Lying.
It was something that Kokichi had relied on for most of his life. As soon as he could talk, he couldn't help it. By this point, being a freshman in high school, lying is what kept him alive, almost.
Still, even though he lied to keep himself safe, Kokichi still suffered. The teasing never stopped. The bruises on his arms continued to grow. Sometimes it got so bad that the supreme leader had stayed home from school. His parents never cared, let alone noticed. Kokichi was only going to school for his own good by that point.
"Dumbass." Kaito spat in his face during passing period. Kokichi wasn't even able to get to his locker before the taller male aimed to punched him in the ribs. He always tended to punch there. Kaito bullied Kokichi so much that Kokichi was easily able to anticipate his moves by this point. The supreme leader quickly dodged past Kaito's fist, feeling the wind between them.
"You think you can get away that fast!?" Kaito yelled. Kokichi looked around awkwardly, hoping someone... anyone... would care. A teacher, a student, he didn't care who. He wanted the pain to stop. He wanted everything to stop. Kaito ran towards the smaller boy and punched him again.
This time, he didn't miss.

The next time Kokichi woke up, he was moving. His eyes widened as he exclaimed, "A-Ah! Am I being kidnapped?!"
"What do you think?" The voice had come from in front of Kokichi. Once Kokichi got a sense of his surroundings, he realized he was being carried. Carried? The smaller boy tried to lean forward to get a glimpse of who was carrying him.
"Who are you?" Kokichi asked curiously, not recognising the other boy's golden eyes and dark cyan hair.
"I'm surprised you don't know me." A small chuckle escaped from him, and Kokichi watched as a smirk came across the other male's face. "My name is Shuichi Saihara."
"Oh." That one word that came out of Kokichi's mouth carried too much meaning, but too little at the same time, yet Shuichi knew exactly what Kokichi had meant. The purple-haired supreme leader did know of Shuichi, but only from the rumours around school. On the outside, he usually seemed to be a studious boy. Many teachers liked the fact that Shuichi always had high grades and excelled at his studies, usually in the top of the class.
But even if the teachers and parents were fooled by Shuichi's disguise, the students definitely weren't.
If it wasn't schoolwork, it was Danganronpa. Shuichi was more than obsessed. Danganronpa was what he lived for, but it's not something you make clear to the public either. Everyone had mixed opinions on it. But if you disliked Danganronpa and stated that in front of Shuichi... well, let's just say he's wouldn't be happy.
He was like a mystery. No one knew how he was able to keep up in the two subjects at the same time. Even Kokichi had been curious. How was Shuichi so smart, but invested so much time in Danganronpa as well? He didn't understand.
"W-Why are you carrying me home...? What are you gonna do with me?" Kokichi said. He sounded nervous, and Shuichi noticed that.
How cute, Shuichi thought. "Ah... you did look pretty bruised up back there."
"Bruised...?" Kokichi looked confused, but then realized what Shuichi meant. "B-But, where are you taking me?"
"Oh, that?" Shuichi hesitated. "You're going to find out."

"You took me to your house?" Kokichi said in astonishment.
"Ahahaha, where did you think I was taking you?" Shuichi asked softly. "I hope you feel better."
Kokichi smiled at him. Despite how odd everyone else thought Shuichi was, the smaller boy couldn't find anything wrong with the detective.
Suddenly, Kokichi gave Shuichi a hug, wrapping his arms around the other. Shuichi was taken aback, but eventually hugged the other as well.
Kokichi winced and bit his lip, his bruises seemed to hurt more as he hugged Shuichi, but Kokichi didn't care.
Why would he when Shuichi was here?
