sure? You don't look so good..." Shuichi trailed off. He wasn't the best at giving others emotional support, let alone any support at all. He tended to be an independent person, not seeing the needs for others helping him or vice versa. But as Shuichi looked at Kokichi's poor condition, he wondered why he never wanted to help anyone.

As Kokichi finished his food and threw it away, he started to leave the room. "No. You're not leaving just yet." Shuichi grabbed his hand as he said the words in a very forceful manner.

"Nishishi... whaddya think you're trying to do, Mr. Detective?" Kokichi teased, but he looked so tired, it didn't even come out properly and sounded so monotone Shuichi couldn't even tell it was supposed to be a question.

"Kokichi..." Shuichi couldn't understand it. Why did he want to protect him? "Just, follow me." He gripped the smaller boy's hand tightly as the two walked to Shuichi's bedroom.

Once the two were together in Shuichi's bedroom, Shuichi asked him again. "What happened?"

"N-Nothing, I swear!" Kokichi said, looking a bit nervous as he stared into Shuichi's golden eyes.

"Please... I want to help you, Kokichi. Don't you understand?" Shuichi tried saying it a bit softer, but still loud enough for the other boy to hear.

"No, Shuichi! I don't want any help!" Kokichi stepped away from the dark-haired detective and speed-walked to the door, only to feel the detective's hand grip his once more. "Stop!" His voice stained, and before Kokichi knew it, tears had formed in his eyes. Fuck... not how I wanted this to go.

"Kokichi, I'm just trying to help! You can't just be alone all the time..." Shuichi exclaimed, trying not be mad but he couldn't help it. How could someone be so stubborn?

"I...I don't need... any help," Kokichi muttered quietly.

"Huh?"

"I said I don't need any help, god damn it!" Kokichi quickly snapped his hand away from Shuichi's firm grip, the two looking at each other, Kokichi in anger, and Shuichi in concern. Tears in Kokichi's eyes continued to well up and fall. That was when Shuichi realized how much of a mess the other boy was. His eyes were completely dark under them, and Kokichi's bags were clearly visible when you could see him properly.

"Kokichi... stop lying to yourself. You're definitely not okay." Shuichi stared at the supreme leader. "When have you last slept..?"

"..." Kokichi didn't answer, but looked toward the bed like he wanted to go there.

"Here, come on, we can both sleep here. Ah, um, I didn't really get any sleep yesterday either." Shuichi blushed a bit as he offered Kokichi to sit inside. "Do you had insomnia by any chance?"

"Why? Do you?" Kokichi sounded annoyed, but he sat in the bed next to Shuichi. His cheeks were still wet from crying.

"Not anymore... but I used to," Shuichi said.

"How... How'd you overcome it? Like, how were you able to sleep properly?" Kokichi asked, suddenly interested.

"Well, it kind of depends for me. Everyone kind of has their own way in my opinion. If I look forward to the next day, then I tend to sleep better for some reason," Shuichi explained. "It sounds weird, but I assure you that's the truth."

"Ohh... makes sense to me!" Kokichi exclaimed.

"What do you think would help you?" Shuichi asked.

"Um... well, maybe just staying here with you would help best."

"Eh?! M-Me?" Shuichi's eyes widened as he tilted his head in confusion.

"C'mon, Mr. Detective. I loooove spending time with you, nishishi~!" Kokichi exclaimed.

"Ah, really?" Shuichi managed a small smile as he blushed. "I... do too..."

"Actually, I don't love spending time with you," Kokichi suddenly responded .

"What? Were you lying?" Shuichi said, looking confused.

"No, silly!! I love you more then anything else!"
