Many More To Come: Dexiana

Diana time!
Enjoy!
"Can I- um. Can I come over?" Biana asked tentatively. She'd never really been over at his house alone... What if he didn't want her to come over or he'd rather be at hers or they shouldn't even be talking because he still thought she was snobby and-
"Sure," Dex blinked. He was obviously surprised, but he didn't seem reluctant or anything like that.
Maybe that was a hint of happiness in his eyes? Excitement?
Or maybe she was reading too much into it.
Changing into a simple teal tunic, Biana braided her hair down her back, deciding not to do anything fancy. Dex didn't like that kind of stuff.
She leaped over to his house, unable to stop the butterflies in her stomach that always came when she saw him.
He was waiting for her when she glittered into view, materializing with the rest of the landscape. His hair was styled into the swoopy style she'd shown him during a sleepover, pronouncing his cheekbones and making him look older.
It made it even harder to stop the jump in her stomach when she saw him.
"Hey," Dex grinned, waving awkwardly as she made her way over. "What's up?"
"Nothing," Biana shrugged. "Just wanted to see you."
Was that a... blush? Creeping up on Dex's cheeks?
It was probably just the light. And wishful thinking.
"Want to come inside?" Dex invited, sweeping an arm towards the mansion behind him. "The triplets are at a friend's house, and my parents aren't home, so it's fine to go in."
Biana nodded gratefully- the air was always a little chilly outside Rimeshire- and followed him inside. He hesitated as they got inside, before shaking his head slightly and leading the way upstairs. He unhooked a tripwire from a doorknob, dismantled what looked like a whole high-tech security system complete with lasers and retina scanners, and used his technopathy to unlock the door the rest of the way.
Catching her quizzical glance, Dex explained, "The triplets still somehow managed to get into my room with the tripwire and the lock, so I had to get creative."
Biana laughed, following him inside his room.
His. Room.
She'd never actually been there before. Dex didn't like having people to his house in general, and on the rare occasions she'd gone to the house with her other friends, they always stayed in another room or outside rather than going up.
So she wasn't expecting the entire laboratory that greeted her when she stepped through.
Two separate ones, actually.
"Oh, wow," she breathed, her eyes drinking in the sight. The rather large room was divided in half; one side was dedicated to alchemy, with bubbling concoctions and vials filled with vibrantly colored elixirs, while the other half was a technology wonderland. Gears and springs and spare parts were scattered everywhere at random, with half built machines laying haphazardly on a table and around it. There was a bed stuck in the middle of the room almost as an afterthought, and besides all of his creations, there weren't really many personal effects anywhere.
"Sorry, it's a mess," Dex bit his lip nervously. "I would've cleaned but I wasn't planning on bringing you up here, and there's really no point because it'll get messay again anyway."
"It's fine," Biana giggled. There was something alluring about the chaos, in a way, especially because her house was always kept neat and spotless, perfectly put together. She always folded her clothes neatly, made her bed perfectly, and kept her desk organized. But something about this mess seemed to scream... freedom.
Which was something she'd always wanted.
Freedom from the burden of being a Vacker, having to continue the legacy and be perfect.
Freedom from the expectation heaped upon her. Her brothers had been perfect in school, so she was expected to be too.
Freedom from the pressures from her classmates to succeed; if a Vacker failed, then something was impossible, after all. Maybe she came off as snobby or Little Miss Perfect, but she really didn't have a choice. It was try hard, or be ridiculed by her relatives for "befouling the Vacker name."
"It's awesome, actually," she continued, pushing the thoughts out of her mind. "I had no idea you were working on so many projects at a time. Doesn't it get overwhelming, to juggle everything?"
Dex shrugged. "I guess. I usually plan out which ones I'll finish first, then move on to the next ones. I make sure not to overwhelm myself with too much to do."
"Yeah," Biana bit her lip. "When do you find time to do other things, with everything you're doing?"
"None of my stuff is that urgent. The time-controlled stuff, I finish first. And even then, sometimes I have to take a break. Sit down somewhere, take deep breaths, you know?"
Biana hesitated, and Dex noticed, his eyebrows shooting up. "You've never taken a break before? Just to de-stress, decompress, all that?"
"I mean... I've taken break before... but that's usually just to do other things. There's so much to do, you know? And I have to do it all perfectly, on time, without flaw, every single day and if I mess up, then I've disgraced the family name. Even if no one says it out loud, I know everyone's disappointed in me because I have to do everything perfectly, I'm supposed to. I... just don't have the time to take breaks." Biana took a deep breath. She'd never really said the words out loud before.
