Ballroom Dancing: Keefitz

"Stop! You're stepping on my toes!" Fitz complained. Keefe smirked, deliberately pressing his feet on Fitz's toes.

Fitz scowled.

"Aw, poor baby, does that hurt?" Keefe teased.

Fitz snorted. "Not as much as my eyes when I look at your face."

Keefe gasped in mock horror, his ice-blue eyes dancing with delight. "How cruel! My face is majestically beautiful, and you know it!" He ruffled Fitz's hair. "You're just jealous."

Fitz didn't dignify the tease with a response, saying instead, "Aren't we supposed to be practicing for the gala?"

Keefe sighed dramatically. "I suppose."

They twirled around the room, graceful as deer. Both had been dancing from birth, of course, as most Elven families trained their children to dance for their future Winnowing Galas.

They really didn't need this practice, especially not with Keefe purposely stepping on Fitz's toes, but they'd scheduled it anyway.

They were looking for any excuse to spend more time together.

Keefe steered them towards the wall with their supplies, plopping Fitz down on the ground when they got close enough. He followed soon after, sitting so close to Fitz that their knees touched.

"What was that for?" Fitz asked, although his sparkling eyes made it clear he knew exactly what Keefe was doing.

"I'm tired," Keefe complained, a grin dancing on his lips. "I have a much better idea for how to spend our time."

"Is that so?" Fitz leaned forward until their noses were inches away. "And what is that amazing idea you have?" He breathed.

"Let me show you," Keefe whispered. He pressed his lips to his boyfriend's, causing Fitz to scoot closer.

The boys pressed together, fingers tangled in each other's hair. Their lips moved together in an easy rhythm caused by practice, noses bumping together periodically.

Eventually, they broke away, resting their foreheads together as they caught their breath. Keefe pecked Fitz's nose as he drew away.

"I love you."

They'd never used those words before. Fitz knew it was a huge deal for Keefe to say them first, the amount of trust that took for him.

Fitz didn't have to think twice before responding. "I love you too."

Keefe's smile was the best thing Fitz had ever seen. For once, he didn't make a joke, moving forward to catch Fitz's lips on his again.

There really was no point in practicing dancing.

After all, there weren't going to be any Winnowing Galas for them.

They already knew exactly what their choices would be.