So why had her life story just spilled out?
Especially in front of Dex.
His problems were so much huger than hers, how could he not hate her now, for complaining about having a shining family when his was-
Dex placed a hand on her shoulder- Biana ignored the heat spreading through her arm- leading her over to a comfy chair that was shoved in the corner. He brushed off the various springs and boards that sat on the seat, and practically shoved her into it. She let out a startled squeak, but he shook his head at her.
"You are going to relax, right here, right NOW," Dex nodded firmly. He kept his hands on her shoulders behind her, making her stay seated.
Biana let out a harumph, but gave in, allowing her body to relax back into the cushions. Well, most of it.
"Let your posture slump," Dex told her. "There aren't standards of posture, here."
Biana had it drilled into her on day one; posture is important. All Vackers had perfect posture, that's how everyone knew they were the best. If she let herself slump, she could feel the disapproving stares from her relatives shining from every direction.
But then Dex's fingers started moving on her shoulders. Slowly. Hesitantly.
Carefully massaging, his fingers pressing down to release the tension that had built up since she had turned seven and realized just what she had to do to make her family proud.
Slowly, her back melted into the cushions, Dex's fingers sending shockwaves of heat through her body. She leaned back, allowing his concentrated periwinkle eyes to meet hers.
"Hey, Dex?" She whispered.
"Yeah?"
"You're pretty awesome. Did you know that? You're pretty great." Biana hardly knew the words that were spilling out of her mouth. But they need to be said, all the words she'd kept built up inside exploding out of her in one big- "I really like you."
Time slowed.
And stopped.
Dex's fingers halted their progress, and Biana cursed her big mouth. Why the heck had she said that? Did she really want to destroy a friendship? He probably didn't feel the same way, and she'd just embarassed him and herself and now he'd tell the whole school how he'd rejected a Vacker and-
He was standing in front of her.
"You... you do?" He asked softly.
Biana hesitated. He didn't look mad, or laughing at her, or anything like that. If anything, he looked... hopeful.
"Um. Yes." Her voice crackled, and she repeated her words more strongly, hoping hoping hoping that it wouldn't backfire.
Dex reached forward.
Cupped her cheeks.
"Good," he whispered.
And carefully, so she could pull away if she wanted to, he brought his lips to hers.
His lips were cold, and then suddenly they weren't, as a wave of heat brought them closer. She was standing now, and her hands were in his hair, and his hands were around her waist, and they were kissing, and-
"OOOOH, DEXY'S GOT A GIRLFRIENDDDDDD!" A shrill voice sounded from the doorway, shattering the spell that had been cast the moment his lips touched hers.
They pulled away quickly, blushing madly as one of the triplets- long hair, so Bex- made kissy faces at them.
Quickly stampeding footsteps made their way towards them, which meant the other triplets couldn't be too far behind. Dex stepped away from her, quickly, and Biana tried to ignore the sting.
He was embarassed by his siblings, of course.
It wasn't anything about her.
"You're that Vacker girl, the one that's way too good for him! How did you end up with him?" Bex decided to say, turning their faces even redder.
Biana mustered up her courage. It didn't matter what they thought... right? "I like him, that's why," she told the little red-haired devil.
Bex practically exploded. Rex and Lex charged into the room, and she screeched, "THEY'RE TOGETHER, I TOLD YOU SO! HAND IT OVER!"
"What-" Dex started.
"NOOOO NOT FAIR. ARE THEY DATING OR DID THEY KISS OR-" Rex (or Lex, perhaps) protested, stomping his way towards Bex.
"THEY KISSED!" Bex shouted. "THEY'RE PROBABLY DATING, AREN'T YOU?" She turned towards Biana and Dex expectantly, tapping her foot loudly.
"Do you want to?" Dex asked slowly. Tentatively.
Bright light filled her entire body, and for the first time in her life, Biana was speechless.
She nodded. Hard.
Which, of course, caused Bex to slap Rex and Lex over the head, yelling, "GIVE ME WHAT YOU OWE ME!"
The boys slapped their sister back. Apparently not taking no for an answer, she decided to tackle them, and soon there was a writhing heap of Dizznee triplets on the ground, screaming their heads off.
Dex laughed, and Biana joined him.
Maybe their special moment was interupted, but there would be many more to come.
And that was enough.
The triplets are just-
Infuriating and lovable at the same time-
Anyway, I have a few more requests to finish, but I should be finished soon! Thanks for your patience!
